This paper presents a realistic power transformer condition assessment and Health Index (HI) determination technique. The real-time operating data of twenty-seven power transformers of Bhutan Power Corporation Limited in transmission substations are used for condition evaluation. The diagnostic test data are combined into nine diagnostic groups for condition assessment. The conventional method of scoring and weighting average and the fuzzy logic methods are adopted for the condition assessment of power transformers. The excel program was developed for the conventional method for seamless evaluation. All the parameters harmonies the estimation and classification of the transformer operating condition. Then, this paper proposed new procedures for validating the conventional system of HI determination by the fuzzy logic method. © 2022 IEEE.

Real-time Vehicle Detection and Tracking on Fisheye Traffic Monitoring Video in Compressed Domain

Our goal is to develop real-time vehicle detection and tracking schemes for fisheye traffic monitoring video using the temporal information in the compressed domain without decoding the entire video. Two algorithms are proposed. The first algorithm starts with a conventional single-frame detector, but we introduce a multi-frame information fusion stage to improve the final detection and tracking accuracy, which is implemented using multi-modal bi-directional LSTM (MM bi-LSTM) network. The second algorithm first constructs multi-frame motion trail image, and then a single-image multi-head detector is designed to produce bounding boxes of an individual frame. The first scheme can be viewed as a detect-to-track design, and the second scheme is track-to-detect. We tested our proposals on the ICIP2020 VIP Cup dataset in H.265 video format. The aforementioned algorithms are applied to the motion fields and residual images in the H.265 compressed data set. It turns out that their detection and tracking performances are on par with their pixel-domain counterparts, and they can achieve the state-of-the-art accuracy of conventional video object detectors and trackers. If the decoding process for video compression is not counted, their computational complexities are much lower than the conventional pixel-domain video object detectors and trackers. © 2023 S. Position-based protocols in vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) depend on the transmission of periodic beacon messages to keep the nodes informed about the current position of their neighbors. However, an excessive load of beacons can drastically deteriorate the network performance. This work presents a novel adaptive vehicular traffic-aware strategy to compute the beacon interval in a position-based protocol. The strategy relies on three mobility factors: vehicular density, the mean difference of speed among neighbors, and the spatial distribution of neighbors. Its effectiveness is proven through extensive simulations in an urban mobility scenario using the packet delivery ratio, the average end-to-end delay, overhead, and processing time as the performance metrics. The results show that our approach maintains a high delivery ratio and low End-To-End delay, overhead, and processing time regardless of the density of the surrounding vehicular traffic. The results also show that our method uses the available beacon interval range more efficiently than another traffic-aware approach.

The problems of high voltage equipment usually come from the imperfection of solid insulation, which may be caused by poor workmanship during cable installation, leading to multi-void inside solid insulation and subsequently partial discharge when that cable is put in service. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the discharge phenomena of multi-void inside solid insulation by creating artificial defects in epoxy resin and testing under AC and very low frequency voltage sources. The test object consists of a single void with different void diameters and multi-void created by injecting the air voids at atmospheric pressure into epoxy resin. The partial discharge inside a single void and multi-void is detected by using a conventional and unconventional sensor. The results of PD measurement are represented in the phase-resolved partial discharge (PRPD) and several partial discharge parameters, such as PD charge magnitude and PD repetition rate. In addition, the results are analyzed to observe the impact of the multi-void with different conditions such as variable void diameter, the thickness of epoxy resin, type of voltage source, and PD sensor. The test can specify trends toward breakdown and the severity of multi-void inside solid insulation. © 2022 IEEE.

Developing a successful dialogue policy for a multi-domain task-oriented dialogue (MDTD) system is a challenging task. Basically, a desirable dialogue policy acts as the decision-making agent who understands the user's intention to provide suitable responses within a short conversation. Furthermore, offering the precise answers to satisfy the user requirements makes the task even more challenging. This paper surveys recent advances in multi-domain task-oriented dialogue policy optimization and summarizes a number of solutions to policy learning. In particular, the case study on the task of travel assistance using the MDTD dataset based on MultiWOZ containing seven different domains is investigated. The dialogue policy optimization methods, categorized into dialogue act level and word level, are systematically presented. Moreover, this paper addresses a number of challenges and difficulties including the user simulator design and the dialogue policy evaluation which need to be resolved to further enhance the robustness and effectiveness in multi-domain dialogue policy representation. © 2023 M. Task oriented chatbots are a sub-topic related to chatbots, where chatbots will perform certain tasks with specific goals. One part of creating a task-oriented chatbot is doing intent classification. Intent classification is a task of text classification. As in general text classification, the required dataset requires a label to carry out the classification process. To speed up and help the utterance analysis process, there is already a method, namely clustering, and Density-based clustering is a part of clustering that can determine cluster patterns based on arbitrary data, with DBScan as one of its algorithms. This research used 10000 client utterance data of awhatsapp based e-commerce conversation. SentenceBert also used as a state of art sentence embedding. This research yield silhouette score of 0.327 as the best result from eps of 0.1 and MinPts of 95. However, based on the cluster result, sentences labelled as noise can be further clustered. Text Preprocessing, text augmentation and sentence embedding techniques can be explored to increase the cluster performance.

Multi-robot systems can provide substantial increase in efficiency and/or flexibility in different scenarios. Applications in various settings have been studied in the literature, such as disaster management, surveillance, object transportation as well as search-and-rescue. A particular case that can highly benefit from the employment of multiple agents is the logistics in a warehouse scenario. This work proposes an multi-agent Q-learning based algorithm with curriculum learning and transfer learning to perform the path planning process. With progressively more complex stages of training as well as knowledge transfer from one stage to another, the algorithm is capable of achieve high success rates. In order to validate the proposed method, simulations were done to compare it to other combinations of the used techniques, as well as using Q-learning only. Scalability tests were also performed. The proposed method achieved up to 94% success rate after training.

This paper describes the automation of a forearm prosthesis using the signal collected by a Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor. The FBG sensor is applied to one subject's forearm to measure the deformation as a result of the index and middle fingers when moved individually. It is possible to control a one joint model prosthesis allied to a compliant hand mechanism through signal analyses. Each finger movement has its features, such as its amplitude, which opens the possibility of using those to control different parts of the prosthesis, joint rotation by the middle finger, and compliant hand movement by the index finger. This paper presents results regarding prosthesis assembling, Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) communication latency between prosthesis and computer and tests with pre-acquired and processed FBG signal data. The prosthesis wrist rotation movement is related to the middle finger signal, and its compliant mechanism actuation is due to index finger signal. The communication between prosthesis and the computer had a mean latency of 140 ms and a standard deviation of 18 ms. The results demonstrate the potential for using the sensor system and automated prosthesis in other applications involving real-time forearm sensing, multi-finger signal analysis, and prosthetic movement. © 2023 SBMO/SBMag.

In this paper, considering photovoltaic/battery sourced microgrids with grid-forming droop control in the load interface converter for power management, two alternative converter topologies for the battery are tested: dual boost interleaved converter and three-phase interleaved converter. These topologies are based on the conventional bidirectional buckboost converter and their employment is to allow a reduction in component sizing, improvement in power quality, and higher output voltage. Analysis of the operation of these converters in different operation modes of the microgrid is carried out, including battery normal charging, battery normal discharging, battery charging limit, and maximum state-of-charge, through simulations in MATLAB/Simulink environment. Results suggest advantages such as reduced stress on switches and battery charging current ripple for the two interleaved converters tested and the potential implementation of higher output voltage for the dual boost converter.

This paper presents the Partial Discharge (PD) investigation of defective medium voltage (3.6/6(7.2) kV) cable terminations and the impact of using different voltage sources namely AC 50 Hz and Very Low Frequency (VLF) voltage source of 0.1 Hz as supply voltage. The PD is detected by High Frequency Current Transformer (HFCT). Electric field stress investigation is carried out by using Finite Element Method Magnetic (FEMM) simulation tool. The defective cable terminations used are no-stress control, needle tip on insulation screen and sandpaper scrubbed termination. PD investigation is carried out by applying 50 Hz and 0.1 Hz voltage sources and Partial Discharge Inception Voltage (PDIV), Partial Discharge Extinction Voltage (PDEV), PD magnitude and Pulse Repetition Rate are recorded. The comparison of PDIV values demonstrates the impact of different voltage sources. © 2022 IEEE.
