This Research to Practice Full Paper seeks to map the assets of ACM / IEEE, SBC and SWEBOK guide specifically in the knowledge area of Software Process Improvement (SPI) to create a set of contents and competences to be addressed in the classroom, aligned with international and Brazilian references using the good practices of CMMI DEV v2.0 and MR-MPS-SW 2023. The teacher is the main gear for conducting teaching, research, and extension, being responsible for selecting the methods to be used to improve the teaching-learning process. SPI is a set of partially ordered steps with the intention of achieving a goal within the context of software development and involves understanding existing processes and changing them to increase product quality and / or reduce costs and development time. Smart-parking solutions use sensors, cameras, and data analysis to improve parking efficiency and reduce traffic congestion. computer vision-based methods have been used extensively in recent years to tackle the problem of parking lot management, but most of the works assume that the parking spots are manually labeled, impacting the cost and feasibility of deployment. To fill this gap, this work presents an automatic parking space detection method, which receives a sequence of images of a parking lot and returns a list of coordinates identifying the detected parking spaces. The proposed method employs instance segmentation to identify cars and, using vehicle occurrence, generate a heat map of parking spaces. The results using twelve different subsets from the PKLot and CNRPark-EXT parking lot datasets show that the method achieved an AP25 score up to 95.60% and AP50 score up to 79.90%.

The COVID pandemic has caused tremendous loss worldwide. Now vaccines are the primary weapon to combat the pandemic. Understanding how SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the COVID, may mutate in the presence of the vaccines is critical for designing drugs and vaccines for future variants of the virus. In this study, we investigated the numbers of mutations that SARS-CoV-2 accumulated on each protein over time. We found that different proteins of the virus accumulated different levels of mutations and their mutation rates changed over time following different patterns. We also presented evidence that the mutation of the Spike protein might have been suppressed by the vaccines. This is the first time that such a relation was reported based on real world data. Although the discovery was not meant to be conclusive, this study sheds light onto how the virus may response to the vaccines. If confirmed by further studies, the discovery will have significant impacts on many fields, including drug and vaccine designs.

We have developed the system to measure the effectiveness of influencer marketing by a general-purpose method using web browsers and web servers. This system uses the “COVID-19 Contact-Confirming Application” (COCOA) as a reference model. COCOA was developed by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in response to the epidemic of COVID-19, to detect suspicions of close contact while maintaining anonymity. The same model was applied to the cyberspace, and the “close contact confirmation method in the cyberspace” was considered in this study. We implemented a prototype and confirmed its functional validity while solving implementation problems using the Cross-Storage library.
