This paper presents an implementation of a P2P Web Browser, called We2Peer(1), for publishing web pages on internet through peer-to-peer networks. The present proposal overcomes the problems involving entities dependency and content availability, by the user side, changing the conventional way used to publish web pages on Internet The proposed solution allows anyone who has a computer connected to the Internet, even through domestic ADSL connection, to publish web pages on their own machines. By using a peer-to-peer web browser another mechanism for searching web pages is offered based on DHT (Distributed Hash Tables). The user interface, provided by Web2Peer, carries all functions needed for creating, editing, publishing, searching, downloading and replicating the web pages on the peer-to-peer network.

Context-aware applications use information from their surrounding environment to adapt their behavior. This paper proposes a reflexive, loose-coupled, event-based infrastructure named CxFramework to aid the development of such complex applications. CxFramework is composed of several kinds of services. Context information is modeled using ontologies from which higher-level context information can be inferred. The details of context acquisition and processing are transparent to the developer. Implementation aspects of the prototype are discussed and a performance analysis is presented to show its viability. © 2009 IEEE.

In an automated negotiation process, it is usual for one party not to reveal their preferences to its opponent. In an attempt to adjust itself to this process, each trade agent can be endowed with capabilities of learning and detecting its opponent's changing preferences. This paper presents techniques for drift detection that are useful in this scenario: the Instance-Based Learning algorithms (IB1, IB2 and IB3) and the Bayesian Networks. Theoretically, a group of expert agents is able to achieve better results than an individual, therefore, the DWM is part of these studies, once it provides an effective strategy for integrating the decision of several expert agents. The experiments performed revolve around the settings DWM-IB3 and DWM-Bayesian Network. The performance of each system was evaluated for gradual, moderate and abrubt drifts in concept, and the results showed that both settings are able to efficiently detect drifts in the preferences of the opponent. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.

This paper presents a Distributed Data Mining technique based on a multiagent environment, called SMAMDD (MultiAgent System for Distributed Data Mining), which uses model integration. Model Integration consists in the amalgamation of local models into a global, consistent one. In each subset, agents perform mining tasks locally and, afterwards, results are merged into a global model. In order to achieve that, agents cooperate by exchanging messages, aiming to improve the process of knowledge discover generating accurate results. The multiagent system for Distributed Data Mining proposed in this paper has been compared with classical machine learning algorithms which are based on model integration as well, simulating a distributed environment. The results obtained show that SMAMDD can produce highly accurate data models. © 2006 IEEE.

In this paper we propose a novel strategy for converging dynamic policies generated by adaptive agents, which receive and accumulate rewards for their actions. The goal of the proposed strategy is to speed up the convergence of such agents to a good policy in dynamic environments. Since it is difficult to have the good value for a state due to the continuous changing in the environment, previous policies are kept in memory for reuse in future policies, avoiding delays or unexpected speedups in the agent's learning. Experimental results on dynamic environments with different policies have shown that the proposed strategy is able to speed up the convergence of the agent while achieving good action policies.

Managing UCONabc policies in modern distributed computing systems is a challenge for traditional approaches. The provisioning model has trouble to keep track and to synchronize large numbers of distributed policies, outsourcing model may suffer from network overhead and single point of failure. This paper describes an approach to manage distributed UCONabc policies, derived from the combination of authorization assertions and policy templates. It combines the benefits of provisioning and outsourcing, eliminating their respective drawbacks. Prototyping details and performance evaluation are shown, messages are 42.7% smaller than provisioning and response times are faster than outsourcing. © 2015 IEEE.

Distributed Constraint Optimization Problems (DCOP) has emerged as one of the most important multiagent coordination techniques, due to its ability to optimize the global function modeled as a set of constraints. This paper presents a study that proposes to use of distributed constraint optimization techniques to achieve energetic efficiency on railroad driving. The objectives are to present a real world problem with dynamic behavior as a DCOP, compare the main algorithms for this formalism and evaluate the quality of the solutions obtained.

Convolutional neural networks have been successfully applied for video content detection in the last years. However, such cognitive models usually demand the availability of several gigabytes of memory and present a low detection throughput, as a result, they are not feasible for resource-constrained devices, especially for real-time applications like video streaming. In this paper, we address real-time video content detection in resource-constrained devices in a threefold manner. First, we improve detection throughput by means of a frame sampling technique. Then, we propose a new evaluation measure towards proper deployment of convolutional neural networks in resource-constrained devices. Finally, we address the accuracy degradation caused by the porting of the convolutional neural network, applying a lightweight classification verification technique. The evaluation results, through a real-time demanding application, show that the proposed approach can detect up to 301 frames/sec, demanding only 9 megabytes of memory while reaching up to 89.3% of accuracy. Besides, we can increase the detection throughput by up to 10 times, with no effects on accuracy, and further increase accuracy without effects on processing demands.

Applications using P2P as an Overlay network in MANet (P2M) are very unstable in terms of MANet interconnections and P2P churn. MANet-based P2P applications usually create a considerable overhead on the P2P consumer due to the control of the end-to-end communication with the peer that provides the shared content. Moreover, traditional P2P networks offer polluted contents wasting the device's scarce resources. This paper proposes a service that minimizes the P2M environment instabilities for mobile devices and reduces the probability of downloading corrupt contents. A prototype was developed to show that SP2MS can be easily integrated into the traditional P2P infrastructure.
