This paper presents the rational approximation of a three-phase photovoltaic (PV) system via the time-domain vector fitting (TD-VF) and nonlinear vector fitting (NL-VF) techniques. A significant feature of both methods is that the transfer function is unknown, and input/output variables are sufficient data for the transfer function's dynamics characterization. The accuracy and robustness of both techniques are compared via an example. It is shown that NL-VF is an effective alternative to TD-VF for rationally identifying a system with nonlinear components, such as a PV generator. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, a method for statistical analysis is developed to estimate patterns of behavior and their amplification from the observed system response to random variations. Spectral proper orthogonal decomposition (SPOD) is utilized to examine gains and phase relationships between signals from simulated data. Based on frequency domain and Fourier analysis, SPOD is employed to decompose forced oscillations into a set of space-time orthogonal modes. By such an approach, the ability of Fourier analysis to study stochastically forced oscillations in complex power system models is improved. Analytical criteria for describing the energy relationships in the observed oscillations are derived, and a physical interpretation of the stochastic modes is suggested. The methodology is demonstrated using simulated random oscillations of a realistic test power system. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, a new framework based on non-modal stability theory to study the forced system response to harmonic excitation. Using this approach, the amplification of forced oscillation can be studied as a function of system location and excitation frequency. As a by-product, the technique enables comparing the output and the input sizes and is not limited to modal frequencies. In addition, the forcing and response modes give the dominant behavior of the forced oscillations. Applications to a two-area, four-machine test system are used to assess the applicability of the proposed framework. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper is analyzed the effect of winding type on the performance of three-phase radial-flux permanent magnet synchronous generators for applications in wind turbines. The winding types considered for designing these generators are the concentric, integer and distributed windings. Moreover, a generator virtual prototype is obtained from each winding in software CAD. Then, each virtual prototype is simulated through 2D and 3D finite element analysis of each winding type to test performance variables such as the copper mass, losses, the power quality and, cogging and ripple torques. Finally, the performance results for these generator designs are shown in a comparative table and also, the main winding features are described for the purpose of being used in wind turbines. © 2024 IEEE.

Data fusion of multitype data is a fundamental problem in power system monitoring. This paper proposes a method for graph spectral clustering and visualization based on the fusion of similarity networks. The adopted approach enables the integration or fusion of multiple types of measurements, leading to the identification of a reduced-order model (a coarse-grained representation) and the variables that are influential in system dynamics.A systematic dynamic framework for data fusion is developed based on diffusion geometry and the fusion of similarity networks. This approach utilizes the statistical characteristics of Markov processes to construct a similarity network or graph for each data type or information. This allows for capturing the global data structure by establishing a Markov chain that describes transition probabilities between different sensor time series. Integrating this approach with the concept of graph community aids in identifying important buses and transmission branches for *** considerations concerning the application of spectral analysis techniques and improvements upon previous work are deliberated. Additionally, promising methodologies for investigating the multimodal attributes of data are highlighted to address these challenges robustly. Simulation studies conducted on a 14-machine, 58-bus test system serve to illustrate the efficacy of diffusion-based similarity network fusion techniques. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The demand for renewable energy solutions has become a global trend due to the current climate change scenario and the increased demand for electricity. Hence, in several countries, the share of renewable sources in the electric matrix has grown with the insertion of new energy sources, such as offshore wind. Brazil presents optimal conditions for the construction of offshore wind farms. The Brazilian 10-year Energy Expansion Plan 2029, in addition to placing this source as an expansion for the coming years, intensely focuses on hydrogen. For this reason, this study aims to assist planners and agents interested in running new construction projects of offshore wind farms with green hydrogen production. Such a study case seeks better use of the available wind resources in the high energy consumption regions of Brazil's South and Southeast, assessing the wind resource considering technical, environmental, social, and economic restrictions to identify the best locations for installing wind farms. As such, it processes the data within a geographic information system, and then a fuzzy logic-based model is used for the joint evaluation of constraints. Results show that Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo are the most favorable places. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to avoid the problems of low accuracy of wheel hub recognition and classification and excessive dependence on template image quality in the process of automatic production of the automobile wheel hub, a vehicle wheel hub recognition method based on Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) is proposed. Firstly, the wheel hub images under three different lighting conditions are collected, and the wheel hub images are processed in grayscale;Secondly, the positive and negative samples are made, and hog features are extracted, respectively;Finally, the extracted hog features are trained by SVM classifier, and the trained target classifier is used to recognize the wheel hub photos under three different lighting conditions. The experimental results show that this method has higher recognition accuracy than the traditional template matching method under different lighting conditions. © 2022 IEEE.
