In recent years, many researchers try to observe the state of the global environment from marine information. In this paper, we introduce the recording system of underwater environment. By using this system, we want to observe the change of global environment from the coral bleaching. Especially, we propose the generation method of marine tag in order to measure the 3D position of robot which is used in the sea for measure state of coral bleaching. Marine tag means the feature point of underwater image.

The design of nonlinear servo system using fuzzy method

This paper presents the design of nonlinear servo system using fuzzy method. The idea behind this control method is to divide the operating region of nonlinear system into collection of local linear servo control system and apply fuzzy method for calculation the control input. The control input of each local linear servo system is calculated using Davison-Smith method and Hikita pole assignment method. We can prove that the all of states of the fuzzy servo system are bounded and output errors converge to zero using Lyapunov method. The simulations are done to nonlinear mass-spring-damper system to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2013 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Some tools for calculating CO2 emissions have been developed for housing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). However, these present tools are hard to assess a direct impact of resident such as health risk and amenity. It is considered that the tool that can assess the direct impact of residents can be helpful in checking up the cost-effectiveness on a personal level during the housing design. In this study, we propose a new LCA tool that is based on the Life-cycle Impact assessment Method using by Endpoint modeling (LIME) developed by The National Institute of Advanced Industrial science and Technology (AIST) and introduce a part of the LCA tool experimentally. This proposed LCA tool considers the method of existing earthquake risk management and human health risk assessment such as disability-adjusted life years (DALY) by WHO. Also, it is embedded in a function to estimate by buildup approach. The final cost is obtained by integrating the required cost (internal cost) with damage to environment and human health (external cost). Additionally, the item that adds to inventory, impact category and category endpoint for calculation of external cost at each stage can be selected. Since the idea of this LCA tool can be helpful for architect and client to determine the direction of housing design, we discuss the convenience of LCA tool in this paper.

A layered composite with P2 and O3 integration is proposed toward a sodium‐ion battery with high energy density and long cycle life. The integration of P2 and O3 structures in this layered oxide is clearly characterized by XRD refinement, SAED and HAADF and ABF‐STEM at atomic resolution. The biphase synergy in this layered P2+O3 composite is well established during the electrochemical reaction. This layered composite can deliver a high reversible capacity with the largest energy density of 640 mAh g −1 , and it also presents good capacity retention over 150 times of sodium extraction and insertion.

Model-driven development (MDD) can help verify the accuracy of models and generate source codes, which allows a programmer to minimize the development time required to evaluate the software so that he or she can focus on the modeling process. Thus, modeling should be taught with MDD because it allows students to acquire modeling skills in a short period of time. We conducted a course to teach UML modeling to two groups. The first group used the MDD tool, while the second did not. We elucidate the advantages of each case with and without the use of the MDD tool. Based on our results, we propose the effective use of MDD tools in UML modeling education.

Japanese cities always have risks of large-scale earthquakes. Thus, it is very important to establish crisis management systems against large-scale disasters such as big earthquakes, and tsunamis to secure evacuation centers for evacuees. In this respect, it is extremely important to provide sufficient evacuation centers and to appropriately partition the whole region into small areas, such that a unique evacuation center is located in each area and the people living in the area can easily evacuate to the center. However, it is hard to find an optimal region partitioning, due to the uncertainty, such as a fire or collapsed buildings. In this research, we propose a method to enumerate all partitioning patterns using Zero-suppressed Binary Decision Diagram (ZDD) that satisfy several conditions. We apply the proposed method to Kamigyo Ward of Kyoto City, Japan. © 2013 IET.

Knuth's Simpath algorithm is an efficient algorithm enumerating all paths between two locations. This paper presents three approaches to parallelizing frontier-based search in Simpath in shared-memory environments: node-based, range-based and edge-based approaches. Our results on solving grid graphs show that the lock-free edge-based approach performs best and achieves seven-fold speedup with 32 CPU cores, while the others suffer from severe synchronization overhead due to locks, resulting in performance saturation with more than 12 cores. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

In this paper, a technique for visualizing the changing rank and value of events simultaneously with time, as well as a trend analysis tool that uses the resulting visualization, are proposed. This technique facilitates analysts' understanding of the trends of both the entire data set and each event. It also uses colors, which are estimated automatically from the events' text labels, to represent the category to which events belong. Using the tool, the authors analyzed trends of topic data extracted from Twitter as use case, and could observe the trends and overview of Twitter. In addition, using the tool it is possible to present the different ways in which people who use different media think, using media-generated data. © 2013 IEEE.

This work was performed to indicate the usefulness of magnetic resonance (MR) 4-dimentional phase contrast (4D-PC) technique in assessing CerebroSpinal Fluid (CSF) motion in comparison with the time-Spatial Labeling Inversion Pulse (Time-SLIP) technique. 4D-velocity vector, their curl, and, pressure gradient were evaluated in both flow phantom, and normal volunteers and a patient with hydrocepharus. The velocity and pressure gradient fields obtained by the 4D-PC technique were useful to visualize the CSF dynamics under the presence of a membrane-like structure, unlike the Time-SLIP in which the spin travel was visualized. Quantitative property was another advantage of the 4D-PC. The curl and the pressure gradient fields obtained with actual units should help clinicians to classify the conditions of the patients with CSF disorders.

To investigate the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes (T2D) to high resolution, the GoT2D and T2D-GENES consortia catalogued variation from whole-genome sequencing of 2,657 European individuals and exome sequencing of 12,940 individuals of multiple ancestries. Over 27M SNPs, indels, and structural variants were identified, including 99% of low-frequency (minor allele frequency [MAF] 0.1-5%) non-coding variants in the whole-genome sequenced individuals and 99.7% of low-frequency coding variants in the whole-exome sequenced individuals. Each variant was tested for association with T2D in the sequenced individuals, and, to increase power, most were tested in larger numbers of individuals (>80% of low-frequency coding variants in ~82 K Europeans via the exome chip, and ~90% of low-frequency non-coding variants in ~44 K Europeans via genotype imputation). The variants, genotypes, and association statistics from these analyses provide the largest reference to date of human genetic information relevant to T2D, for use in activities such as T2D-focused genotype imputation, functional characterization of variants or genes, and other novel analyses to detect associations between sequence variation and T2D.
