The discovery of efficient,selective,and stable electrocatalysts can be a key point to produce the largescale chemical fuels via electrochemical CO_(2) reduction(ECR).In this study,an earth-abundant and nontoxic ZnO-based electrocatalyst was developed for use in gas-diffusion electrodes(GDE),and the effect of nitrogen(N)doping on the ECR activity of ZnO electrocatalysts was ***,a ZnO nanosheet was prepared via the hydrothermal method,and nitridation was performed at different times to control the N-doping *** an increase in the N-doping content,the morphological properties of the nanosheet changed significantly,namely,the 2D nanosheets transformed into irregularly shaped ***,the ECR performance of Zn O electrocatalysts with different N-doping content was assessed in 1.0 M KHCO_(3) electrolyte using a gas-diffusion electrode-based ECR *** the ECR activity increased after a small amount of N doping,it decreased for higher N doping *** them,the N:ZnO-1 h electrocatalysts showed the best CO selectivity,with a faradaic efficiency(FE_(CO))of 92.7%at-0.73 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE),which was greater than that of an undoped Zn O electrocatalyst(FE_(CO)of 63.4%at-0.78 V_(RHE)).Also,the N:ZnO-1 h electrocatalyst exhibited outstanding durability for 16 h,with a partial current density of-92.1 mA cm^(-2).This improvement of N:ZnO-1 h electrocatalyst can be explained by density functional theory calculations,demonstrating that this improvement of N:ZnO-1 h electrocatalyst comes from(ⅰ)the optimized active sites lowering the free energy barrier for the rate-determining step(RDS),and(ⅱ)the modification of electronic structure enhancing the electron transfer rate by N doping.

Rechargeable magnesium-ion(Mg-ion)batteries have attracted wide attention for energy ***,magnesium anode is still limited by the irreversible Mg plating/stripping ***,a well-designed binary Bi_(2)O_(3)-Bi_(2)S_(3)(BO-BS)heterostructure is fulfilled by virtue of the cooperative interface and energy band engineering targeted fast Mg-ion *** built-in electronic field resulting from the asymmetrical electron distribution at the interface of electron-rich S center at Bi_(2)S_(3) side and electron-poor O center at Bi_(2)O_(3) side effectively accelerates the electrochemical reaction kinetics in the Mg-ion battery ***,the as-designed heterogenous interface also benefits to maintaining the electrode *** these advantages,the BO-BS electrode displays a remarkable capacity of 150.36 mAh g^(−1) at 0.67 A g^(-1) and a superior cycling *** investigation would offer novel insights into the rational design of functional heterogenous electrode materials targeted the fast reaction kinetics for energy storage systems.

Radiation-induced osteoradionecrosis of the ribs in a patient with breast cancer: A case report

Osteoradionecrosis of the chest wall after radiation therapy for breast cancer is rare;however, it is one of the most severe complications of radiation treatment. Radiologically, osteoradionecrosis can manifest as a focal lucent area in bone, periostitis, sclerosis, and cortical irregularity of bones on X-ray or computed tomography;therefore, differentiation from bone metastasis can be challenging. Associated insufficiency fractures, ulceration, and skin necrosis may also occur. We encountered a patient with osteoradionecrosis in the left anterior ribs after radiation therapy for breast cancer. Chest computed tomography revealed cortical irregularity with severe sclerotic changes of the anterior arc of the left fist to the fourth ribs. The patient's skin on the left chest wall exhibited ulceration with purulent discharge. Ultrasonography of the left chest wall revealed diffuse skin thickening with hyperechoic changes in the subcutaneous fat layer of the left chest wall with calcifications. The patient underwent rib resection and chest wall reconstruction. Recognizing characteristic imaging features of osteoradionecrosis is important for radiologists to differentiate it from bone metastasis and plan appropriate treatment. © 2022

Plating current density distribution of lithium metal anodes in pouch cells

The uniformity of current density distribution upon electrodes is one of the most important factors determining the lithium dendrites growth and cycling performance of lithium metal batteries(LMBs). Herein,current density distributions of lithium metal anodes induced by various engineering factors, consisting of uneven cathode, electrolyte distribution, and different tab positions, and their effects on the electrochemical performance are investigated theoretically and experimentally in pouch cells. The deviation of current density in lithium metal anodes ranges from 2.47% to 196.18% due to the different levels of uneven cathode materials. However, the deviation is just 13.60% for different electrolyte thicknesses between cathodes and anodes, even a ten-layer separator in some positions. The maximum deviation for variational tab positions is only 0.17%. The nonuniformity in current density distribution results in severe dendrite growth issues and poor electrochemical performance of LMBs. This work not only confirms the direct correlation between the uneven current density distribution and lithium deposition behaviors, but also points out the decisive effects of cathode surface roughness on current distribution of anodes, to which more attentions should be paid in practical applications of LMBs.

Optical lateral forces (OLFs) play progressively important roles in optical manipulation, finding numerous applications in enantioselective sorting and sensing. Probing OLFs on achiral particles is also essential in interpreting extraordinary light-matter interactions. Recent advances have shown that the OLF can emerge from the transverse Belinfante spin momentum (BSM) and get maximum values when the light is circularly polarized. Here, by searching the Poincaré sphere, we find that the optical gradient force and radiation pressure correlate strongly with the ellipticity and azimuthal angles on the Poincaré sphere, which may exceed the OLF in a focused line-shaped beam. Consequently, the total lateral force may reach its maximum under the elliptical polarization rather than the circular polarization. Meanwhile, the ellipticity angle corresponding to the maximum force varies significantly with the particle size and its refractive index. Our work unravels a novel and efficient way to harness optical forces in a full-polarization manner and provides a new playground for various biophysical applications. © 2024 American Chemical Society.

Human behaviors can be understood from various forms of information such as sleep, emotions or health conditions. With the aid of advanced technology, sensors can capture the conditions of humans and provide valuable insights. In this work, we used imputation strategies to overcome the challenge of incomplete data records and feature misalignment. A two-stage modeling of a Random Forest classifier was done to make final predictions on the test set. This relatively simple yet heavily data-centric approach leverages the strengths of multi-output classification and sequential learning by enhancing data integrity and feature consistency.

Regulation of carbon distribution to construct high-sulfur-content cathode in lithium-sulfur batteries

Lithium-sulfur(Li-S)battery is regarded as one of the most promising next-generation energy storage systems due to the ultra-high theoretical energy density of 2600 Wh kg^(-1).To address the insulation nature of sulfur,nanocarbon composition is essential to afford acceptable cycling capacity but inevitably sacrifices the actual energy density under working ***,rational structural design of the carbon/sulfur composite cathode is of great significance to realize satisfactory electrochemical performances with limited carbon ***,the cathode carbon distribution is rationally regulated to construct high-sulfur-content and high-performance Li-S ***,a double-layer carbon(DLC)cathode is prepared by fabricating a surface carbon layer on the carbon/sulfur *** surface carbon layer not only provides more electrochemically active surfaces,but also blocks the polysulfide ***,the DLC configuration with an increased sulfur content by nearly 10 wt%renders an initial areal capacity of 3.40 mAh cm^(-2) and capacity retention of 83.8%during 50 cycles,which is about two times than that of the low-sulfur-content *** strategy of carbon distribution regulation affords an effective pathway to construct advanced high-sulfur-content cathodes for practical high-energy-density Li-S batteries.

As an increasing number of electric vehicles, the coordinated charging algorithms attract significant attention to reduce the operational costs and facilitate the scalability. This paper derives a distributed electric vehicle charging algorithm based on the alternating direction method of multipliers framework. Taking the total operational cost of electric vehicles as well as battery cell constraints into consideration, optimal charging currents of electric vehicles are obtained without central coordinators. The numerical simulation is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed distributed optimal charging strategy. © 2022 IEEE.
