The Internet of Things (IoT) detects context through sensors capturing data from dynamic physical environments, in order to inform automation decisions within cyber physical systems (CPS). Diverse types of uncertainty in the IoT pipeline can propagate within and across nodes, involving complex interactions with security, privacy, and trust that remain largely unexplored. This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the types of uncertainties in IoT and how they propagate within IoT nodes and networks. We consider adversarial uncertainty in the context of distributed IoT networks to capture perturbations due to malicious actors in the network that can influence IoT security, privacy and trust. We examine the propagation of adversarial uncertainty and well-known uncertainty types, namely aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty, within the five distinct stages of sensing, communication, storage, processing and decision-making in an IoT pipeline, across network layer boundaries, and across nodes within an IoT network. Using this mapping, we analyse the interactions between the uncertainty types and their propagation, and security, privacy, and trust in IoT. Based on this analysis, we discuss guidelines and considerations for mitigating uncertainty in IoT through a smart grid use case study. © The Author(s) 2024.

Strategic materials design is essential for the development of small-diameter,tissue-engineered vascular ***-assembled nanofibers of elastin-like polypeptides represent promising vascular graft components as they replicate the organized elastin structure of native blood ***,the bioactivity of nanofibers can be modified by the addition of functional peptide *** the present study,we describe the development of a novel nanofiber-forming elastin-like polypeptide(ELP)with an arginine-glutamic acid-aspartic acid-valine(REDV)*** biological characteristics of the REDV-modified ELP nanofibers relevant to applications in vascular grafting were compared to ELP without ligands for integrin,ELP with arginine-glycine-aspartic acid(RGD)sequence,collagen and cell culture *** them,REDV-modified ELP nanofibers met the preferred biological properties for vascular graft materials,i.e.(i)inhibition of platelet adhesion and activation,(ii)endothelial cell adhesion and proliferation and(iii)maintenance of smooth muscle cells in a contractile phenotype to prevent cell *** results indicate that REDV-modified ELP nanofibers represent promising candidates for the further development of small-diameter vascular grafts.

CBDC-as-a-problem looks like a mania of interest from central banks and financial institutions all over the world. It may describe CBDC technology and CBDC technology development, the positive aspects of CBDC and its future perspectives as follows: The CBDC is linked to the existing banking systems in the past which was based on the past findings of the blockchain, DLT, etc., that possessed the qualities the previous ones did not have - security, trust, and transparency. Innovation, design and CBDC safety that falls below this paper are discussed in this section below. The paper proceeds to show several paths that central banks are taking to CBDC development given the regulation and changing dynamic of the financial world. However, the studies do not end there;information on the potential of CBDC for financial stability, monetary policy formulation trajectories, transaction privacy, and the role of banks is included. Given that in field of finance the CBDCs are becoming more and more important, this research paper shall ensure to provide consistent background to policymakers, financial institutions and society at large on CBDC and its structural implications. This guarantees that everyone is in the know so it will be possible for them to come up with compliant plans and decisions informed by the knowledge in this changing landscape that simply does not stop evolving. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, many organizations have developed lunar rovers for traveling over uneven terrain. Our research team has studied a rover using independently extending/retracting left and right wheelbases. In the case of four wheels, this method allows three wheels to remain stationary while moving. The independent extending/retracting locomotion of the wheel enables the traction to increase. This method provides a greater support force and improves the climbing performance on a loose slope. However, increased load on a sloped surface causes sideslipping, and the rover tilts its posture in downward. Our previous study confirmed that intentionally increased sinkage by the large wheel slip increased side forces from the soil. However, the lateral force is still insufficient and cause sideslipping on steep slopes. To increase the side force, this study focuses on the resistance between the wheel and the ground, along with the direction of wheel rotation. Specifically, we propose reverse rotation of the upper side wheel of the rover. This method increases dynamic sinkage by increased resistance from the soil during wheel driving. To confirm the effectiveness of method, this study conducts experiments that traversing loose slope with the rover. The results suggest that the proposed method greatly reduces sideslipping. In addition, the results indicated that the wheel sinkage increased. Therefore, the reverse rotation could increase the normal force of the wheels on the upper side. In summary, proposed method increased side forces and suppressed sideslipping. Hence, the reverse rotation prevents tilting the rover's posture downward on the slope. © 2024 International Society for Terrain-Vehicle systems. All rights reserved.

EFS-XGBoost: A robust framework for precision classification of COVID-19 cases

The emergence of the novel COVID-19 virus has had a profound impact on global healthcare systems and economies, underscoring the imperative need for the development of precise and expeditious diagnostic tools. Machine learning techniques have emerged as a promising avenue for augmenting the capabilities of medical professionals in disease diagnosis and classification. In this research, the EFS-XGBoost classifier model, a robust approach for the classification of patients afflicted with COVID-19 is proposed. The key innovation in the proposed model lies in the Ensemble-based Feature Selection (EFS) strategy, which enables the judicious selection of relevant features from the expansive COVID-19 dataset. Subsequently, the power of the eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) classifier to make precise distinctions among COVID-19-infected patients is *** EFS methodology amalgamates five distinctive feature selection techniques, encompassing correlation-based, chi-squared, information gain, symmetric uncertainty-based, and gain ratio approaches. To evaluate the effectiveness of the model, comprehensive experiments were conducted using a COVID-19 dataset procured from Kaggle, and the implementation was executed using Python programming. The performance of the proposed EFS-XGBoost model was gauged by employing well-established metrics that measure classification accuracy, including accuracy, precision, recall, and the F1-Score. Furthermore, an in-depth comparative analysis was conducted by considering the performance of the XGBoost classifier under various scenarios: employing all features within the dataset without any feature selection technique, and utilizing each feature selection technique in isolation. The meticulous evaluation reveals that the proposed EFS-XGBoost model excels in performance, achieving an astounding accuracy rate of 99.8%, surpassing the efficacy of other prevailing feature selection techniques. TSV filling process using electroless plating of CoWB barrier layer and direct electroplating of Cu on it was demonstrated. Conformal deposition of the barrier layer was performed for the high aspect ratio TSVs. Cu electrodeposition profiles for TSVs were studied by varying additive concentration and current density. Adhesion property measured by stud-pull test suggested that the annealing at 200 °C drastically improve adhesion strength of both a barrier layer and Cu/barrier stacked structures. © 2023 Japan Institute of Electronics Packaging.

Magnesium-based batteries are potential candidates for next-generation rechargeable batteries due to the divalent nature of magnesium cations and the natural abundance of magnesium resources. In this study, the electrochemical activity of Mg-6mass%Al-3mass%Ca anodes combined with Sn was investigated. Thin ribbons of the anode specimens were prepared by a single-roll rapid solidification method. The results showed that the electrochemical activity increased upon adding 1 mass% Sn, while it decreased for 3 mass% Sn. Based on the results of an X-ray diffraction analysis, the addition of Sn led to the formation of Mg2Sn and Ca2Sn phases, which increased the lattice distortion. Scanning electron microscopy observations indicated that these secondary phases were homogeneously distributed for 1 mass% Sn addition, while they were coarsely distributed for 3 mass% Sn. © 2025 The Japan Institute of Light Metals.
