In general, public or private organizations or companies have used information-based technology as a support to improve business performance to be more effective and efficient in order to achieve a company’s business goals. Given the large contribution of information technology in the application of hotel applications as a supporting information system, it is a vital system that must avoid risks that can hinder and cause harm to the hotel management business processes. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out risk management using the COBIT 5 framework to manage possible risks that may occur based on the APO12 (Manage Risk) domain. From the evaluation results of the data obtained through observation and interviews as well as the calculation of the results of the questionnaire based on 6 APO12 subdomains, the results of the risk management level capability assessment in hotel applications are still at level 3 or have reached the level of established process with the target to be achieved at level 4 resulting in a gap of 1 level. Based on the results obtained, it is necessary to propose recommendations that can be used by hotels in improving the application of information technology risk management so that in the future it can achieve the expected target level so that the APO12 level of capability can increase and become more optimal.

IT Governance are one of the needs in managing Enterprise Level IT. This study shows part of the decision domain of IT Governance Help, which are IT Investment and Prioritization. The purpose of this study is to determine feasibility of implementation open source ERP system Odoo project management module that replaces current system based on operational, economic, and technical aspects. The method used are Fit / Gap Analysis and Cost Benefit model using economic impact worksheet. The analysis is done by comparing the requirement with features owned by current system and Odoo ERP system. This research resulted that Odoo ERP System is feasible in the 3 aspects, the operational feasibility Odoo reaching 72% Fit, the economic feasibility with ROI of 84%, and technical feasibility indicating the technical requirement can be fulfilled by leasing AWS server. The conclusion is the open source ERP system Odoo project management module is feasible to be applied in terms of 3 aspects that have been studied, those are operational, economic, and technical.

Notification Oriented Paradigm(NOP)and Imperative Paradigm:A Comparative Study

This paper presents a new programming paradigm named Notification Oriented Paradigm (NOP) and analyses performance aspects of NOP programs by means of an experiment. NOP provides a new manner to conceive, structure, and execute software, which allows better performance, causal-knowledge organization, and entity decoupling than standard solutions based upon current paradigms. These paradigms are essentially Imperative Paradigm (IP) and Declarative Paradigm (DP). In short, DP solutions are considered easier to use than IP solutions thanks to the concept of high-level programming. However, they are considered slower to execute and lesser flexible to program than IP. Anyway, both paradigms present similar drawbacks like causal-evaluation redundancies and strongly coupled entities, which decrease software performance and processing distribution feasibility. These problems exist due to an orientation to monolithic inference mechanism based upon sequential evaluation by means of searches over passive computational entities. NOP proposes another manner to structure software and make its inferences, which is based upon small, smart, and decoupled collaborative entities whose interaction happen by means of precise notifications. This paper discusses NOP as a paradigm and presents certain comparison of NOP against IP. Actually, performance is evaluated by means of IP and NOP programs with respect to a same application, which allow demonstrating NOP superiority.

Fully polarimetric radar systems are capable of simultaneously transmitting and receiving in two orthogonal polarizations. Instantaneous radar polarimetry exploits both polarization modes of a dually-polarized radar transmitter and receiver on a pulse by pulse basis, and can improve the radar detection performance and suppress range sidelobes . In this paper, we extend the use of instantaneous radar polarimetry for radar systems with multiple dually-polarized transmit and receive antennas. Alamouti signal processing is used to coordinate transmission of Golay pairs of phase codes waveforms across polarizations and multiple antennas. The integration of multi- antenna signal processing with instantaneous radar polarimetry can further improve the detection performance, at a computational cost comparable to single channel matched filtering.

Supervisory Control Theory (SCT) is a powerful framework to design a controller for a Discrete Event System (DES). However, several issues appear because of the different nature of SCT and synchronous-based systems, on which a controller will be executed. While SCT, which relies on automata theory, is based on the occurrence of asynchronous events, a computer-based system is based on a synchronous digital system. Even though most of the contributions to overcome the problems derived by this fact concentrate on the usability for programming Logic Controllers, no significant contribution has been made for embedded execution platform. If so, it relies on the hand-coded implementation of the supervisor controller. The work here proposed, combines previous research contributions to develop an embedded and distributed platform for supervisor automata model execution. No code translation is required, since the models, after simulation, can be directly executed on the proposed platform. The results obtained by two case studies show the feasibility of the conceived platform. © 2021 IEEE.

Wireless sensor networks can be used in habitat monitoring for detecting fire, in disaster for helping rescue teams and in agriculture for sensing humidity. Node localization is essential for some important sensor network applications. Despite the high relative accuracy of some localization algorithms, node localization is still an opened research area, due to the physical phenomena such as attenuation, reflection, diffraction, scattering and so forth. The current developed algorithms have different accuracy when are tested under dissimilar environments. We propose to use Smart Beacon Nodes (SBNs) to infer the Obstruction Level Indicator over an occupied area, then, use this indicator for estimating the distance among nodes. In our experimental simulation, SBNs decrease the node localization error of Triangular Centroid Localization and Weighted Centroid Localization up to 18%.

Unbiased Estimation using Underdamped Langevin Dynamics

In this work we consider the unbiased estimation of expectations w.r.t. probability measures that have non-negative Lebesgue density, and which are known point-wise up-to a normalizing constant. We focus upon developing an unbiased method via the underdamped Langevin dynamics, which has proven to be popular of late due to applications in statistics and machine learning. Specifically in continuous-time, the dynamics can be constructed so that as the time goes to infinity they admit the probability of interest as a stationary measure. In many cases, time-discretized versions of the underdamped Langevin dynamics are used in practice which are run only with a fixed number of iterations. We develop a novel scheme based upon doubly randomized estimation as in [17, 19], which requires access only to time-discretized versions of the dynamics. The proposed scheme aims to remove the dicretization bias and the bias resulting from running the dynamics for a finite number of iterations. We prove, under standard assumptions, that our estimator is of finite variance and either has finite expected cost, or has finite cost with a high probability. Local Sequential MCMC for Data Assimilation with Applications in Geoscience

This paper presents a new data assimilation (DA) scheme based on a sequential Markov Chain Monte Carlo (SMCMC) DA technique [36] which is provably convergent and has been recently used for filtering, particularly for high-dimensional non-linear, and potentially, non-Gaussian state-space models. Unlike particle filters, which can be considered exact methods and can be used for filtering non-linear, non-Gaussian models, SMCMC does not assign weights to the samples/particles, and therefore, the method does not suffer from the issue of weight-degeneracy when a relatively small number of samples is used. We design a localization approach within the SMCMC framework that focuses on regions where observations are located and restricts the transition densities included in the filtering distribution of the state to these regions. This results in immensely reducing the effective degrees of freedom and thus improving the efficiency. We test the new technique on high-dimensional (d ∼ 104 − 105) linear Gaussian model and non-linear shallow water models with Gaussian noise with real and synthetic observations. For two of the numerical examples, the observations mimic the data generated by the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission led by NASA, which is a swath of ocean height observations that changes location at every assimilation time step. We also use a set of ocean drifters' real observations in which the drifters are moving according the ocean kinematics and assumed to have uncertain locations at the time of assimilation. We show that when higher accuracy is required, the proposed algorithm is superior in terms of efficiency and accuracy over competing ensemble methods and the original SMCMC *** Codes 62M20, 60G35, 60J20, 94A12, 93E11, 65C40 © 2024, CC BY.

The stringent requirements on size and power consumption constrain the conventional hearing aid devices from providing the patients an economic and user friendly solution, specifically for better noise cancellation. With the advancements in technologies such as integrated circuits design, wireless communications and digital signal processing techniques, the wireless hearing aids having multi-microphones, analog, digital and mixed signals and radio frequency signals processing circuits, DSP and programmable units seem to be promising to provide enhanced performance. The focus of this paper is about the system simulation of a typical wireless hearing aid using Agilent Advanced Design System™. The behavioral modeling features are exploited to enable the whole system simulations including electro-acoustic transducers. A few system level simulation results are included. © 2005 IEEE.
