This paper presents a methodology to detect personality and basic emotion characteristics of crowds in video sequences. Firstly, individuals are detected and tracked, then groups are recognized and characterized. Such information is then mapped to OCEAN dimen-sions, used to find out personality and emotion in videos, based on OCC emotion models. Although it is a clear challenge to validate our results with real life experi-ments, we evaluate our method with the available liter- A ture information regarding OCEAN values of different Countries and also emergent Personal distance among people. Hence, such analysis refer to cultural differences of each country too. Our results indicate that this model generates coherent information when compared to data provided in available literature, as shown in qualitative and quantitative results. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

The Fisher Geometry and Geodesics of the Multivariate Normals, without Differential Geometry

Choosing the Fisher information as the metric tensor for a Riemannian manifold provides a powerful yet fundamental way to understand statistical distribution families. Distances along this manifold become a compelling measure of statistical distance, and paths of shorter distance improve sampling techniques that leverage a sequence of distributions in their operation. Unfortunately, even for a distribution as generally tractable as the multivariate normal distribution, this information geometry proves unwieldy enough that closed-form solutions for shortest-distance paths or their lengths remain unavailable outside of limited special cases. In this review we present for general statisticians the most practical aspects of the Fisher geometry for this fundamental distribution family. Rather than a differential geometric treatment, we use an intuitive understanding of the covariance-induced curvature of this manifold to unify the special cases with known closed-form solution and review approximate solutions for the general case. We also use the multivariate normal information geometry to better understand the paths or distances commonly used in statistics (annealing, Wasserstein). This paper introduces a novel forecastings technique based on randomized fuzzy cognitive maps (FCM), called LRHFCM (or large reservoir of randomized high-order FCM) for predicting univariate time series. LR-HFCM is a hybrid method combining fuzzy time series (FTS), FCMs, and reservoir computing. It is a type of echo state network (ESN) consisting of the input layer, intermediate (or large reservoir) layer, and output layer, where LASSO regression is applied to train the output layer. The novelty of this approach is that the internal layer includes a very large reservoir, considering different combinations from the sets of concepts and order using a certain number of sub-reservoirs to capture different dynamics of input time series. It is important to highlight that the weights within each sub-reservoir are chosen randomly and remain constant throughout the training process. The validity of the LR-HFCM approach is evaluated across 15 different time series datasets. The results highlight the outperformance of the LR-HFCM technique in comparison to various baseline models.

Semi-supervised learning (SSL) essentially pursues class boundary exploration with less dependence on human annotations. Although typical attempts focus on ameliorating the inevitable error-prone pseudo-labeling, we think differently and resort to exhausting informative semantics from multiple probably correct candidate labels. In this paper, we introduce Fuzzy Positive Learning (FPL) for accurate SSL semantic segmentation in a plug-and-play fashion, targeting adaptively encouraging fuzzy positive predictions and suppressing highly-probable negatives. Being conceptually simple yet practically effective, FPL can remarkably alleviate interference from wrong pseudo labels and progressively achieve clear pixel-level semantic discrimination. Concretely, our FPL approach consists of two main components, including fuzzy positive assignment (FPA) to provide an adaptive number of labels for each pixel and fuzzy positive regularization (FPR) to restrict the predictions of fuzzy positive categories to be larger than the rest under different perturbations. Theoretical analysis and extensive experiments on Cityscapes and VOC 2012 with consistent performance gain justify the superiority of our approach. Codes are provided in https://***/qpc1611094/FPL.

This paper presented a sentiment analysis of the Indonesian government's policies in overcoming Covid 19 through twitter data using several classification methods, namely SVM, Naive Bayes, and LSTM. Based on the analysis of the twitter data, it was found that the twitter community in Indonesia gave negative sentiments to government policies in handling Covid 19. From the experimental results, it was found that SVM gave the best sentiment results compared to Naïve Bayes and LSTM by providing an accuracy of 88.5%.

Recent advances in robust semi-supervised learning (SSL) typically filter out-of-distribution (OOD) information at the sample level. We argue that an overlooked problem of robust SSL is its corrupted information on semantic level, practically limiting the development of the field. In this paper, we take an initial step to explore and propose a unified framework termed OOD Semantic Pruning (OSP), which aims at pruning OOD semantics out from in-distribution (ID) features. Specifically, (i) we propose an aliasing OOD matching module to pair each ID sample with an OOD sample with semantic overlap. (ii) We design a soft orthogonality regularization, which first transforms each ID feature by suppressing its semantic component that is collinear with paired OOD sample. It then forces the predictions before and after soft orthogonality decomposition to be consistent. Being practically simple, our method shows a strong performance in OOD detection and ID classification on challenging benchmarks. In particular, OSP surpasses the previous state-of-the-art by 13.7% on accuracy for ID classification and 5.9% on AUROC for OOD detection on TinyImageNet dataset. Summary: Named entity recognition (NER) is a fundamental part of extracting information from documents in biomedical applications. A notable advantage of NER is its consistency in extracting biomedical entities in a document context. Although existing document NER models show consistent predictions, they still do not meet our expectations. We investigated whether the adjectives and prepositions within an entity cause a low label consistency, which results in inconsistent predictions. In this paper, we present our method, ConNER, which enhances the label dependency of modifiers (e.g., adjectives and prepositions) to achieve higher label agreement. ConNER refines the draft labels of the modifiers to improve the output representations of biomedical entities. The effectiveness of our method is demonstrated on four popular biomedical NER datasets;in particular, its efficacy is proved on two datasets with 7.5–8.6% absolute improvements in the F1 score. We interpret that our ConNER method is effective on datasets that have intrinsically low label consistency. Proton beam therapy is an advanced form of cancer radiotherapy that uses high-energy proton beams to deliver precise and targeted radiation to tumors. This helps to mit-igate unnecessary radiation exposure in healthy tissues. Real-time imaging of prompt gamma rays with Compton cameras has been suggested to improve therapy efficacy. However, the camera's non-zero time resolution leads to incorrect interaction classifications and noisy images that are insufficient for accurately assessing proton delivery in patients. To address the challenges posed by the Compton camera's image quality, machine learning techniques are employed to classify and refine the generated data. These machine-learning techniques include recurrent and feedforward neural networks. A PyTorch model was designed to improve the data captured by the Compton camera. This decision was driven by PyTorch's flexibility, powerful capabilities in handling sequential data, and enhanced G PU usage. This accelerates the model's computations on large-scale radiotherapy data. Through hyperparameter tuning, the validation accuracy of our PyTorch model has been improved from an initial 7 % to over 60 %. Moreover, the PyTorch Distributed Data Parallelism strategy was used to train the RNN models on multiple G PU s, which significantly reduced the training time with a minor impact on model accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

Large language models have demonstrated impressive universal capabilities across a wide range of open-ended tasks and have extended their utility to encompass multi-modal conversations. However, existing methods encounter challenges in effectively handling both image and video understanding, particularly with limited visual tokens. In this work, we introduce Chat-UniVi, a Unified Vision-language model capable of comprehending and engaging in conver-sations involving images and videos through a unified visual representation. Specifically, we employ a set of dynamic visual tokens to uniformly represent images and videos. This representation framework empowers the model to ef-ficiently utilize a limited number of visual tokens to simul-taneously capture the spatial details necessary for images and the comprehensive temporal relationship required for videos. Moreover, we leverage a multi-scale representation, enabling the model to perceive both high-level seman-tic concepts and low-level visual details. Notably, Chat-UniVi is trained on a mixed dataset containing both images and videos, allowing direct application to tasks involving both mediums without requiring any modifications. Exten-sive experimental results demonstrate that Chat- UniVi con-sistently outperforms even existing methods exclusively de-signed for either images or videos. CLINICAL DETERIORATION PREDICTION IN BRAZILIAN HOSPITALS BASED ON ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS AND TREE DECISION MODELS

Early recognition of clinical deterioration (CD) has vital importance in patients' survival from exacerbation or death. Electronic health records (EHRs) data have been widely employed in Early Warning Scores (EWS) to measure CD risk in hospitalized patients. Recently, EHRs data have been utilized in Machine Learning (ML) models to predict mortality and CD. The ML models have shown superior performance in CD prediction compared to EWS. Since EHRs data are structured and tabular, conventional ML models are generally applied to them, and less effort is put into evaluating the artificial neural network's performance on EHRs data. Thus, in this article, an extremely boosted neural network (XBNet) is used to predict CD, and its performance is compared to eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and random forest (RF) models. For this purpose, 103,105 samples from thirteen Brazilian hospitals are used to generate the models. Moreover, the principal component analysis (PCA) is employed to verify whether it can improve the adopted models' performance. The performance of ML models and Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS), an EWS candidate, are evaluated in CD prediction regarding the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and geometric mean (G-mean) metrics in a 10-fold cross-validation approach. According to the experiments, the XGBoost model obtained the best results in predicting CD among Brazilian hospitals' data. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.
