In this paper we present an augmented reality system for mobile devices that facilitates 3D brain tumor visualization in real time. The system uses facial features to track the subject in the scene. The system performs camera calibration based on the face size of the subject, instead of the common approach of using a number of chessboard images to calibrate the camera every time the application is installed on a new device. Camera 3D pose estimation is performed by finding its position and orientation based on a set of 3D points and their corresponding 2D projections. According to the estimated camera pose, a reconstructed brain tumor model is displayed at the same location as the subject’s real anatomy. The results of our experiment show the system was successful in performing the brain tumor augmentation in real time with a reprojection accuracy of 97%.

The concept of providing differentiated classes of resilient services over communications networks has received a lot of attention in the literature. A number of proposals tried to address the problem by provisioning different classes of services with different protection schemes. However, most of these works are applied to a single layer and lack cross layer coordination in multilayer scenarios. In addition, there is an increasing need for supporting services with very high resilience requirements over future communications networks. This, however, has to be done in a cost efficient manner and without over-engineering the network. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach that simplifies the whole design and achieves both high resilience and differentiation. Our approach, utilizes the spine concept idea of embedding a subnetwork at the physical layer with comparatively high availability link and node values [1]. This lays a foundation for differentiation between multiple classes of flows. Then, cross layer mapping and spine-aware routing are performed in a way that transfers this differentiation capability to the upper layer network and flows. We provide two joint routing-mapping optimization formulations and evaluate their performance in a multilayer scenario.

This paper proposes a multilevel shunt active power filter (SAPF) to deal with either harmonic currents compensation or reactive power compensation. Such a device can reduce the harmonic distortion at the grid currents provided by non-linear loads located in stiff systems. The proposed SAPF is based on three-phase bridge (TPB) converters connected to cascaded single-phase transformers. The transformers arrangement permits the compensator to use a single dc-link unit which simplifies the control strategy and number of sensors. The multilevel waveforms are generated by using a suitable PWM strategy associated with the transformers turns ratio. Modularity and simple maintenance make the proposed SAPF an attractive solution compared to some conventional configurations. The model, PWM technique and control strategy, are presented as well as studies considering harmonic distortion and semiconductor losses estimation. Simulation and experimental results are presented in order to validate theoretical approaches.

In spite of Anderson’s theorem1, disorder is known to affect superconductivity in conventional s-wave superconductors2–11. In most superconductors, the degree of disorder is fixed during sample preparation. Here we report measurements of the superconducting properties of the two-dimensional gas that forms at the interface between LaAlO3 (LAO) and SrTiO3 (STO) in the (111) crystal orientation, a system that permits in situ tuning of carrier density and disorder by means of a back gate voltage Vg. Like the (001) oriented LAO/STO interface12–15, superconductivity at the (111) LAO/STO interface can be tuned by Vg. In contrast to the (001) interface, superconductivity in these (111) samples is anisotropic, being different along different interface crystal directions, consistent with the strong anisotropy already observed other transport properties at the (111) LAO/STO interface16,17. In addition, we find that the (111) interface samples "remember" the backgate voltage VF at which they are cooled at temperatures near the superconducting transition temperature Tc, even if Vg is subsequently changed at lower temperatures. Errors in data transmission cannot be known directly when the data transmission process is fulfilled, but error is often prevalent in data transmission. Faulty or missing frames or bits are standard errors and to control or check errors requires a unique method, in this case, the Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject are methods that can be used to do so, comparison of time of error checking process with Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject is very important to get the right method to check the ignorance, from testing performed that the method of Go-Back-N is much faster than the other methods.

Heterointerfaces of SrTiO3 with other transition metal oxides make up an intriguing family of systems with a bounty of coexisting and competing physical orders. Some examples, such as LaAlO3/SrTiO3, support a high carrier density electron gas at the interface whose electronic properties are determined by a combination of lattice distortions, spin-orbit coupling, defects, and various regimes of magnetic and charge ordering. Here, we study electronic transport in mesoscale devices made with heterostructures of SrTiO3 sandwiched between layers of SmTiO3, in which the transport properties can be tuned from a regime of Fermi-liquid like resistivity (ρ ∝ T2) to a non-Fermi liquid (ρ ∝ T5/3) by controlling the SrTiO3 thickness. In mesoscale devices at low temperatures, we find unexpected voltage fluctuations that grow in magnitude as T is decreased below 20 K, are suppressed with increasing contact electrode size, and are independent of the drive current and contact spacing distance. Magnetoresistance fluctuations are also observed, which are reminiscent of universal conductance fluctuations but not entirely consistent with their conventional properties. Candidate explanations are considered, and a mechanism is suggested based on mesoscopic temporal fluctuations of the Seebeck coefficient. An improved understanding of charge transport in these model systems, especially their quantum coherent properties, may lead to insights into the nature of transport in strongly correlated materials that deviate from Fermi liquid theory. This document presents a sensitivity analysis to evaluate the impact of different methods used to calculate ground-return impedances of power cables in electromagnetic transient responses. The sensitivity is observed in terms of the obtained accuracy in the voltage and current transient responses varying cable distance separation and ground resistivity. The propagation modes of open circuit voltages and the characteristics impedance of the line are also analyzed under the same criterion.

We have carried out experimental and numerical analyses for reconstruction of permittivity distribution using a pair of long distance small size electrodes and additional arc electrodes. A reconstruction method for permittivity distribution that uses a genetic algorithm and numerical analysis (finite element method) based on measured capacitance has been proposed and investigated. However, the conventional method had a problem in accuracy. In this paper, the reconstruction method has been improved by using a Parameter-free Genetic Algorithm(PfGA) based on measured capacitance and electric potential. In addition, we have evaluated the fitness function with PfGA. © 2016 The Institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

At the Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe determining accident-prone areas on roads in Lhokseumawe still using manual systems. Determination of accident-prone areas are less effective because the police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe just using the data of the last year and had to repeatedly calculate manually accident-prone areas based on the number of human casualties. In this study the system implementation CUSUM method (Cummulative Summary) to determine the accident-prone areas designed using the web-based programming language PHP. In this system there are three processes to determine areas prone to accidents, the accident rate calculations based on the weighted severity, blacksite calculations using the Z-Score method for determining areas prone to accident blackspots and calculations using the CUSUM method to determine the critical points of an accident. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe years 2009-2013.
