Bacteria are microscopic organisms that can be found in many environments. They are abundant and have many roles in our life. Studying bacteria is essential so that we can identify the bacteria that are needed for many industrial applications. However, the main problem is that majority of the bacteria are unculturable, hampering the exploration of bacteria from different environments. Metagenomics approach which employs Next Generation Sequencing technology could help study bacteria by utilizing 16S rRNA marker gene. This study aims to demonstrate data mining and bioinformatics approaches to analyze 16S rRNA sequencing data. The raw sequencing data of 16S rRNA was collected from biological database. Then, the data were trimmed, denoised, and clustered to generate Amplicon Sequence Variants (ASVs). Diversity (alpha and beta) and taxonomic analyses were then conducted to elucidate the bacterial diversity and taxonomic profile of ASVs. The results of this work showed that Shannon and PD indices in China's hot spring were higher than Singapore and the USA. Furthermore, a significant difference was observed in the PD index. The unweighted UniFrac distance also showed there was a significant difference of the bacterial communities between the three locations. In addition, the taxonomic investigation unveiled prevalent bacterial groups in the ecosystem, namely Proteobacteria, Chloroflexi, Cyanobacteria, and Crenarchaeota. The research outcomes have the potential to serve as a foundational resource for subsequent bacterial metagenomic research, particularly the hot spring environment.

Depressive Disorders (DD) is one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the world that may lead to suicide cases. To prevent the latter, ubiquitous early detection systems may be effective. Recent studies have since researched the development of such systems by exploiting several forms of data, including video, audio, Ecological Momentary Assessments (EMA), and passive sensing data using sensors embedded in mobile devices. To summarize the trends, opportunities, and existing challenges in this field, this study reviewed 15 papers to answer four research questions. EMA was the most popular data to be used in this task, but other approaches, such as using video, audio, and typing behaviors, may be considered due to the subjectivity of EMA. These data were typically recorded using smartphones and analyzed using Machine Learning (ML). However, most of the developed systems had yet to be implemented. Overall, it was concluded that further studies may need to explore usages of more objective data in multimodal approaches as well as consider using Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) to deploy these systems to provide more effective and efficient diagnoses. Future studies must also take into account the existing challenges of the data and infrastructures, such as the weaknesses of several data types, limitations of mobile devices, as well as the challenges of diagnosis approaches.

Convolutional Neural network is state of the art of image recognition or image classification. However to build the robust model using CNN needs many parameters adjusted, and choosing the good combination hyperparameter which impacts taking much computation time. Genetic algorithm is one method metaheuristic which is robust for choosing the combinatorial possible hyperparameter. This model also uses ResNet-50 which is a pretrained model of convolutional neural network that consists 50 layers. By using a pretrained like ResNet-50, it will increase the performance model. CNN-ResNet with efficient genetic algorithm (EGA) to optimize the hyperparameter. The EGA algorithm utilizes transfer learning techniques in its algorithm so that the optimization process on CNN can achieve unified accuracy values quickly. The best performance model optimized using EGA outperformed the ResNet-50 model and the model optimized using GA and VLGA in classifying organic and inorganic materials. The accuracy value obtained from EGA is 97.53% with a loss of 0.08.

Open-world Semi-Supervised Learning (OSSL) is a realistic and challenging task, aiming to classify unlabeled samples from both seen and novel classes using partially labeled samples from the seen classes. Previous works typically explore the relationship of samples as priors on the pre-defined single-granularity labels to help novel class recognition. In fact, classes follow a taxonomy and samples can be classified at multiple levels of granularity, which contains more underlying relationships for supervision. We thus argue that learning with single-granularity labels results in sub-optimal representation learning and inaccurate pseudo labels, especially with unknown classes. In this paper, we take the initiative to explore and propose a uniformed framework, called Taxonomic context prIors Discovering and Aligning (TIDA), which exploits the relationship of samples under various granularity. It allows us to discover multi-granularity semantic concepts as taxonomic context priors (i.e., sub-class, target-class, and super-class), and then collaboratively leverage them to enhance representation learning and improve the quality of pseudo labels. Specifically, TIDA comprises two components: i) A taxonomic context discovery module that constructs a set of hierarchical prototypes in the latent space to discover the underlying taxonomic context priors; ii) A taxonomic context-based prediction alignment module that enforces consistency across hierarchical predictions to build the reliable relationship between classes among various granularity and provide additions supervision. We demonstrate that these two components are mutually beneficial for an effective OSSL framework, which is theoretically explained from the perspective of the EM algorithm. Extensive experiments on seven commonly used datasets show that TIDA can significantly improve the performance and achieve a new state of the art. Deep peak property learning for efficient chiral molecules ECD spectra prediction

Chiral molecule assignation is crucial for asymmetric catalysis, functional materials, and the drug industry. The conventional approach requires theoretical calculations of electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra, which is time-consuming and costly. To speed up this process, we have incorporated deep learning techniques for the ECD prediction. We first set up a large-scale dataset of Chiral Molecular ECD spectra (CMCDS) with calculated ECD spectra. We further develop the ECDFormer model, a Transformer-based model to learn the chiral molecular representations and predict corresponding ECD spectra with improved efficiency and accuracy. Unlike other models for spectrum prediction, our ECDFormer creatively focused on peak properties rather than the whole spectrum sequence for prediction, inspired by the scenario of chiral molecule assignation. Specifically, ECDFormer predicts the peak properties, including number, position, and symbol, then renders the ECD spectra from these peak properties, which significantly outperforms other models in ECD prediction, Our ECDFormer reduces the time of acquiring ECD spectra from 1-100 hours per molecule to 1.5s. Demo Abstract: Real-Time Out-of-Distribution Detection on a Mobile Robot

In a cyber-physical system such as an autonomous vehicle (AV), machine learning (ML) models can be used to navigate and identify objects that may interfere with the vehicle’s operation. However, ML models are unlikely to make accurate decisions when presented with data outside their training distribution. Out-of-distribution (OOD) detection can act as a safety monitor for ML models by identifying such samples at run time. However, in safety critical systems like AVs, OOD detection needs to satisfy real-time constraints in addition to functional requirements. In this demonstration, we use a mobile robot as a surrogate for an AV and use an OOD detector to identify potentially hazardous samples. The robot navigates a miniature town using image data and a YOLO object detection network. We show that our OOD detector is capable of identifying OOD images in real-time on an embedded platform concurrently performing object detection and lane following. We also show that it can be used to successfully stop the vehicle in the presence of unknown, novel samples. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A vast number of technologies based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) have proliferated into various application domains. As part of its objectives to develop agents which can behave and think like humans, some branches of AI have focused on developing various algorithms that can learn from input data without explicitly being programmed. In the food industry, notably in restaurants, smartphone technology is typically used to collect data from customers efficiently such as orders or feedback toward the services provided. The use of smartphones by some restaurants is motivated by their convenience and efficiency. Furthermore, various promotions, discounts, and membership benefits offered by cellular service providers have attracted the use of smartphones as devices for improving restaurant services to their customers. This study aimed to conduct a sentiment analysis related to multi-brand restaurants in Indonesia based on customer feedback. The data retrieved from the Google Play Store consists of 756 reviews from Boga, Champs, Hangry, Ismaya, Kulo, and Union groups. In this study, TF-IDF was used as a vectorizer to represent customer feedback as numeric vectors. The polarity sentiment of customer feedback was recognized using classifier models based on machine learning such as Logistic Regression, Naive Bayes (NB), Random Forest, and Support Vector Machine (SVM) as the classifier. The empirical results showed that SVM has the best accuracy of 93.10 % average accuracy followed by Logistic Regression with 92.41 %, Random Forest with 84.14 % average accuracy, and Naive Bayes with 76.55 % average accuracy.

In the context of smart cities where green infras-tructure is incentived, besides important benefits like regulating temperatures and absorbing pollutants among others, tour by urban forests is a way to experience closer contact with nature near of big urban centers. Eventually, visitors get lost, and helping these people with velocity is important to avoid severe incidents. Normally, rescue operations mobilize firefighters, ex-pensive equipment like helicopters and public resources. Following that idea of reducing search time in rescue operations, this paper considers the Data Mule Routing Problem with Limited Autonomy (DMRP-wLA). To find high-quality solutions, this paper proposes an Ant Colony Optimization algorithm enhanced with Reinforcement Learning to create an adaptive decision-making algorithm.

We have developed the Shopping Refugees Support Robot that enables the elderly to order items through Social Networking Service (SNS) by voice conversation without relying on smartphones. This paper proposes a detection method of dementia signs using this Robot. Concretely, deterioration of cognitive function is detected by the evaluation of short-term memory utilizing order history of the Robot. We expect detection of dementia signs on a daily basis without making the elderly person conscious of having a dementia test, by information that only the person knows. We implemented a prototype and confirmed its functional validity. © 2020 IEEE.

Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) Services have significant potential in digital content creation. The distinctive abilities of AIGC, such as content generation based on minimal input, hold huge potential, especially when integrating with semantic communication (SemCom). In this paper, a novel comprehensive conceptual model for the integration of AIGC and SemCom is developed. Particularly, a content generation level is introduced on top of the semantic level that provides a clear outline of how AIGC and SemCom interact with each other to produce meaningful and effective content. Moreover, a novel framework that employs AIGC technology is proposed as an encoder and decoder for semantic information, considering the joint optimization of semantic extraction and evaluation metrics tailored to AIGC services. The framework can adapt to different types of content generated, the required quality and the semantic information utilized. By employing a Deep Q Network (DQN), a case study is presented that provides useful insights into the feasibility of the optimization problem and its convergence characteristics. © 2023, CC BY.
