This paper proposes a protocol for a distributed optimization problem in multi-agent networks with equality and inequality constraints. Instead of computing dual optimizations as in previous protocols that can handle constraints, the proposed protocol utilizes additional data of information on past fulfillment of the constraints. Since equality constraints no longer enjoy techniques exploiting strict feasibility of inequality constraints, problems with equality constraints can never be solved by simply extending methods for inequality constraints. To develop a protocol, this paper introduces two diminishing parameters, one of which controls step sizes of decision variables moving to an optimum, while the other specifies the error bound of the equality constraints in each step of iteration. Appropriate choices of these parameters lead to a proof of consensus and convergence of the proposed protocol. A computational example is provided that illustrates the new protocol.

This paper presents several algorithms for multi-dimensional data clustering. The main difference of the algorithms introduced in this paper comparing to known ones is that the algorithms are multi-agent based and gossip. Hence, the number of computation in each step is not too large even for large data and the computational burden can be distributed. The basic algorithm is described as follows. Each data object is assigned to an agent in a network and its attributes constitute to a vector which is considered as the initial state of the agent. A common confidence threshold is set for all of the agents. The states of agents in the network will be updated time by time according to an iterative procedure: At each time, (i) two arbitrary agents are chosen randomly, (ii) they exchange their states, and (iii) if the distance between their states does not exceed the confidence threshold, they update their states as the average of the two. Under a certain condition, this algorithm converges almost surely in an equilibrium point such that any two agents either have the same final state or have distinct states which differ more than the confidence threshold from each other. In this way, the given data objects are partitioned into groups such that ones in the same group correspond to the agents with the same final state. Some modified algorithms for improving the performance of clustering and/or getting some prescribed condition are also introduced. © 2015 IEEE.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a protocol for distributed multi-agent optimization problem to minimize the average of objective functions of the agents in the network with satisfying constraints of each agent. The exact penalty method is applied to distributed optimization via a linear protocol, with employing two step-size parameters for the objective function and the constraint function of each agent. The proposed protocol works only with the decision variables and does not need additional variables such as dual variables. A proof of the convergence of the proposed protocol is provided as well as the boundedness under mild assumptions. The protocol is also illustrated by a numerical example. © 2015 EUCA.

This paper investigates two bounded confidence gossip algorithms, one with constant confidence threshold and the other with increasing one, for effective communicating between agents in a network among whom some opinion formation forms. Each agent in the network keeps a real value presenting its opinion about some matter. The opinions of agents will be updated time by time according to an iterative procedure. At each time, (i) two arbitrary agents are chosen randomly, (ii) they exchange their opinions, and (iii) if the distance between the opinions does not exceed some given confidence threshold, they update their opinions as the average of the two. It is shown that the algorithms almost surely drive any initial opinion profile to some opinion profile in which any two opinions either are the same or differ more than the confidence threshold. Moreover, the second algorithm can help achieving a prescribed number of different opinions on the convergence opinion profiles. © 2015 IEEE.

This paper presents an hybrid algorithm based on genetic algorithm and ant colony optimization for continuous optimization,which combines the global exploration ability of the former with the local exploiting ability of the *** proposed algorithm is evaluated on several benchmark *** simulation results show that the proposed algorithm performs quite well and outperforms classical ant colony optimization and genetic algorithm for continuous optimization,which efficiently balances two contradictory aspects of its performance: exploration and exploitation.

This paper addresses a method for easy recognition and regeneration of the robot motion initially made by the operator. This method is used for robot motion control to cope with painting, welding job and etc. The main processes are accurate modeling, control design and experimental evaluation. In this study, the models and controllers for all joints of 3DOF robot system are obtained individually. The robust control method based on H control framework is applied to design the control system for motion control. The experiment by comparison of the robust control method with the existing PID control method is performed on 3DOF robot system. And the results indicate that the proposed designing method is more efficient than the conventional PID method.

This paper proposes an impact metric for assumed software changes described in UML diagrams for embedded systems. The impact metric indicate that degree of ease to change software according to changes of requirements and designs, and based on complexity metric of UML class and state machine diagrams. We also demonstrate the proposed impact measure to conduct some experiment to develop a sample project. The evaluation indicates that the proposed metric have a strong correlation with degree of ease to change target project.

Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) is becoming one of the foremost treatment options for uterine fibroids and breast cancer. However, for an abdominal organ such as the liver, a target tracking technique to "lock on" to the focal area is required because the organ moves and deforms with respiratory motion. This technique, which is based on the relative displacement of the portal vein using sagittal MR images, is effective for translational motion and deformation because blood flow is visualized as high intensity in MR images using TrueFISP. The aim of this study was to develop a three-dimensional target tracking technique based on the results of an analysis of three-dimensional dynamic information about the portal vein structure. It is difficult to acquire multi-slice images quickly using MR. Therefore, in this study, we propose a method to reconstruct a three-dimensional dynamic model of the liver using multi-slice MR images acquired during slow breathing. Forty-two frames of the image set were acquired during slow breathing. The images were arranged in breathing phase order based on the motion of the diaphragm. Interpolated images were enhanced using a morphology technique and were inserted between the discontinuous frames. Finally, the images were interpolated in isotropic voxels in an out-plane direction. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of three-dimensional tracking based on a portal vein tree structure. © 2015, Japan Soc. of Med. Electronics and Biol. engineering. In this paper, a multi-agent simulation model of urban traffic behavior using Origin-Destination data and an example of bus line optimization as an application of the model are showed. In the model, inhabitants' behaviors of travel are expressed by decision of inhabitant agents. They select one of means of mobility and route by optimizing their evaluation functions. There are too many search candidates in their decisions to calculate in practical time, thus some assumptions and mathematical optimization techniques are applied to reduce calculation time. Route search algorithms of agents are divided into two parts of common and individual. The result of the common part is jointly used by all agents, thus the algorithm of the common part is executed only once. On the other hand, the individual part is built as parallelizable *** potential of the proposed model is demonstrated by simulation examples of two scenarios in which a part of traffic networks differ each other. Furthermore, it is showed that an application example in which route of community buses in Imizu-city is improved using the proposed model.
