Systematic literature review of human–machine collaboration in organizations using bibliometric analysis

Purpose This study aims to systematically map the state of work on human–machine collaboration in organizations using bibliometric analysis. Design/methodology/approach The authors used a systematic literature review to survey 111 articles on human–machine collaboration published in leading journals to categorize the theories used and to construct a framework of human–machine collaboration in organizations. A bibliometric analysis is applied to statistically evaluate the published materials and measure the influence of the publications using co-citation, coupling and keyword analyses. Findings The results inform that the research on human–machine collaboration in the organizational field is targeted at four aspects: performance, innovation, human resource management and information technology (IT). Originality/value This work is the first exploratory piece to assess the extent and depth of research on human–machine collaboration.

Hybrid energy projects are gaining global interest due to their potential to promote sustainable development. This study addresses a gap in the literature by proposing a stochastic model that assesses the economic feasibility of a hybrid energy system combining wind, photovoltaic generation, and battery storage. Unlike traditional deterministic approaches, the model incorporates uncertainties in key financial and operational variables, improving decision-making in real-world conditions. The optimization framework integrates Design of Experiments (DoE), Response Surface Methodology (RSM), and the Desirability function to balance economic return and financial risk. By maximizing the mean and minimizing the variance of the Net Present Value (NPV), the model identifies an optimal system configuration with 92% wind energy, a demand level of 230 kWh/month, and lithium-ion battery storage. This approach reduces computational complexity and enhances hybrid system viability in regions with strong wind resources, providing a valuable tool for investors and policymakers in sustainable energy planning. © 2025 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Due to the issue of population aging faced by Taiwan, the government is implementing policies on encouraging the elderly to engage in social activities in their life after retirement, so as to enable them to enjoy a contented and happy retirement life and further forget their ages. In the population aging society, the elderly have an increasingly greater demand for ecotourism. Therefore, in this study, by taking ecotourism as an example, a research on the engagement of the elderly in technology enhanced interactive scenarios of ecotourism was conducted. Purpose of this study was mainly to propose the design system of technology enhanced interactive scenarios suitable for experience of the elderly. In this study, experience demands of the elderly were understood through relevant literature review, preliminary survey and field survey. Subsequently, design concepts of interactive scenarios were proposed through Scenario Approach and a prototype of interactive scenario was designed through Rapid Prototyping Method. Research results: a total of 8 concepts of interactive scenarios were proposed in this study through demand investigation, including provision of experience information, voice guide experience, enhancement of experience fun, trigger of experience scenario, enhancement of intellectual fun, basic knowledge query, enhancement of sensory experience, and sharing and memory. At last, the prototype of "i-Travel" interactive experience scenario was proposed through Prototyping Method. The interactive system consists of 8 interactive scenario concepts, experience contents and navigation design, design of scenario navigation APP, etc. Results of this study will be applied for subsequent assessment and validation of scenario experience awareness of this system. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The growing disparity between the high extraction of natural resources and low use of waste as alternative mineral resources will aggravate the scarcity of natural reserves. Therefore, the current linear economy model must be converted to sustainable economic models, such as the circular economy. To achieve this transition, it is important that waste recovery strategies are implemented with a continuous search for solutions for these materials. Thus, this study investigates the waste from the processing of nepheline syenite stone, to promote its valorization as an alternative mineral resource. The classification, potentiality, quantity/viability and applicability (CPQvA) criteria are used as tools to aid decision-making for the waste valorization. The environmental, physical, chemical, morphological, and durability characteristics of nepheline syenite waste (NSW) are analyzed. The results showed evidence for the substitution of NSW for up to 100% of fine aggregates and 25% of Portland cement in civil construction. Furthermore, NSW yields recoveries of more than 90% of potassium for use in agriculture, and up to 70% of iron ore for use in steelworks. Therefore, the results indicate that NSW is viable for different applications, contributing to industrial symbiosis and a strategy for advancing the circular economy. © 2023, The Authors. This study aims to develop a system for extracting crucial information from tire sidewalls using Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Initially, images of tire were captured manually by smartphone cameras, including Redmi 9T, iPhone 11, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. The captured images are then transferred to a computer for storage. Subsequently, these images were cropped according to the boundaries identified by Hough Circle Transform (HCT). The cropped images were then further pre-processed. During the pre-processing phase, geometrical transformation and image sharpening techniques are applied to enhance the clarity and readability of the text images. The text is then extracted using Google Vision, with the extracted text categorized by size, DOT, brand and pattern. The results indicated that the effectiveness of image pre-processing was constrained by the accuracy of circle detection, which reached a maximum rate of 87.1%. This causes parts of the text to be cut out inaccurately, leading to a suboptimal extraction accuracy of 55.65%. It is also observed that the Redmi 9T camera produced inconsistent results compared to other devices. Specifically, the iPhone 11 and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra demonstrated superior extraction accuracies of 69.71% and 66.37%, respectively, whereas the Redmi 9T achieved a lower extraction accuracy of 37.76%.

Developing successful breakthrough innovations is a challenge for industrial firms due to the high degree of uncertainty and complexity involved. This difficulty is heightened by the rapid development of information and communication technologies, which has disrupted many traditional industries and has forced companies to adopt more radical approaches to innovation. To investigate the role of technological capabilities in digital disruption, the present study employs an in-depth qualitative case study of Perfect Corporation. We analyze how the market environment, strategies, business models, processes, and competencies, and organizational structure influence the company's ability to develop successful breakthrough innovations. Our findings reveal that Perfect Corporation has established and sustained a competitive advantage by observing market trends, leveraging its parent company's breakthrough technologies, and strategically positioning itself in the fashion technology sector. Our results contribute to the fields of breakthrough innovation and digital disruption. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.

Global aging is an important issue for global development. Elderly people should not be the burden of individual families, but the assets of the entire society. With the help of life stories or past events that elderly people often repeat, we can better understand the importance of certain things. Therefore, life review is a normal and necessary process that can help the elderly to review past experience with a rational attitude, help them to find the meaning of life, and see the essence of their life. The interviews in this study used Nvivo qualitative software to record and analyze the life stories of 4 elderly people in southern Taiwan, in order to understand the important memories and emotions in their lives, discover the background factors of elderly people recalling their life, and maintain precious human stories for families and society via recording and saving. Guiding the elderly to review their lives through nostalgic narrative has the function of storied therapy, and its values include: personal self-identification, rebuilding the integrity of life through memories, and helping the elderly to reposition themselves in a lonely life through their past experience. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Image segmentation is an essential component in many different types of computer vision systems. Image segmentation is used in order to identify objects and boundaries within pictures. It is important to note that the success of recognition algorithms is heavily dependent on the quality of the picture segmentation, and there is yet no technique that can universally segment images. Boundary detection has a long history of being recognised as one of the most difficult challenges in the fields of image processing and pattern analysis, in particular, when it comes to applications in medical imaging. The clarity of the picture is being muddled by more information, which is the source of the problem's complexity. The creation of segmentation algorithms for medical pictures is an active field of study, and segmentation algorithms are meant to account for a variety of factors, including noise, intensity inhomogeneity, poor contrast between the lesion and the surrounding skin, and so on. There is currently no active contour model that combines the locally statistical property of being more noise-resistant, in which the intensities in the transformed domain have less overlapping in the statistics, and the locally image fitting property of extracting the local image information in order to be able to segment images with intensity inhomogeneity. This is because there is no such model. So the proposed work includes Ant colony optimization based double threshold segmentation in medical images. Performance of the proposed algorithm is more efficient, reliable and accurate than the existing algorithm. Performance parameters such as segmentation accuracy, error rate, and Dice co-efficient are used in order to conduct the evaluation of the proposed work.

In the past decade, it stated that the discourse on Sustainable Development and the Financial technology(FinTech) role in the financial and banking industries, has attention on researchers, practitioners, regulators, and policymakers. The real problem arises from the discourse on whether FinTech has an effect on sustainable development in the financial and banking industry in Indonesia. This discourse needed to be understood better and more deeply. For credible research results, it is necessary to use a mixedmethod research approach. This research aims to develop a model that will help uncover the phenomenon of FinTech to sustainable development in the Financial and Banking Industry in Indonesia, using mixed methods research. In this study, Exploratory Sequential Mixed Method used as a type of mixedmethod approach. The main results of this study reveal that FinTech, which is influenced by business drivers, has a significant role in sustainable development in the Financial and Banking Industry in Indonesia. The contribution of this research can provide insight and understanding for researchers and practitioners in the financial and banking industry who want to implement a sustainable development model based on FinTech in more depth. © 2020 IEEE.
