Smart Home technology offers technological concepts that can be controlled through smart devices to make it easier for the community. Therefore, smart home technology is starting to seize the home electronics market in Indonesia, especially in the city of Jakarta. This study aims to determine the integration of conventional technology into smart home technology for people in Jakarta. The research model in this study uses UTAUT2 which analyzes nine variables, namely Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Cost, Perceived Ease of Use, Social Influence, Perceived Compatibility, Trust, Perceived Pleasure, and Effort Expectations, Intention to Use Smart Home technology. After the responses were received, data analysis was carried out using the PLS-SEM approach with the SmartPLS application. The results of this study show that there are many people who live in Jakarta who are helped by the presence of smart home technology. However, there are some people who don't really know how to use a smart home because of a lack of knowledge about this technology. © 2023 IEEE.

With the start of the 5G operations, it will become more important to apply communication systems to automo-biles, which has been promoted in recent years as connected cars. Multi-band antennas are required to reduce the in-vehicle space which is occupied by communication equipment. We de-signed dual-band antennas for the sub-6 GHz 5G bands and the intelligent transport systems (ITS) especially the driving safety support system (DSSS) by loading helical elements to modified conical antennas (MCA), and conducted simulations and meas-urements. As a result, the antenna satisfied the sub-6 and ITS DSSS bands in the simulations. There were slightly differences between the calculated and measured results. © 2022 IEEE.

This study aims to envision the future of banking and the FinTech industry collaboration by the triggers for change based on trends watching in current conditions. Envisioning is the ability to describe the impact of changes in the business environment caused by the various trigger changes observed in trend watching. The current conditions and the triggers of change based on trend-watching are issues and considerations in envisioning collaboration between banking and the Fintech industry. The research methodology uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The study surveyed 100 respondents, each representing the banking and FinTech sectors, who understand the issues related to the collaboration of the two industries. In addition, to complement the survey data, this study also conducted Focus Group Discussions and In-depth Interviews as a qualitative approach. The study's results by analyzing current conditions and triggers of change based on trend watching will represent a picture of the future of banking and FinTech industry collaboration. This research will expect a significant contribution to government regulations/policies and a positive contribution and support on the IT/IS side, especially in applied technology and architecture/business models for collaboration in the future of collaboration banking and the FinTech Industry that follow. © 2022 IEEE.

In this study, we develop warranty cost models for a warranted product that is also protected by lemon laws. The product is viewed as a multi-component system consisting of critical (C) and non-critical (NC) components. We model failure process of each type of components, which considers a bidirectional (or mutual) failure interaction between the C and NC components. Hence, each component has two types of failures -i.e., natural failure and induced failure. The product is declared a lemon if the recurrent failures of C or NC component occur - i.e., when the number of the C or NC component failures reaches the threshold value, k. If a lemon is declared, the manufacturer will provide either a refund or a replacement to the consumer. Then, we develop the warranty cost models for the two cases (i.e., refund and replacement cases) and find the optimal lemon law period that minimizes the expected warranty cost rate. The numerical examples are provided to illustrate the expected warranty cost and the optimal lemon law period. © 2022 IEEE.

Human-nature relationships and its implications on the management of eastern arc water catchments of Tanzania

This study is aimed at understanding the Human–Nature Relationships (HNRs) in the Lower Mngeta and Upper Zigi catchments, as parts of Eastern Arc water catchment areas, in the United Republic of Tanzania. This study employed the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Norm-Activation Model (NAM) to understand the position of humans in the two catchments’ ecosystems. The study design involved Focus Group Discussions, Key Informant Interview, and Household Questionnaire Surveys. A total of 310 (185 males and 125 females) villagers were involved in this study. Furthermore, four HRN typologies, master over nature, partner with nature, a participant in nature, and steward of nature, were adopted. The study findings indicated that there was no significant difference (X ² test, p > 0.05) in HNRs between the two catchments. Moreover, master over nature typology was dominant in both catchments, with values of 59.4% (n = 200) and 59.5% (n = 85) in Lower Mngeta and Upper Zigi, respectively. The main reason is that HNR is dependent on the nature of the livelihood activities and the mode of subsistence of a particular community. It was also found that the communities in Lower Mngeta and Upper Zigi catchments are mostly dependent on agricultural and hunting activities that highly depended on the two catchment resources. This study, therefore, recommends an increase in the level of community participation in all decision-making activities, as well as an increase in environmental education for sustainable utilization and management of the two catchment resources. © 2023 The Author(s). In current genomic research, the widely used methods for predicting antimicrobial resistance (AMR) often rely on prior knowledge of known AMR genes or reference genomes. However, these methods have limitations, potentially resulting in imprecise predictions owing to incomplete coverage of AMR mechanisms and genetic variations. To overcome these limitations, we propose a pan-genome-based machine learning approach to advance our understanding of AMR gene repertoires and uncover possible feature sets for precise AMR classification. By building compacted de Brujin graphs (cDBGs) from thousands of genomes and collecting the presence/absence patterns of unique sequences (unitigs) for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, we determined that using machine learning models on unitig-centered pan-genomes showed significant promise for accurately predicting the antibiotic resistance or susceptibility of microbial strains. Applying a feature-selection-based machine learning algorithm led to satisfactory predictive performance for the training dataset (with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of > 0.929) and an independent validation dataset (AUC, approximately 0.77). Furthermore, the selected unitigs revealed previously unidentified resistance genes, allowing for the expansion of the resistance gene repertoire to those that have not previously been described in the literature on antibiotic resistance. These results demonstrate that our proposed unitig-based pan-genome feature set was effective in constructing machine learning predictors that could accurately identify AMR pathogens. Gene sets extracted using this approach may offer valuable insights into expanding known AMR genes and forming new hypotheses to uncover the underlying mechanisms of bacterial AMR. © 2024 The Authors

The Langat River Basin in Malaysia is vulnerable to soil erosion risks because of its exposure to intensive land use activities and its topography,which primarily consists of steep slopes and mountainous ***,climate change frequently exposes this basin to drought,which negatively affects soil and water ***,recent studies have rarely shown how soil reacts to drought,such as soil ***,the purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between drought and soil erosion in the Langat River *** analyzed drought indices using Landsat 8 satellite images in November 2021,and created the normalized differential water index(NDWI)via Landsat 8 data to produce a drought *** used the revised universal soil loss equation(RUSLE)model to predict soil *** verified an association between the NDWI and soil erosion data using a correlation *** results revealed that the southern and northern regions of the study area experienced drought *** predicted an average annual soil erosion of approximately 58.11 t/(hm^(2)·a).Analysis of the association between the NDWI and soil erosion revealed a strong positive correlation,with a Pearson correlation coefficient of *** assumed that the slope length and steepness factor was the primary contributor to soil erosion in the study *** a result,these findings can help authorities plan effective measures to reduce the impacts of drought and soil erosion in the future.

The industry is rapidly transitioning from the 4.0 era to the 5.0 era, prompting renewed interest among scholars in scheduling problems. They allow operations to process and assemble various components simultaneously. This bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of the diverse research perspectives on the potential challenges of integrated scheduling within the framework. We identified 357 Scopus articles and analysed co-occurrence keyword (CNK) by VOSViewer tools and Global Citation Score (GCS) by Scopus tools. The research data obtained from 1993 to 2023 mainly in the subject areas of Engineering, Computer Science, Maths, and others. CNK identified six cluster keywords, and nine most cited articles based on normalised GCS. These results contribute to our understanding of the development of scheduling algorithms, shifting from an emphasis on manufacturing transfers to contemporary demand-centric research directions. Furthermore, this research provides a valuable perspective for policymakers, plant personnel, and manufacturing managers to make informed decisions. © 2025 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Based on the 189 projects submitted to the Seoul Smart City Prize 2023, this paper aims to distinguish the key indicators affecting smart city project with a focus on human centered smart city development. By identifying the highly correlated indicators and the ones that have the greatest influence on the result, divergence and replicability and scalability was the important criteria in technology focused projects and service facilitating conditions and digital media literacy level was important for human-centered initiative focused projects. These findings can be a guidance to understand the critical elements of human centered smart city project design.

Propranolol hydrochloride can be considered a persistent and bioaccumulative pharmaceutical in the *** drug and its by-products are potentially toxic and have adverse effects,since these compounds have been associated with endocrine-disrupting effects,reproductive deficiencies,embryo abnormalities and pericardial ***_(2)–La 0.05%–carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin(CMCD)nanoparticles were successfully prepared by a simple two-step method,which consists of sonification and *** characterization analyses reveal that lanthanum is dispersed on the semiconductor surface,probably forming Ti–O–La bonds,which can induce oxygen vacancies and surface defects that effectively restrain the recombination of photogenerated electron/holes *** efficiency of TiO_(2)–La 0.05%–CMCD samples in degradation of propranolol under UV-light irradiation is higher than that of pristine TiO_(2) within 20 min reaction,probably due to complex formation between theβ-blocker and the oligosaccharide,which allows us to propose a photocatalytic mechanism based on the formation of intermediates and competition of these compounds to the radicals and CMCD cavities.
