At present, many open source softwares are developed in all parts of the world, e.g., Firefox, Apache HTTP server, Linux, Android, and so on. Open source software is now attracting attention as the next-generation software development paradigm because of the cost reduction, quick delivery, and work saving. We focus on a cloud computing environment by using open source softwares such as OpenStack and Eucalyptus because of the unification management of data and low cost. A cloud computing is attracting attention as a network service to share the computing resources, i.e., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services. We propose jump diffusion models based on stochastic differential equations in order to consider the interesting aspect of the provisioning process. Moreover, we formulate a total expected software cost based on the proposed jump diffusion model for the environment of cloud computing. Then, we discuss the determination of optimum software maintenance times minimizing the total expected software cost.

The current software development environment has been changing into new development paradigms such as concurrent distributed development environment and the so-called open source project by using network computing technologies. Especially, open source software systems which serve as key components of critical infrastructures in our society are still ever-expanding now. At present, many open source softwares are developed in all parts of the world, e.g., Firefox, Apache HTTP server, Linux, Android, and so on. Open source software is now attracting attention as the next-generation software development paradigm because of the cost reduction, quick delivery, and work saving. We focus on open source software developed under the open source project. In case of considering the effect of the human factors on an entire system in the development of a method of reliability assessment for open source project, it is necessary to grasp the deeply-intertwined factors, such as size of each component, level of detected faults, and skill of fault reporters which are reported and recorded in the bugtracking system. In order to consider the effect of each human factor on the reliability of an entire system under such open source software, we propose a new approach to software reliability assessment by using analysis of variance. Also, we analyze actual software fault-count data to show numerical examples of software reliability assessment for the open source software. Moreover, this paper shows that the proposed method of reliability analysis can assist quality improvement for the open source software project.

It is well known that a scorched odor is emitted from combustible materials undergoing oxidative pyrolysis and/or combustion reactions. In the present study, 15 kinds of domestic woods were selected consisting of six kinds of broad-leaved trees, eight kinds of conifer trees, and one kind of bamboo, and those were used as test samples with the pure cellulose as the reference. TG-DTA system was employed as the device that heats the sample up under the specific conditions. The sample was heated under the air (G3) condition from ambient temperature to 500°C at the rate of2K/min to clarify therelation between the change in quality of odors and the temperature during oxidative pyrolysis. The generated gas was collected in a sampling bag which was attached to the exhaust port of a TG-DTA system, and thequality of odor was measured using electronic noses. The weight of the wood materials decreased approximately 95% in the range of approximately 200 °C to 500 °C due to thermal and oxidative decomposition. The ratios of similarity indices ((aldehyde)/(ammonia) and (aldehyde)/(hydrogen sulfide)) showed rapid increase during the progression of combustion and/or oxidative thermal decomposition, and which would be the important signals for the fire detection system. This property did not take the influence of a water content and kind of woods.
