Nowadays wind turbine rotors are usually employed with pitch control mechanisms to avoid deep stall conditions. Despite that, wind turbines often operate under pitch fault situation causing massive flow separation to occur. Pure Blade Element Momentum (BEM) approaches are not designed for this situation and inaccurate load predictions are already expected. In the present studies, BEM predictions are improved through the inclusion of a stall delay model for a wind turbine rotor operating under pitch fault situation of -2.3° towards stall. The accuracy of the stall delay model is assessed by comparing the results with available Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations data.

Hard nonlinearity or hysteresis effect is the main obstacle in most smart material based actuators which makes their optimal usage impossible. Thus, it is essential to develop a comprehensive strategy for modeling and control in order to mitigate this hysteresis nonlinearity. This paper investigates the viability of the differential equations based models towards hysteresis characterization and control fusion strategy in order to solve the tracking problem in the piezoelectric-based actuators. The analytical and simulation results suggest that this category of model is simple to use and has clear physical meanings. More importantly, it is established that only Bouc-Wen (BW) model has the ability to be synthesized directly into the control design. Finally, a control strategy is devised based on BW model and is experimentally verified in the discrete-time domain.

Remarkable improvements on SAT solvers over the last decade have led the success of SAT-based solvers. However, existing SAT-based solvers cannot efficiently solve optimization and enumeration problems since those solvers invoke SAT solvers multiple times from scratch and do not reuse search information such as learnt clauses. Recently, incremental SAT method has been proposed to efficiently solve these problems. In addition, such incremental SAT API is proposed in SAT Race 2015. In this paper, we propose iSAT Library, an extended incremental SAT API, and describe its application. This proposed API allows users to implement SAT-based systems concisely and within Java. We show the effectiveness of using iSAT Library through experimental results on shop-scheduling, N-queens, and Hamiltonian cycle problems.

Wireless microrobots are endowed with promising future for medical tasks. In this paper, a novel mechanism with screw jet motion for a hybrid microrobot. The microrobot has a compact structure. It consists of an outer shell, a screw structure and an o-ring magnet as an actuator, which is fitted inside the microrobot. It is driven by a rotational magnetic field which is generated by three-axis Helmholtz coils. While the microrobot is in the magnetic field, the actuator is conversion of synchronous rotation with a rotating field using a "screw jet motion" to pull fluid through the centre of the microrobot. The experimental results indicated the microrobot can realize the flexible motion with good performance.

This paper proposed a VR-based self-rehabilitation system which utilizes the virtual training model rendered by OpenGL and collects electromyography (EMG) signals from the subjects to perform hand motion recognition. EMG signals are biomedical signals generated in muscles and can be applied in many fields such as clinical diagnosis and biomedical applications. The subjects were asked to manipulate a haptic device (Phantom Premium) to operate a virtual hand to catch a ball in the virtual environment which displayed on the computer's screen. A dry electrode was attached on the subject's skin to collect sEMG signals and recognize the action of grasping. Once caught by subjects, the virtual ball will appear in another location at random on the computer's screen. Therefore, the subject needs to manipulate the Phantom to the new destination and catch the ball once again. Combining sEMG with VR Technology, the proposed self-rehabilitation system could provide enhanced visual feedback about movement trajectory, which is beneficial to improve motor function task learning and execution compared with traditional therapy. By this method, stroke patients can realize self-rehabilitation exercise of upper limb at home. The effectiveness of the proposed rehabilitation system has been verified by experiments.

This paper presents 3D model generation of cattle by shape-from-silhouette method for ICT agriculture. The use of advanced ICT has any possibility to improve various agricultural activities. The authors have such a project whose targets are beef cattle. The goal of the project is to capture 3D shape information of cattle for the estimation of their body condition scores (BCS). Cattle do not stop moving because they are animals. Therefore, it is very difficult to capture their body shape information even using a commercial 3D scanner. Another reason is that the color of beef cattle is almost black and then a commercial 3D scanner like a laser range finder cannot be used. The authors use multiple RGB cameras to capture silhouette images of a cow and employ shape-from-silhouette method to generate its 3D model. Actually, the authors have taken multiple RGB camera images of cows and generated their 3D models. And then, it can be found that the generated 3D models' volumes of cows have positive correlation with their weights. This result says that the estimation of cows' weights is possible from multiple RGB camera images of them.

Recently, with the development of graphics devices and the widely use of 3D geometrical sensors, the quantity of multimedia data including 3D model data has become increasing. Therefore, the technological needs for searching those data to create multimedia contents are expanding. In this paper, the authors propose a 3D model data retrieval system using KAZE image feature that accepts 2D images as queries for the search. The paper explains a system overview and the details of its functionalities. It also shows experimental results. From the results, the proposed system as a 3D model search system that accepts a 3D model as a query indicates better performance than D2 method which is one of the popular 3D model search methods although it indicates not so good performance when accepts 2D images as the query.

LUC Algorithm in Visual Cryptography

Nowadays, messaging technology in digital data form more often used and not less messages that confidentially wanted. Then it should be modified so that can be understood only by the sender and the intended recipients. All of this system can be realization by using cryptography. LUC algorithms are introduced by Smith and Lennon in 1993. LUC algorithm is an algorithm that based on the use of Lucas sequence (specific arithmetic operations derived from Lucas row) that rarely used to enhance the security of the messages. In this research, LUC algorithm is combined with visual cryptography to process the encryption and the description of a colored image. Four different images were used in the trial here. The performance of the system is assessed using Structural similarity (SSIM) which has an assessment similar to human eye. If the image quality is the same as the original image, then the SSIM value is one. Whereas if the quality of decryption image is very different from the original image then the value of SSIM is zero.
