Reinforcement Learning (RL) is an extraordinarily paradigm that aims to solve a complex problem. This technique leverages the traditional feedforward networks with temporal-difference learning to overcome supervised and unsupervised real-world problems. However, RL is one of state-of-the-art topic due to the opaque aspects in design and implementation. Also, in which situation we will get performance gain from RL is still unclear. Therefore, This study firstly examines the impact of Experience Replay in Deep Q-Learning agent with Self-Driving Car application. Secondly, The impact of Eligibility Trace in RNN A3C agents with Breakout AI game application is studied. Our results indicated that these two techniques enhance RL performance by more than 20 percent as compared with traditional RL methods.

Peer to Peer (P2P) systems recently are receiving a lot of attention from the researchers. In such systems, peers are heterogeneous in providing resources and services. Peers do not have the same reliability so it is necessary to evaluate their trustworthiness for a reliable sharing of the resources and services. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy-based system for peer reliability in JXTA-Overlay P2P platform. We took in consideration two parameters: Actual Behaviour Criterion (ABC) and Amount of Data Exchanged (ADE) between peers. We evaluate the performance of the proposed system by computer simulations. The simulation results shows that the proposed system has a good behaviour and it can be used successfully to select the most reliable peer to execute the tasks.

Recently many researchers are working on Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks, which are able to overcome the firewalls, NATs and other security devices without changing the network policy. P2P architectures will be very important for future distributed systems and applications. In such networks, peers are heterogeneous in providing the services and they do not have the same competence of reliability. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate whether a peer is trustworthy or not for file sharing and other services. In this paper, we propose an integrated fuzzy-based trustworthiness system for P2P communications in JXTA-Overlay, which consists of two Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLC1 and FLC2). For FLC1, we use three input parameters: Number of Jobs (NJ), Number of Connections (NC) and Connection Lifetime (CL) and the output is Actual Behavioural Criterion (ABC). We use ABC and Reputation (R) as input linguistic parameters for FLC2 and the output is Peer Reliability (PR). We evaluate the proposed system by computer simulations. The simulation results has shown that the proposed system has a good behaviour.

Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) are increasingly becoming attractive for usage in time-critical applications and collaborative computing. In this paper, we investigate the performance of a MANET test bed for different scenarios in indoor and outdoor stairs environment considering throughput and packet loss metrics. We analyze the behavior of Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol. We design and implement four experimental scenarios in indoor and outdoor stairs environments and compare their performance behaviour for different number of hops.

Road damage detection (RDD) through computer vision and deep learning techniques can ensure the safety of vehicles and humans on the roads. Integrating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in RDD and infrastructure evaluation (IE) has also emerged as a key enabler, contributing significantly to data acquisition and real-time monitoring of road damages, such as potholes, cracks, and surface anomalies, facilitating proactive maintenance and improved road conditions. These UAVs are low-powered and resource-constrained devices that work autonomously to perform pattern detection and decision making leveraging tiny machine learning (Tiny ML) algorithms. These Tiny ML algorithms are designed to run on edge devices, IoT devices, UAVs, etc. In this study, the RDD2022 data set collected using UAVs and dashboard cameras of vehicles was utilized to train pure and mixed models that exhibit class instance imbalance in certain classes which is addressed by implementing data augmentation as a regularization technique. State-of-the-art two-stage detectors: Faster R-CNN ResNet101 and one-stage detectors: SSD MobileNet V1 FPN, YOLOv5, and Efficientdet D1 are employed. The results indicate that the two-stage detector achieved an impressive mean average precision (mAP) of 88.49% overall and 96.62% for focused classes. Notably, the state-of-the-art Efficientdet D1 approach achieved a competitive mAP of 86.47% overall and 95.12% for focused classes, with significantly lower computational cost. These findings highlight the potential of advanced object detection techniques, particularly Efficientdet D1, to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of RDD systems, thereby improving passenger safety and overall performance. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper proposes a system to reconstruct the 3D shape model of background regions for generating 3D video easily. As the progress of computer vision technologies continues, many 3D video systems have been developed that tend to focus on automatic 3D reconstruction to capture target (foreground) objects. On the other hand, the 3D shapes of background regions such as walls and floors are generally made manually, for example, using 3D modeling software such as CAD. However, the operation is not easy for novices. Our system provides an easy background modeling method for such users. User operations include segmenting multiple background images into several boxes by indi cating their vertices and giving the correspondence of the boxes between multiple images. As a result, the 3D coordinates of the vertices are calculated using a stereo vision algorithm.

Due to the amount of anonymity afforded to users of the Tor infrastructure, Tor has become a useful tool for malicious users. With Tor, the users are able to compromise the non-repudiation principle of computer security. Also, the potentially hackers may launch attacks such as DDoS or identity theft behind Tor. For this reason, there are needed new systems and models to detect the intrusion in Tor networks. In this paper, we present the application of Neural Networks (NNs) for intrusion detection in Tor networks. We used the Back propagation NN and constructed a Tor server and a Deep Web browser (client). Then, the client sends the data browsing to the Tor server using the Tor network. We used Wireshark Network Analyzer to get the data and then use the Back propagation NN to make the approximation. The simulation results show that our simulation system has a good approximation and can be used for intrusion detection in To networks.

In this paper, we investigate the performance of First Contact, Prophet and Spray-and-Wait protocols in a Vehicular Delay Tolerant Network (VDTN) crossroad scenario. The mobility patterns of vehicles are generated by means of SUMO (Simulation of Urban MObility) and as communication protocol simulator is used ONE (Opportunistic Network Environment). For the simulations, we used IEEE 802.11p standard and TwoRayGround Propagation Loss Model. We use Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Relay Delivery Ratio (RDR), hop count and delay as evaluation metrics. We compared the performance of three protocols and the simulation results show that for PDR the Prophet protocol has better performance than other protocols. Considering RDR, the performance of First Contact and Spray-and-Wait protocols is better than Prophet protocol. For hop count, the performance of Spray-and-Wait protocol is better than other protocols. While for delay, the performance of Prophet protocol is better than other protocols.

Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) are attracting attention for their potential use in several fields such as collaborative computing and multimedia communications. MANET nodes cooperate in an autonomous way by forwarding packets to each-other. Considering mobility of the terminals, the routes change dynamically so routing algorithms are very important for operation of MANETs. In this paper, we analyse the performance of a MANET by simulations, considering Random Waypoint Mobility (RWM) model. We consider the case when source and destination nodes are static and the other nodes are in continuous mobility. We evaluate the performance by measuring the number of hops and throughput of one-flow traffic. From results, we understand that density and moving speed makes routes more unstable, thus presenting oscillations in number of hops and throughput.
