This innovative practice full paper presents an inter-disciplinary Project-Based Learning (IPBL) approach that relies on a challenge as a key part of the learning process. A project is proposed to the students from the perspective of creating a direct association between learning and doing. In this paper, we present a variation of PBL adding the interdisciplinary factor: we united students from different areas (digital games and music production) under the common objective of producing a complete sounded digital game. An additional difficulty was overcome since all classes took place remotely due to the Covid-19 pandemic. To accomplish this challenge, a remote structure of classes was created to facilitate interaction between students as much as possible. During one semester, 2 groups of undergraduates from these two areas studied different modules organized in parallel under the general objective of an integrative project. The integrated project spanned 17 weeks, with classes structured to accommodate the evolving needs of project development. Initially, the first three weeks operated independently, allowing for focused exploration within each module. Subsequently, collaborative efforts were emphasized during weeks 4, 6, 9, 10, 12, and 15, fostering synergy and collective progress across both domains. Game students were given the mission of producing a game from scratch. To music production students the mission was making a full package of sound and music to each respective game. Facing a common schedule, all students had periodic meetings to align production and deadlines. In the end 10 games were produced and sounded. Initial hypotheses were raised about what we expected because of this experience. To assist in the analysis of the results, all the students involved responded to surveys about what they experienced. Recently, Metaverse has attracted increasing attention from both industry and academia, because of the significant potential to integrate real and digital worlds ever more seam-lessly. By combining advanced wireless communications, edge computing and virtual reality (VR) technologies into Metaverse, a multidimensional, intelligent and powerful wireless edge Meta-verse is created for future human society. In this paper, we design a privacy preserving targeted advertising strategy for the wireless edge Metaverse. Specifically, a Metaverse service provider (MSP) allocates bandwidth to the VR users so that the users can access Metaverse from edge access points. To protect users' privacy, the covert communication technique is used in the downlink. Then, the MSP can offer high-quality access services to earn more profits. Motivated by the concept of “covert”, targeted advertising is used to promote the sale of bandwidth and ensure that the advertising strategy cannot be detected by competitors who may make counter-offer and by attackers who want to disrupt the services. We derive the best advertising strategy in terms of budget input, with the help of the Vidale-Wolfe model and Hamiltonian function. Furthermore, we propose a novel metric named Meta-Immersion to represent the user's experience feelings. The performance evaluation shows that the MSP can boost its revenue with an optimal targeted advertising strategy, especially compared with that without the advertising.

The growing demand for highly reliable communication systems drives research and development of algorithms capable of identifying and correcting errors that occur during data transmission and storage. This need becomes even more critical in hard-to-access or sensitive systems, such as those used in space applications, passenger transportation, and the financial sector. In this context, Error Correction Codes (ECCs) are essential tools for ensuring a certain level of reliability. This work proposes a technique to enhance ECC error correction capability through the overlapping of data regions. The approach consists of protecting the same data area with multiple ECCs organized in a two-dimensional structure, enabling logical inferences that correlate the codes and improve their error detection and correction capabilities. More specifically, the overlapping is characterized by the organization of multiple ECCs, whose intersection exclusively covers the entire data region. To evaluate the proposal, different configurations of overlapping ECCs were analyzed in terms of error detection and correction capability, scalability, and reliability. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the technique and demonstrate its high scalability potential, reducing the need for redundancy bits relative to the number of data bits. Furthermore, comparisons with state-of-the-art ECC approaches indicate the applicability of the technique in critical systems that require high reliability. © 2025, CC BY.

The development of the internet is getting faster, participating in encouraging the emergence of new and innovative information. In filtering the various information that appears, we need a recommended system to perform well for users in today's internet era. A well-performing recommendation system in question is a reliable recommendation algorithm. This algorithm is fundamental to analyzing various information, such as responses on social media based on user behavior data related to the topic of COVID. This data is crawled from tweets on social media Twitter. The data analysis algorithm obtained uses Python, which is then visualized in the form of a diagram. The processed data is user comments on Twitter, and the text data is analyzed using Python, using more than 60000 data sets taken to form visualizations and conclusions. From sentiment analysis, polarity and subjectivity data are obtained to be analyzed, which are negative, neutral, or positive. The result is show positive tweets with 29.2%, negative tweets is 13%, and 57.8% neutral tweets. Lastly, sentiment analysis can help people effectively infer vast and complex data from social media like Twitter.

The rapid population growth and industrial development in developing countries harm the agricultural sector because many agricultural lands are converted into residential or industrial areas. Applying modern agriculture technologies such as hydroponic could help to overcome the problem. However, hydroponics requires special attention in adjusting the pH and nutrient levels to maximize plant growth, so an automated system is needed to manage the process. In this research, a smart hydroponic system is proposed by applying Adaptive Networkbased Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Internet-of-Things. The IoT system consists of sensor, actuator, and data processing layer is designed to monitor and control the condition of pH and nutrition of the observed plants. Then, the ANFIS algorithm is designed to control the level of pH and nutrition. The experiment results show that the system can automatically adjust the pH and nutrient levels to the expected range for growing plants, and the fuzzy controller made using ANFIS are more accurate and stable than the fuzzy controller made using Sugeno. This study shows that ANFIS has excellent performance when controlling multiple actuators, as long as the data set has great granularity and well defined.

Misuse of a person's data can be found anywhere because of a lack of knowledge about how to manage data and secure it properly. The rapid development of information technology, creates various activities easily, including in the health sector. In the field of health itself, there is a long-distance consultation using various applications that facilitate long-distance relationships between doctors and patients, known as telemedicine. However, the emergence of this development does not deny the existence of cybermedicine. Cyber medicine is the dissemination of clinical and non-clinical patient information that can be misused for personal gain that can harm others. This can be used in telemedicine, all online-based, so there is a possibility of data leakage. The authors want to examine the extent of data protection for patients who use telemedicine services. This study was conducted using a literature review method taken from articles related to telemedicine. Therefore, there is a need for regulations to provide legal protection for victims who experience theft of personal data by providing certainty in the management of data and information, especially the management of personal data. If the data is not managed properly and appropriately, it will lead to abuse and cybercriminal attacks.

The popularity of Metaverse as an entertainment, social, and work platform has led to a great need for seamless avatar integration in the virtual world. In Metaverse, avatars must be updated and rendered to reflect users' behaviour. Achieving real-time synchronization between the virtual bilocation and the user is complex, placing high demands on the Metaverse Service Provider (MSP)'s rendering resource allocation scheme. To tackle this issue, we propose a semantic communication framework that leverages contest theory to model the interactions between users and MSPs and determine optimal resource allocation for each user. To reduce the consumption of network resources in wireless transmission, we use the semantic communication technique to reduce the amount of data to be transmitted. Under our simulation settings, the encoded semantic data only contains 51 bytes of skeleton coordinates instead of the image size of 8.243 megabytes. Moreover, we implement Deep Q-Network to optimize reward settings for maximum performance and efficient resource allocation. With the optimal reward setting, users are incentivized to select their respective suitable uploading frequency, reducing down-sampling loss due to rendering resource constraints by 66.076% compared with the traditional average distribution method. The framework provides a novel solution to resource allocation for avatar association in VR environments, ensuring a smooth and immersive experience for all users.

The concept of smart building includes the optimization of energy usage in a building. One of the possible solutions for this is to adaptively adjust appliances utilization according to activity level in the building. Thus, an intelligent activity estimation system needs to be developed. However, massive annotated dataset is necessary to train the system. Therefore, we propose a system that enables rapid data annotation to collect the massive dataset. With the proposed system, an image can be annotated within 4.8 seconds in average. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The development of science and technology is currently experiencing rapid progress, starting in the fields of energy, oil, non-destructive testing, health, agriculture, and other fields. The use of radioactive substances in the health sector is used for radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, and radiodiagnostics. The use of excess nuclear and radioactive substances can endanger living things and the environment. Monitoring and supervision of the use of these elements are very needed in order to avoid their utilization for non-peaceful purposes, such as terrorism. Nowadays, terrorist attacks in Indonesia began to evolve from the use of conventional explosives to the use of chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear materials. The data shows that during the period 2011-2019, there have been six attempted terror attacks using chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear elements. This paper examines the role of ministries/agencies in anticipating the use of nuclear and radioactive substances for terrorism. Based on the results of the library study, there are several ministries/agencies that have protocols for handling terrorism attacks that use chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear elements, but they are still sectoral. Therefore, it can be concluded that the integration of the regulations/protocols in handling terrorist attacks by using nuclear and radioactive elements are needed in order to increase the monitoring and supervision of the handling of radioactive waste. In addition, it is necessary to add the RPM tools to prevent the misuse of radioactive substances and nuclear materials by irresponsible parties.

Learning Universal and Robust 3D Molecular Representations with Graph Convolutional Networks

To learn accurate representations of molecules, it is essential to consider both chemical and geometric features. To encode geometric information, many descriptors have been proposed in constrained circumstances for specific types of molecules and do not have the properties to be "robust": 1. Invariant to rotations and translations;2. Injective when embedding molecular structures. In this work, we propose a universal and robust Directional Node Pair (DNP) descriptor based on the graph-representations of 3D molecules. Our DNP descriptor is robust compared to previous ones and can be applied to multiple molecular types. To combine the DNP descriptor and chemical features in molecules, we construct the Robust Molecular Graph Convolutional Network (RoM-GCN) which is capable to take both node and edge features into consideration when generating molecule representations. We evaluate our model on protein and small molecule datasets. Our results validate the superiority of the DNP descriptor in incorporating 3D geometric information of molecules.
