Quantum feature maps are a key component of quantum machine learning, encoding classical data into quantum states to exploit the expressive power of high-dimensional Hilbert spaces. Despite their theoretical promise, designing quantum feature maps that offer practical advantages over classical methods remains an open challenge. In this work, we propose an agentic system that autonomously generates, evaluates, and refines quantum feature maps using large language models. The system consists of five component: Generation, Storage, Validation, Evaluation, and Review. Using these components, it iteratively improves quantum feature maps. Experiments on the MNIST dataset show that it can successfully discover and refine feature maps without human intervention. The best feature map generated outperforms existing quantum baselines and achieves competitive accuracy compared to classical kernels across MNIST, Fashion-MNIST, and CIFAR-10. Our approach provides a framework for exploring dataset-adaptive quantum features and highlights the potential of LLM-driven automation in quantum algorithm design. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. Wave energy presents an excellent opportunity to add much-needed diversification to the global renewable energy portfolio. However, a competitive levelised cost of electricity for wave energy conversion devices is yet to be proven. Here, we optimise the geometry of a wave energy device to maximise power while also minimising the power take-off reaction moments. Using theory, numerical modelling and optimisation techniques, we show that by including minimisation of reaction moments in the optimisation, instead of only maximisation of power, it is possible to substantially lower the design loads while maintaining high efficiency. Using the underlying physics of how geometry affects the wave-structure interaction, we explain the resulting performance of these new designs for wave energy converters. We examine the resulting geometries for practicality, including performance over a wide range of sea states, motion requirements, and performance in a real sea-state off the coast of Scotland, United Kingdom. Comparing against the single shape which extracts the theoretical maximum power, the optimal shapes found in our study extract almost as much power (12% less) with substantially less moment (reduced by up to 35%), revealing a promising direction for wave energy development.

Deep learning (DL) has significantly advanced various industries, including semiconductors, by providing sophisticated methods for analyzing emerging device data. Transfer learning (TL), a prominent DL topology, leverages knowledge from a pre-trained model to improve the performance of a specific target task. This study aims to apply TL to predict the impact of work function fluctuation (WKF) on the variability of threshold voltage (σVTH) in gate-all-around silicon nanosheet field-effect transistors (GAA Si NS FETs). We used TL to transfer knowledge from models trained on 1-channel (1ch) GAA Si NS FETs to more complex 4-channel (4ch) counterparts. The prediction accuracy is evaluated by using the mean square error(MSE), root mean square error (RMSE), and the mean absolute error(MAE) metrics. Our TL approach achieved an error rate of less than 1%, demonstrating high accuracy in predicting WKF effects on σ VTH of 4ch GAA Si NS FETs using only 500 samples. This study presents a pioneering application of TL using a one-dimensional (1D) convolutional neural network (CNN) long short-term memory (LSTM) topology in semiconductor device technology. The results effectively address the challenge of predicting σ VTH variations in advanced GAA Si NS FETs because of WKF, which eliminates the need for extensive semiconductor device simulations. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

The quantum-classical hybrid Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE) algorithm is recognized to be the most suitable approach to obtain ground state energies of quantum many-body systems in the noisy intermediate scale quantum era. In this work, we extend the VQE algorithm to the relativistic regime and carry out quantum simulations to obtain ground state energies as well as molecular permanent electric dipole moments of single-valence diatomic molecules, beginning with the light BeH molecule and all the way to the heavy radioactive RaH molecule. We study the correlation trends in these systems as well as assess the precision in our results within our active space of 12 qubits. © 2022, CC BY.

Nesting-structured nuclear norm minimization for spatially correlated matrix variate

Integrating the structure prior in modeling has achieved considerable attention in pattern recognition and computer vision. Most current state-of-the-art methods (such as low rank representation and structured sparsity) search for a structured metric to fit the structure of the estimated variate, which either bear high time complexity (e.g., compute singular value decomposition for large-scale matrices), or cannot effectively exploit structure information of a matrix variate. In this work, we introduce a nesting-structured nuclear norm to characterize the matrix variate with structure prior and provide a unified framework for solving nesting-structured nuclear norm minimization (NSNM) problem by resorting to an improved sub-gradient method. This not only takes local and global structures of the matrix variate into joint consideration, but also enjoys the lower time complexity than traditional nuclear norm minimization. The revealed statistical meaning explains the rationality of the proposed method. Moreover, we apply NSNM to matrix regression and completion problems, respectively. The extensive experiments for face recognition and large-scale matrix completion clearly demonstrate the superiority of NSNM over some existing methods. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

With the widespread usage of smartphones, users not just using their smartphone for calls and messaging only, but they are using it for a variety of purposes such as banking transactions, e-mailing, chatting, online shopping, video conferencing, health monitoring, and many more. Most of these activities store personal and sensitive data of the user on the device, reaching this confidential information by unauthorized person may cause huge losses and bad consequences. Therefore, securing the smartphone's accessibility from unauthorized people became an extremely essential. With the advanced development in the area of sensor-based smartphone authentication methods, different methods were developed to be easily used by users through specific criteria. However, many aspects haven't been discovered yet in the area of sensor-based smartphone authentication methods. On the basis of that, this study aims to review the area of sensor-based smartphone authentication methods systematically to provide a comprehensive understanding of this new area and to discuss the current challenges and issues. To conduct this systematic review, four scientific digital databases were utilized;scienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, Web of science, and Scopus. The total number of studies found was n = 256 articles, only n = 46 articles were included based on our inclusion criteria. To provide a comprehensive understanding of the included studies, taxonomy was drawn. Also, this study provides a discussion on the current motivations, challenges and issues, and recommendations in sensor-based smartphone authentication methods. This review enlightens, encourage, and direct researchers to develop authentication solutions and reduce the current gaps in this area. © 2024 The Authors

Simulating open quantum systems is an essential technique for understanding complex physical phenomena and advancing quantum technologies. Some quantum algorithms for simulating Lindblad dynamics achieve logarithmically short circuit depth in terms of accuracy Ε by coherently encoding all possible jump processes with a large ancilla consumption. Minimizing the space complexity while achieving such a logarithmic depth remains an important challenge. In this work, we present a quantum algorithm for simulating general Lindblad dynamics with multiple jump operators aimed at an observable estimation, that achieves both a logarithmically short circuit depth and a minimum ancilla size. Toward simulating an exponentially accurate Taylor expansion of the Lindblad propagator to ensure the circuit depth of O(log(1/Ε)), we develop a novel random circuit compilation method that leverages dissipative processes with only a single jump operator;importantly, the proposed method requires the minimal-size, 4 + ⌈log M⌉, ancilla qubits where each single jump operator has at most M Pauli strings. Furthermore, the gate complexity depends on neither the number of terms in Hamiltonian nor the number of jump operators, owing to the random compilation. This work represents a significant step towards making open quantum system simulations more feasible on early fault-tolerant quantum computing devices. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. In aid of delivering quality Information Technology Education in the Philippines and to upscale the quality of ITE in the country, organizations, and other universities have participated in extra-curricular and academic activities. The study aimed at determining the associated relationships among six hundred competitors and mentors in a skills competition using the APRIORI Algorithm. The CRISP-DM Model and Python programming language were utilized in the study. Accordingly, there were thirteen (13) predicted rules that will allow competing institutions to carefully study before joining the IT Skills Olympics Competition, as such, the rules set can guide each competing school to design a program for their competing teams and select category of the competition to compete in the future. The researchers recommend further empirical analysis using the dataset by employing other machine learning techniques and algorithms.

Cryptography hardware design is a key challenge towards the confidentiality advance in the prominent field of the internet of things (IoT). The rise of IoT embedded devices boosts the demand for power- and area- efficient solutions for cryptography hardware. The higher the robustness of the cryptography algorithm is, the higher are the hardware complexity, the circuit area, and energy consumption. Asymmetric algorithms are a particular class widely employed in ultra-secure cryptosystems. The high time-hardness to break the private-key in asymmetric algorithms is a result of its high mathematical complexity. RSA is an asymmetric algorithm that performs successive modular multiplications to encrypt and de-encrypt the information. Therefore, arithmetic operators are the most significant part regarding circuit area and power dissipation. This work evaluates a design space exploration for power- and area-efficient hardware VLSI design in the modular Montgomery multiplier employed in the RSA algorithm.

Quantum reservoir computing (QRC) is a highly promising computational paradigm that leverages quantum systems as a computational resource for nonlinear information processing. While its application to time-series analysis is eagerly anticipated, prevailing approaches suffer from the collapse of the quantum state upon measurement, resulting in the erasure of temporal input memories. Neither repeated initializations nor weak measurements offer a fundamental solution, as the former escalates the time complexity while the latter restricts the information extraction from the Hilbert space. To address this issue, we propose the feedback-driven QRC framework. This methodology employs projective measurements on all qubits for unrestricted access to the quantum state, with the measurement outcomes subsequently fed back into the reservoir to restore the memory of prior inputs. We demonstrate that our QRC successfully acquires the fading-memory property through the feedback connections, a critical element in time-series processing. Notably, analysis of measurement trajectories reveal three distinct phases depending on the feedback strength, with the memory performance maximized at the edge of chaos. We also evaluate the predictive capabilities of our QRC, demonstrating its suitability for forecasting signals originating from quantum spin systems. © 2024, CC BY.
