A first-principles study on the quantum tunneling of methylhydroxycarbene isomerization in various solvents

Quantum tunneling phenomenon allows a high-barrier reaction to occur even though thermal energy is not sufficient to surmount the barrier. The phenomenon has been suggested to exist in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene which occured at 11 K. Here we study the quantum tunneling that occured in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde and to vinyl alcohol based on density functional calculations. The isomerization pathways are determined under the effect of various solvents which are modeled by polarizable continuum model (PCM). We use Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation to calculate the tunneling probability (T) and extend the usefulness of T into isomerization rate. The results show that the solvents give a significant effect on the isomerization rate of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde but an insignificant one on the isomerization rate to vinyl alcohol.

Bioelectric potential of plant produces a low electrical signal because of the plant activities like photosynthesis and respiration. Furthermore, the electrical signal will change because of the environmental factors such as temperature, humidity and human behavior. Some authors successfully used the bioelectric potential of plant for detecting the various human activities, like walking, jumping, open the door, and etc. They used decision tree (DT) J48, multi layer perceptron (MLP) and convolution neural network (CNN) as the analysis method. However, the previous accuracy was no satisfied and estimating the human position globally not specifically an exact location. This research has aim to construct a time series model for bioelectric potential dataset which is SARIMA model and to build infrastructure design of human position estimation in an exact location. For constructing the SARIMA model we use one observation location and obtained the best model is SARIMA (1,0,0) with accuracy of 80%. In addition, this research successfully designed the infrastructure of human position estimation using three locations. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2018.

A Randomized Algorithm for Chance Constrained Optimal Power Flow with Renewables

A chance constrained AC optimal power flow is to find the optimal economic operation plan whose probability satisfying AC power flow equations and various inequality constraints on operating limits of the power system is greater than a specified probability level. Even if a constraint condition for each uncertain power supply value is convex with respect to decision variables, the chance constrained problem is not convex in general. Thus, it is difficult to solve the problem within reasonable computational time. Employment of randomization techniques for this issue is proposed in this paper. A main advantage of the framework leads to a solution with a theoretical guarantee. Its sample complexities are of polynomial order for parameters of a given accuracy. The efficiency of this algorithm is demonstrated by applying it to the Japanese power system models.

Opinion Formation over Signed Gossip Networks

Opinion formation is investigated over signed gossip networks, where asymptotic and transient opinion behaviors are analyzed in detail. The network is modeled by a connected signed graph, where each edge of the graph has positive or negative weight, i.e., these edges represent friendly or hostile relationship. Interactions each of which occurs between two persons chosen randomly follow an asynchronous procedure. Then it is shown that their opinions always converge in mean square and converge almost surely. A convergence time is defined as the smallest time such that it takes for the values of nodes to get within a given neighborhood of the consensus value with high probability, regardless of initial state. An upper bound and a lower bound of the convergence time of the gossip algorithm are given in terms of a structure of the given network.

Computational technology is an important thing that needed in the whole of human life. Along with the development of computer technology, there are a significant data created and wait to be processed; we will get more advantages if it well-processed, if not we will see the data explosion, the data is just a useless stack. Research mitigates the other research paper and makes a conclusion and a report by PRISMA method. The development of computer technology will support the development of an organization. Considering any factors in choosing the right and suitable high-performance computer resource due to our organization is a must. The existing high-performance computing forms are Supercomputer, Grid Computing, Cluster Computing, and Cloud Computing. Based on this work, the last form of high-performance computing, Cloud Computing is one of the most used forms thus we mitigate its advantages and disadvantages. Recently, to process this vast data, we must have a high-performance computer and to provide it, this is not a cheap resource.

A distributed optimization for a multi-agent system connected by a directed unbalanced random network is considered. It is shown that a sequense of candidate solutions of the standard algorithm for distributed optimization converges to a Pareto optimal solution of a multi-objective optimization which is to minimize objective functions of agents in a mean square sense. This is illustrated through a numerical example. © 2017

The use of electronic textbooks (e-book) has been heavily studied over the years due to their flexibility, accessibility, interactivity and extensibility. Yet current shortcomings of ebook, which is often just a digitized version of the original book, do not encourage adoption. Consequently, this leads to a rethinking of e-book that should incorporate current technologies to augment its capabilities, where inclusion of information search and organization tools have shown to be favorable. This paper is on a preliminary work to add intelligence into such tools in terms of information retrieval. Construction of knowledge graph for e-book material with little overhead is first introduced. information retrieval through typed similarity query is then performed via random walk. Case study demonstrates the applicability of the e-book platform, with promising application and advancement in the area of electronic textbooks.

Teenagers can easily expose to criminal activities through media social, surrounding, and peers. They tend to imitate some of these criminal activities such as cyber bullying, fighting, cyber grooming and cyber harassment without thinking of his or communities' side-effect. Therefore, we develop a self-crime prevention modules encompassing faith, positivity, social relationship, role model and reflection tailored for school teens. Then, we make a list of survey questions using 4 Likert scale to measure their acceptance and adaptation after participating our self-crime module. About 105 school children aged 13-17 participated from Sekolah Menengah Titiwangsa and they responded positively with approximately 3.63 of average score. © 2018 IEEE.
