Adoption of renewable energy sources and sustainable performance in palestinian industrial and commercial sectors with governmental role as a moderator: An explanatory approach

Renewable energy has attained enormous attention in recent years due to the exhaustion of many energy resources, and the pollution caused by fossil fuels. However, the adoption of renewable energy sources (RESs) is a complicated process influenced by multifarious factors. This study aims to investigate factors influencing the adoption of RESs by the Palestinian industrial and commercial sectors and their effect of this adoption on sustainable performance, besides examining if the government plays a role in moderating the relationship between the adoption of RESs and such sustainable performance. To this end, a quantitative method was used to collect data through questionnaires from 100 top managers in the Palestinian commercial and industrial sectors. The data analysis was conducted using the Smart PLS software to test the formulated hypotheses. The findings support the positive relationship between the adoption of RESs and sustainable performance. There is also a positive relationship between the adoption of RESs and the government's role. However, the relationship between the government's role and sustainable performance is not established, but the government's role is found to be a moderator between adopting RESs and sustainable performance. © 2023 The Authors

Recognizing the tremendous improvements that the integration of generative AI can bring to intelligent transportation systems, this article explores the integration of generative AI technologies in vehicular networks, focusing on their potential applications and challenges. Generative AI, with its capabilities of generating realistic data and facilitating advanced decision-making processes, enhances various applications when combined with vehicular networks, such as navigation optimization, traffic prediction, data generation, and evaluation. Despite these promising applications, the integration of generative AI with vehicular networks faces several challenges, such as real-time data processing and decision-making, adapting to dynamic and unpredictable environments, as well as privacy and security concerns. To address these challenges, we propose a multi-modality semantic-aware framework to enhance the service quality of generative AI. By leveraging multi-modal and semantic communication technologies, the framework enables the use of text and image data for creating multi-modal content, providing more reliable guidance to receiving vehicles and ultimately improving system usability and efficiency. To further improve the reliability and efficiency of information transmission and reconstruction within the framework, taking generative AI-enabled vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) as a case study, a deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based approach is proposed for resource allocation. Finally, we discuss potential research directions and anticipated advancements in the field of generative AI-enabled vehicular networks. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The increasing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere has substantial impacts on the global temperature. For energy sustainability and minimization of the effects of global warming, an approach to understand CO2 capturing and a carbon neutral culture is extremely essential in the present circumstances. The CO2 emission from vehicles and industries can be minimized using energy cost-effective techniques and can be converted more selectively into reusable fuels via thermochemical, electrochemical, photochemical, photocatalytic, electrocatalytic, biological and inorganic carbonate-based approaches. In this review article, we have discussed the effects of increased global temperature on human beings, economy and climate change. Further, we have discussed the photocatalytic conversion of CO2 (PC-CO2) into gaseous and liquid fuels under solar light driven photocatalysis. The adsorption and activation of CO2, its conversion into various intermediates, their stability and selectivity of the final products have been elaborated comprehensively. The conversion mechanisms of CO2 into CO, CH4, alcohol, aldehyde and carboxylic acid have been discussed in detail. The role of defects and exposed facets of photocatalysts, effect of metal and non-metal dopants, and the additive role of co-catalyst on the mechanisms and selectivity of the conversion products have been discussed comprehensively. Finally, future perspective is discussed to highlight the research gap in the PC-CO2. We hope that this article will help to understand the mechanisms of PC-CO2 and will direct researchers to add their role in the reduction of CO2 to control global warming and make life easier on earth in the coming years. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

The ethanol manufacturing plant located in Phanomsarakham district, Chachoengsao province east of Thailand. The plant requires to improve the process by replacing a new boiler with capacity for generating 30 tons per hour of saturated steam. The boiler selection process is determining the steam required for the process, then determine the fuels available and their usability after that compare different types of boiler and finish the process with boiler purchasing. There are four available fuels in the area where the case study plant located are bituminous coal, wood, fuel oil C, and LPG. Consider by compared the heating value, fuel required to consume by the boiler and reference of each. The most possibility of fuel for the case study plant is bituminous coal. © 2019 IEEE.

This study delves into the evaluation of the Komodo dragons Adaptive Conservation program (KACP) at Komodo National Park in Indonesia through Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). It aims to understand how the programs components align with community priorities and assess its effectiveness. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, this research analyzes community perceptions of KACP's critical elements, spanning eco-tourism initiatives to environmental protection strategies. The community is categorized into local advocates, eco-tourism enthusiasts, and eco-community harmonizers, identifying how each group perceives and interacts with various facets of KACP. The findings reveal significant differences in perceptions of importance and performance among these groups, providing insights into areas of strength and those needing improvement. Additionally, the study includes an analysis of demographic influences on these perceptions through Logit and Probit models, aiming to understand the impacts across different community segments. The results highlight the necessity for an adaptive and responsive design in conservation efforts, considering community expectations and ecological impacts. Despite offering comprehensive insights, the study acknowledges limitations in the demographic scope and suggests future research directions, such as longitudinal studies and an expanded analysis of variables. These findings offer critical guidance for policymakers and conservation practitioners to enhance conservation programs’ effectiveness and community alignment, emphasizing the need to adapt to the challenges and changes introduced by KACP. © 2024 Elsevier GmbH

Standard notions of an “Earthlike” planet rely solely on physical and material properties, like planetary mass, radius, and surface temperature. Here, we introduce a novel, relational perspective on what defines “Earthlikeness.” In our process-based framework, rocky planets are local pockets of free energy that have the potential to drive the emergence of dynamically persistent systems that coevolve with one another. Examples of dynamically persistent planetary phenomena include magnetic dynamos, mantle convection, tectonic regimes, deep volatile cycles, global climate feedbacks, biogeochemical cycles, and the biosphere. When two or more processes couple to one another such that they gain causal efficacy over one another's persistence, some degree of planetary-scale homeostasis may emerge. In astrobiology, Earthlike exoplanets are often considered to be priority targets for the search for life elsewhere. We suggest that a process-based framework for Earthlikeness has the potential to widen our search space and inspire novel planetary-scale biosignatures, or “Gaiasignatures,” that may be essential for detecting exoplanetary biospheres. Additionally, a process-based view of life can influence the development of agnostic biosignatures at all scales. In contrast to the dominant scientific perspective, which has tended to engender a materialistic worldview, relational ontologies may contribute to our scientific understanding of Earth as a network of dynamically persistent systems, humanity as an integral part of nature, and the search for life in the universe. Upcycling waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles has attracted intensive research interests. This simultaneously alleviates plastic pollution and achieves a waste-to-resource strategy. Waste PET water bottles were used to fabricate value-added activated carbon (AC) electrodes for capacitive deionization (CDI). The KOH activation temperature (greater than 700 °C) prominently affected the physi-chemical properties and desalination performance of PET-derived activated carbons (PET-AC). Profiting from a large Brunauer-Emmet-Teller specific surface area (1448 m g) with a good mesoporous structure (the ratio of the mesopore volume to the total pore volume was 41.3%), PET-AC-1000 (activated at 1000 °C) possessed a huge specific capacitance of 108 F g for capacitive ion storage. Moreover, when utilized as the electrode material in single-pass CDI, PET-AC-1000 exhibited a maximum electrosorption capacity of 10.82 ± 0.11 mg g and a low level of energy consumption (0.07 kWh mol), associated with good electrochemical charging-discharging cyclic stability. The results provide a promising facile approach to tackle the challenge of plastic pollution and promote the advancement of electrode materials for economic affordable and energy-efficient electrochemical desalination process, which meets the United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Microalgae is one of the main substances used in the biomass production process in order to produce environmentally-friendly biofuels. Microalgae biomass production process influenced by several of environmental factors, specifically, the use of catalysts which play an important role in order to produce a significant yield of microalgae biomass. The use of catalyst should obey the rules of green chemistry and also minimalizing the negative impact to the environment. This paper aims to compare the effectiveness of the use of three types of catalysts: biocatalysts (enzymes), homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. These three types catalyst then used as additive components in the transesterification process to produce microalgae biomass. This study was conducted by collecting data related to the yield of biomass contained in several scientific journals through the Science Direct website using the systematic literature review method. The data processing involves a semi meta-analysis method using the one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test, followed by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test using Fisher’s method.
