Coffee beans are one of the high-value commodities in Indonesia, but the sorting method for the quality of coffee beans still uses visual methods and sieves with mechanical machines. This study aims to provide an alternative to classifying coffee beans using Deep Learning algorithms, such as the ResNet-18 and MobileNetV2. The dataset used is USK-COFFEE which consists of two classes, the normal coffee bean class, and the defect coffee bean class. The models were trained using the balanced and imbalanced datasets, meaning that two scenarios were performed. From the results of this study, the accuracy value for the ResNet-18 model was 91.50% when trained on the balanced dataset and 90.87% on the imbalanced dataset. It outperformed the MobileNetV2 architecture, which only achieved 0.8125 and 0.8112 accuracy scores when trained on the balanced and imbalanced datasets, respectively. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

SFA-Net: A Selective Features Absorption Network for Object Detection in Rainy Weather Conditions

In recent years, object detection approaches using deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have derived major advances in normal images. However, such success is hardly achieved with rainy images due to lack of visibility. Aiming to bridge this gap, in this article, we present a novel selective features absorption network (SFA-Net) to improve the performance of object detection not only in rainy weather conditions but also in favorable weather conditions. SFA-Net accomplishes this objective by utilizing three subnetworks, where the feature selection subnetwork is concatenated with the object detection subnetwork through the feature absorption subnetwork to form a unified model. To promote further advancement in object detection impaired by rain, we propose a large-scale rainy image dataset, named srRain, which contains both synthetic rainy images and real-world rainy images for training and testing purposes. srRain is comprised of 25 900 rainy images depicting diverse driving scenarios in the presence of rain with a total of 181 164 instances interpreting five common object categories. Experimental results display that our SFA-Net reaches the highest mean average precision (mAP) of 77.53% on a normal image set, 62.52% on a synthetic rainy image set, 37.34% on a collected natural rainy image set, and 32.86% on a published real rainy image set, surpassing current state-of-the-art object detectors and the combination of image deraining and object detection models while retaining a high speed. © 2012 IEEE.

Weather forecasting has gained attention many researchers from various research communities due to its effect to the global human life. The emerging deep learning techniques in the last decade coupled and the wide availability of massive weather observation data have motivated many researches to explore hidden hierarchical pattern in the large volume of weather dataset for weather forecasting. The purposes of this research are to build a robust and adaptive statistical model for forecasting univariate weather variable in Indonesian airport area and to explore the effect of intermediate weather variable related to accuracy prediction using single layer Long Short Memory Model (LSTM) model and multi layers LSTM model. The proposed forecasting model is an extension of LSTM model by adding intermediate variable signal into LSTM memory block. The premise is that two highly related patterns in input dataset will rectify the input patterns so make it easier for the model to learn and recognize the pattern from the training dataset. In an effort to achieve a robust model for learning and recognizing weather pattern, this research will also explore various architectures such as single layer LSTM and Multiple Layer LSTM (4 layers LSTM). The dataset is weather variable data collected by Weather Underground at Hang Nadim Indonesia airport. This research used visibility as predicted data and temperature, pressure, humidity, dew point as intermediates data. The best model of LSTM in this experiment is multiple layers LSTM and the best intermediate data is pressure variable. Using the pressure variable this model has gained the validation accuracy 0.8060 and RMSE 0.0775. © 2018 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.

This paper attempts to explore students' collaborative learning behavior patterns in different simulation systems. Two mobile CSCL learning environments (Augmented Reality simulation and Traditional simulation) for helping university students to acquire physics knowledge were designed. A total of 40 students, grouped into twenty pairs, were randomly assigned to the two learning environments for conducting an inquiry task. Their collaborative learning behaviors were recorded and analyzed by quantitative content analysis and lag sequential analysis. The results indicated that the students' collaborative inquiry learning was supported in both environments. Particularly, the students using the AR-simulation showed a more cohesive collaborative inquiry learning behavior pattern. This study provides a new perspective for educators or system designers to deeply observe students' learning behaviors in a CSCL environment by using sequential analysis. Moreover, the AR-simulation system might be a suitable learning environment for enhancing students' collaborative inquiry learning. In addition, suggestions for designing a simulated learning environment are proposed. © 2012 IEEE.

The existence of fine-grained image classification supporting smart retail provides effectiveness in recognizing products with high similarity. However, the generic classification method performs poorly in identifying products from a subordinate category. This paper aims to identify augmentation techniques to leverage the Vision Transformer (ViT) model to classify the fine-grained grocery product, which involves embedding patches and transformer encoders to extract the main features. First, we develop a fine-grained image dataset with ColorJitter, CutOut, and combining both augmentations. Secondly, we perform experiments and analysis of ViT size, embedded patch size and image size in the patch embedding process. Lastly, the ViT model are evaluated according to the image sizes 224, 384, and 512 in accuracy, loss, and confusion matrix. The highest accuracy was obtained at 0.9922. The ColorJitter and CutOut improved the confusion matrix in ViT-B/16 and ViT-L/16 with an image size of 384 and 512. The results show that both augmentations in the ViT model are able to distinguish fine-grained grocery products. © 2023 IEEE.

In this case, Enterprise Architecture can help an organization to match its information technology resources with business processes and strategies to achieve their goals. Domain data can be shifted in any direction so it will be shared in different distributions to its original domain. This could be a problem since the model was trained with different distributions. It is found that adversarial domain adaptation using domain adversarial neural networks (DANN) can help to solve this problem on some scale. DANN can minimize the discrepancy between source and target data so the model can work well in both domains. The experiment is done by utilizing MNIST dataset that shifted into some conditions. In a condition when the shifting of distribution is too far, DANN is struggling to maintain the knowledge extracted from source data which leads to underperformance in the source and target domain. In contrast, when the shifting is closer, DANN can easily fit the model so it can perform well in both domains. It proves DANN is one of the good approaches to performing domain adaptation in small discrepancies. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm based on Decomposition with Dynamical Resource Allocation (MOEA/D-DRA) is one of the most successful decomposition based multiobjective algorithm. Its main feature is a mechanism to allocate different computational effort proportional to the difficult of each subproblem. Despite its success, MOEA/D-DRA has a large set of parameters and operators, whose selection could be a difficult task. This paper aims at improving the performance of MOEA/D-DRA by means of a hyper-heuristic using two parameter/operator selection phases: one off-line strongly based on Iterated Race Automatic Algorithm Configuration (Irace) and another one (online) based on the Upper Confidence Bound (UCB) technique. The proposed approach is compared with the original MOEA/D-DRA, NSGAII and IBEA over 51 instances of 7 well known benchmarks (CEC 2009, GLT, LZ09, MOP, DTLZ, ZDT and WFG). Results show that Irace and UCB are interesting methods to support the hyper-heuristic functioning when selecting parameters/operators of MOEA/D-DRA in the addressed problems.
