The Investigation of Data Voting Algorithm for Train Air-Braking system Based on Multi-Classification SVM and ANFIS

The pressure data of the train air braking system is of great significance to accurately evaluate its operation state. In order to overcome the influence of sensor fault on the pressure data of train air braking system, it is necessary to design a set of sensor fault-tolerant voting mechanism to ensure that in the case of a pressure sensor fault, the system can accurately identify and locate the position of the faulty sensor, and estimate the fault data according to other normal data. A fault-tolerant mechanism based on multi-classification support vector machine(SVM) and adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system(ANFIS) is introduced. Multi-classification SVM is used to identify and locate the system fault state, and ANFIS is used to estimate the real data of the fault sensor. After estimation, the system will compare the real data of the fault sensor with the ANFIS estimated data. If it is similar,the system will recognize that there is a false alarm and record it. Then the paper tests the whole mechanism based on the real data. The test shows that the system can identify the fault samples and reduce the occurrence of false alarms.

Camera-based depth estimation methods are useful for various automobile applications. For example, depth estimation methods based on stereo cameras triangulate the depth between objects and cameras. However, they are susceptible to baseline distortion owing to vibrations, aging, and thermal expansion. On the contrary, depth estimation methods based on a monocular camera, such as depth-from-defocus, use a focusing mechanism or spectroscopic optics to calculate the depth from the difference of defocus images. However, because the change in sharpness, which is the inverse of defocus, is slightly in the depth direction, it is unsuitable for deep-range estimation. Therefore, we are developing depth-estimation methods that use a monocular camera with special focus images obtained through tilted optics, which have no baseline distortion problem and have a deep estimation range. When tilted optics are used, the plane of sharp focus (POF) appears tilted, while the depth of field (DOF) lies and increases toward the depth direction. Moreover, to allow for the use of only one image-sensor, a one-shot, we studied a depth estimation method using tilted optics with two different aperture sizes for each color wavelength by introducing concentric color filter apertures. However, as with conventional methods, the Gaussian sharpness model does not strictly fit to the actual sharpness, resulting in reduced estimation accuracy. In this study, we propose a method for high-speed and high-accuracy depth estimation that involves adding a split color filter aperture to a tilted optic and using a different sharpness model for each DOF side. © 2024 IEEE.

A task-board task is a task in which robots perform a set of fundamental assembly operations related to the assembly of a specific product such as inserting a part into another part, tightening bolts and nuts, attaching flexible parts, etc. In the task-board task competition in the industrial robotics category of the World Robot Summit (WRS) 2018, 15 teams from around the world performed the task. In our previous work, we observed recorded videos of the competition frame by frame and manually investigated the performance of robotic systems of the top four teams, focusing only on whether robots contact target parts. In this paper, we introduce frame sets to represent mainly contact states between robots, tools, or jigs and target parts to be handled for such a frame-by-frame analysis of the recorded videos, and based on the frame sets, we analyze the performance of robotic assembly systems of other teams as well as the top four teams in the task-board task competition in the WRS 2018, considering the usage of tools or jigs. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group and The Robotics Society of Japan.

Various alaryngeal voicing methods have been devised and put to practical use for people who lost the ability to speak normally due to the removal of the larynx. The objective of this study is to improve the quality of alaryngeal speech so that people who have lost their voices can communicate more freely. For the purpose, it is necessary to create a system that can control nonverbal information such as voice quality with the same degree of subtlety as normal speech. As a first step, we developed a prototype interface that allows the user to control the pitch of vocalizations with the rotation of the wrist. We believe that this interface will allow the user to control the pitch of vocalizations as desired, without requiring special training. In fact, the author's own trial use of the interface showed that after 30 minutes of practice, the accuracy of pitch control was improved, and to some extent, the speaker was able to speak at the desired pitch. The author also tried singing with the system. The results suggested the possibility of improvement in singing as well as normal singing. Therefore, the proposed interface was shown to be suitable for pitch control. © 2024 IEEE.

In the case of brass instruments, it is known that the blowing sensation perceived by the player can be adjusted by the craftsman. It would be beneficial to systematize such techniques, and it is necessary to know quantitatively how the self-oscillation characteristics change when the cross-sectional area profile of each part of the instrument is varied. However, the details of the effect of the differences in the cross-sectional area profiles on the self-oscillation are not clear. Because it takes a lot of cost to make a large number of prototypes to consider the effects of many parameters. Therefore, to evaluate the self-oscillation, we visualized the changes in oscillation characteristics on the numerical simulation. The results showed that the response characteristic parameters for oscillation, such as blowing pressure and volume flow rate, deviate by varying the cross-sectional area profile. © 2024 IEEE.

Photoplethysmogram (PPG) is sensitive to body movements and is corrupted by motion artifacts. Conventionally, motion artifacts are reduced by using acceleration at the measurement site. However, the reduction of motion artifacts using acceleration cannot reduce motion artifacts caused by structural changes inside biological tissues. We developed a new pulse rate monitoring system (IR-MAR) that focuses on the difference in the signal-to-noise ratio between dual-wavelength PPG to reduce motion artifacts inside biological tissues. We applied IR-MAR to 15 datasets during the exercise and found that the average MAE of IR-MAR was 7.73 ± 11.72 bpm, whereas 10 of the 15 datasets had an MAE of less than 2 bpm. For a more accurate pulse rate monitoring, IR-MAR requires the pulse component of the IR-PPG and the selection of the spectrum peaks must be improved. © 2023 IEEE.

DNS over HTTPS (DoH) enhances user privacy by encrypting DNS communications over HTTPS instead of plaintext. When all DNS messages are sent in plaintext, DNS queries can be examined and domain filtering applied if the queried domain name is identified as a phishing site or other such undesirable site. However, if DNS messages are encrypted over HTTPS, it can create many problems for network administrators. This paper proposes a method for detecting DoH communications from only non-encrypted information on a middlebox between user and resolvers by exploiting the fact that users always send a DNS query before they access a new domain. The middlebox can also identify the destination of the detected DoH traffic so that network administrators can recommend users to send DNS messages to a local DoH resolver with domain filtering instead of sending them to an open DoH resolver. In experiments to detect DoH communications during real communication from a web browser we achieved detection accuracy rates reaching 100% under certain parameters when the number of access IP addresses exceeded 350. To confirm the accuracy and generalizability of our experiments, the proposed method was also applied to captured HTTPS traffic data involving different web browsers and different DoH resolvers with an almost identical level of detection accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

Balancing performance and privacy in centralized machine learning, especially in sensitive domains such as medicine and finance, remains a significant issue. Concerns about data confidentiality result in a reluctance to share confidential data even among related entities, hindering integrated analysis despite its acknowledged benefits. Recent advancements in distributed data analysis have provided a solution to the concern, particularly through the framework of federated learning. This framework enables multiple clients to train models collaboratively while preserving the confidentiality of their data. Fed-DR-Filter extends federated learning by introducing the Privacy-Preserving Data Representation (PPDR) transformation algorithm that converts private datasets into a Global Data Representation (GDR) across multiple clients [4]. The GDR retains the correlation of the original data while ensuring its confidentiality. The PPDR is obtained by adding noise to the GDR, which is then used to filter noisy labels in federated learning environments based on the preserved correlation. Another recent development in distributed data analysis is Data Collaboration Analysis (DCA) [5]. It employs Collaborative Data Representation (CDR), a data representation almost identical to GDR, to directly generate high-performance models without the need for model sharing or iterative communication among clients. The present study builds the crucial role of CDRs and GDRs in DCA and Fed-DR-Filter by proposing a novel method for CDR creation with a solid theoretical foundation. The purpose is to enhance the performance of these techniques by providing an alternative and more effective algorithm for CDR and GDR creation. The primary contributions of this study include a novel optimization for CDR creation utilizing matrix manifold optimization and automated hyperparameter tuning. An algorithm for solving this problem is proposed with its empirical evaluation of artificial and real-world dataset

Handover is necessary for improving user equipment (UE) communication quality among different cells in mobile communication networks. However, the handover decision algorithm (HDA) parameters are often difficult to choose. The use of an inappropriate parameter, such as a handover margin (HOM), causes handover failure (HoF) or frequent handover (FHO), especially in heterogeneous networks (HetNet). Therefore, properly determining a handover parameter is crucial for avoiding the HoF and FHO, as well as improving network performance. In this paper, we propose a stochastic Petri Net (SPN) to model the behavior of a UE in a HetNet. We also evaluate and predict the impact on HoF and FHO by different values of HOM in the steady-state, where the FHO is considered as handover trigger probability (HoT). Finally, the HOM value for optimal handover performance is determined using the absolute difference between the HoF and HoT through numerical experiments. The optimal handover performance was obtained at a HOM value of 6.0 dB using the proposal SPN. © 2024 IEEE.

Multimodal ultrasonic vibration(UV)assisted micro-forming has been widely investigated for its advan-tages of further reducing forming loads and improving forming ***,the influence mecha-nism of different UV modes on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties was still ***-timodal UV assisted micro-compression tests on T2 copper with different grains and sample sizes were conducted in this *** microstructure evolution for different UV modes was observed by *** results showed that the true stress reduction caused by UV was increased sequentially with tool ultrasonic vibration(TV),mold ultrasonic vibration(MV)and compound ultrasonic vibration(CV).The region of grain deformation was shifted along the direction of UV,and the MV promoted the uniform distribution of deformation *** grain refinement,fiber streamline density,grain deformation and rotation degree were further enhanced under CV,due to the synergistic effect of TV and ***,a coupled theoretical model considering both acoustic softening effect and size effect was proposed for describing the mechanical *** a physical model of dislocation motion in different UV modes was developed for describing the microstructure *** maximum error between the theoretical and experimental results was only 2.39％.This study provides a theoretical basis for the optimization of UV assisted micro-forming process.
