A comprehensive survey of visible infrared person re-identification from an application perspective

Person re-identification (ReID) is a significant issue in computer vision, aiming to match the same pedestrian across various cameras. Recent research on this issue has successfully reached a satisfactory performance level in the daytime scenario. However, the performance of ReID in low illumination scenarios suffers a dramatic degradation due to the insufficient personal information captured by visible cameras in low or no light scenarios. To address this challenge, the adoption of novel camera technologies for more effective pedestrian data is imperative. Owing to the constraints of distance and usage scenarios in deploying depth cameras, practical infrared cameras are frequently utilized, spurring research in visible infrared person re-identification (VI-ReID). Significant progress has been made in the field of VI-ReID in recent years, but only a few reviews have categorized this problem based on methodology. This article offers a novel perspective by classifying VI-ReID according to application scenarios. Following our categorization scheme, the main advancements in deep learning for VI-ReID over the past five years have been grouped into three categories as follows: retrieval of infrared images using visible images (V→IR), retrieval of visible images using infrared images (IR→V), and joint retrieval of infrared and visible images (V→IR and IR→V). Next, this survey outlines the available datasets and evaluation metrics. After that, we categorize diverse methodologies under the proposed classification and assess their performance metrics across common datasets. Finally, we present two prospective avenues for future research in this domain, informed by the current state of advancement. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The systolic array (SA) architecture is widely used in accelerator/AI chip design due to its excellent matrix multiplication acceleration effect. However, the mismatch between the traditional sparse matrix compression format and the SA architecture results in poor SA performance in computing sparse matrices. To solve the problem, we propose a method for co-designing the sparse compression format and SA architecture. This work proposes the Vector Group Compressed Coordinate (VGCC) data stream compression format and designs a sparse SA architecture based on hardware encoding and decoding. VGCC can handle data streams of any size without increasing the index bit width. The VGCC compression size is significantly smaller than general sparse compression formats such as COO/CSR. In a sparse matrix with a sparsity of 90%, it saves 67.13% of storage space compared to the state-of-the-art ECOO data stream compression format and achieves an average acceleration of 1.54 times. We also propose a VGCC-friendly SA architecture. Our SA architecture engine reduces logic consumption by 51.6% compared to Sparse TPU while achieving a 3.23x speedup. To mitigate the issue of high no-load rates in systolic arrays, we introduce a Data Transmission Priority (DTP) data matching algorithm. With sparsity levels ranging from 50% to 90%, the algorithm’s calculation speed is enhanced by 1.124x to 1.991x. We implemented a sparse DNN accelerator on an FPGA Zynq UltraScale+MPSoC ZCU102, utilizing the VGCC compression format proposed in this study for compressing input data. When compared to the S2 Engine, the accelerator achieved a 3.37x speed improvement in matrix multiplication with 75% sparsity, significantly enhancing the speed of sparse matrix multiplication. Performance Design of High-Temperature Chloride Salts as Thermal Energy Storage Material

The chloride salts have great potential used as high-temperature thermal energy storage(TES) medium for the concentrated solar power *** this study,LiCl,KCl and CaCl_(2) were selected as energy storage materials in order to further broaden the working temperature of ternary chloride salt and improve its energy storage *** new high-temperature energy storage ternary chloride composed of LiCl,KCl,and CaCl_(2) was developed based on the phase diagram generated by *** components of LiCl-KCl-CaCl_(2) with the mass ratio of 37.85%-53.38%-8.77%,30.90%-13.82%-55.28% and 1.78%-18.61%-79.61% were developed,of which the corresponding melting temperature(T_(m)) 340.93,433.57 and 626.85℃,respectively,was obtained *** that T_(m) of the third group of salts was too high,only the first two groups of salts were *** test showed that the actual melting point was only 0.46% and 1.64% different from the melting point predicted by *** thermal properties of the two ternary chloride salts were also *** solid and liquid-specific heat of ternary salts was determined by DSC using sapphire as the standard *** vapor pressure and decomposition temperature of ternary chloride salts were *** results showed that the vapor pressure of salt 1 was almost constant below 650℃ by ***,the TG results showed that the upper working temperature of salt 1 was 650℃ under the air *** addition,the ternary chloride salts after short-term cycling still exhibited excellent thermal properties,which revealed that these good thermal properties make them have broad application prospects in high-temperature thermal energy storage systems.

Cooperative coevolution (CC) algorithms, based on the divide-and-conquer strategy, have emerged as the predominant approach to solving large-scale global optimization (LSGO) problems. The efficiency and accuracy of the grouping stage significantly impact the performance of the optimization process. While the general separability grouping (GSG) method has overcome the limitation of previous differential grouping (DG) methods by enabling the decomposition of nonadditively separable functions, it suffers from high computational complexity. To address this challenge, this article proposes a composite separability grouping (CSG) method, seamlessly integrating DG and GSG into a problem decomposition framework to utilize the strengths of both approaches. CSG introduces a step-by-step decomposition framework that accurately decomposes various problem types using fewer computational resources. By sequentially identifying additively, multiplicatively and generally separable variables, CSG progressively groups nonseparable variables by recursively considering the interactions between each nonseparable variable and the formed nonseparable groups. Furthermore, to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of CSG, we introduce two innovative methods: a multiplicatively separable variable detection method and a nonseparable variable grouping method. These two methods are designed to effectively detect multiplicatively separable variables and efficiently group nonseparable variables, respectively. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that CSG achieves more accurate variable grouping with lower computational complexity compared to GSG and state-of-the-art DG-series designs. © 2024 IEEE.

Scalable Transactional Stream Processing on Multicore Processors

Transactional stream processing engines (TSPEs) are central to modern stream applications handling shared mutable states. However, their full potential, particularly in adaptive scheduling, remains largely unexplored. We present MorphStream, a TSPE designed to optimize parallelism and performance for transactional stream processing on multicores. Through a unique three-stage execution paradigm (i.e., planning, scheduling, and execution), MorphStream enables adaptive scheduling under varying workload characteristics. Building on this foundation, MorphStream is further enhanced with support for non-deterministic state access, employing a stateful task precedence graph to handle undefined read/write sets at runtime while guaranteeing transaction semantics. Additionally, MorphStream incorporates a generalized framework for managing window-based operations, enabling efficient tracking and maintenance of overlapping windows using multi-versioned state management. These extensions enhance the system's ability to process dynamic and irregular workloads. Experimental results demonstrate up to 3.4 times higher throughput and 69.1% lower latency compared to state-of-the-art TSPEs, validating its scalability and adaptability in real-world streaming scenarios. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

Benign brain tumors (BT) are the least dangerous type and arise from brain cells or cells surrounding the brain. Benign tumors grow slowly and do not spread to other body parts. Benign brain tumors have distinct borders. They put the normal brain under stress and interfere with physical and mental function. It is also referred to as a non-cancerous BT. The acquisition of magnetic resonance images introduces noise, and removing this noise is complex. BT has tentacles and diffuse structures, making precise segmentation difficult. Another critical task is to select and extract the best features and the appropriate number of training and test samples to improve the classification. Deep learning (DL) models have received much attention because feature learning happens automatically. However, it necessitates a substantial amount of computing power and memory. As a result, lightweight models with high accuracy and fast computation times were developed. This paper is present on ML and DL model for analysis of BT detection and calculated accuracy. The ML classification i.e. K-NN achieves 78.74% accuracy, LR achieves 81.53% accuracy, VC achieves 86.9% accuracy and DL LSTM achieves 94.07% accuracy. It is clearly that the LSTM technique is provides good accuracy compared to other ML technique. © 2024 IEEE.

Tomatoes are essential fruits in numerous nations for their vast demand. It is very important to maintain the freshness of tomatoes. One of the primary challenges in the recent culinary landscape is accurately identifying healthy tomatoes while effectively eliminating damaged or rejected ones. Existing approaches employ various strategies for categorizing tomato fruit, but they often suffer from inaccuracies, slow detection, and suboptimal performance. Thus, motivated by this gap, in this paper, we propose a novel machine learning (ML) framework, ViT-SENet-Tom, which is a hybrid vision transformer (ViT) model with squeeze and excitation (SENet) block network for fast, accurate, and efficient tomato fruit classification. The framework works on three tomato classes, respectively, the ripe, unripe, and reject. In developing the proposed model, we utilized advanced and newly designed layers and functions. This integration created a more complex and sophisticated neural network, significantly enhancing efficiency and contributing to the model’s novelty. Our chosen dataset was small initially, but we implemented augmentation techniques to increase its size. This approach made our system more reliable, efficient, and effective. The hybrid ViT-SENet framework employs encoders and self-attention networks with squeeze and excitation channel functions to allow precise, robust, fast, and efficient tomato classification. In simulation, the framework achieves a training accuracy of 99.87% and validation accuracy of 93.87%, indicating the precise classification of tomatoes. Besides, this work tests accuracy using fivefold cross-validation. The highest accuracy seen at fold-5 is 99.90%. These testing results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed framework in real-deployment scenarios. The implementation has the potential to provide enhanced and more sustainable food security and safety in future. © The Author(s) 2025.

Increasingly popular decentralized applications (dApps) with complex application logic incur significant overhead for executing smart contract transactions, which greatly limits public block chain performance. Pre-executing transactions off the critical path can mitigate substantial I/O and computation costs during execution. However, pre-execution does not yield any state transitions, rendering the system state inconsistent with actual execution. This inconsistency can lead to deviations in pre-execution paths when processing smart contracts with multiple state-related branches, thus diminishing pre-execution effectiveness. In this paper, we develop Seer, a novel public block chain execution engine that incorporates fine-grained branch prediction to fully exploit pre-execution effectiveness. Seerpredicts state-related branches using a two-level prediction approach, reducing inconsistent execution paths more efficiently than executing all possible branches. To enable effective reuse of pre execution results, Seer employs checkpoint-based fast-path execution, enhancing transaction execution for both successful and unsuccessful predictions. Evaluations with realistic block chain workloads demonstrate that Seer delivers an average of 27.7× transaction-level speedup and an overall 20.6× speedup in the execution phase over vanilla Ethereum, outperforming existing block chain execution acceleration solutions. © 2025, VLDB Endowment, All rights reserved.

Today, Agricultures has become a significant element of people's life. Among them fruits and vegetables are a great thing for healthy lives. Classification of fruits and vegetable are difficult for normal person because of some same similarities like shape and color. Also, Fruits and Vegetables classification is an important process in industries applications as well as local market. Lots of similarities available between fruits like apples, pears and peaches, and that kinds of fruits are generally used in daily routine. As well as some vegetables are same in shape, so it will be difficult to differentiate in this type of situation for old persons. The previous research for solution of this type of problem for classification of fruits CNN is used but the problem in this research is when they use the self-made datasets then their accuracy decreases as compare to public datasets accuracy increases. To solve this type of problem, here produce a kind of algorithms in the paper to classify fruits and vegetable, using deep leaning technique such as VGG16 and DenseNet169 model have capability to extract the feature of images very deeply using various small filters so it provide a better result. On this premise, it was used to classify fruit kinds against a complex background and integrated with data improvement technology for future usage. It might be helpful for human for automatic differentiate the both categories. This project is implemented in the python programming language and the dataset used Fruits and Vegetables Image Recognition Dataset for the classification. Which will help to differentiate between Fruits and Vegetables with high accuracy rate. For the implementation of this project used Python programming and this implementation using the tool like Jupiter and Kaggle Notebook and used GPU for highspeed execution. © 2024 IEEE.

The flourish of deep learning frameworks and hardware platforms has been demanding an efficient compiler that can shield the diversity in both software and hardware in order to provide application *** the existing deep learning compilers,TVM is well known for its efficiency in code generation and optimization across diverse hardware *** the meanwhile,the Sunway many-core processor renders itself as a competitive candidate for its attractive computational power in both scientific computing and deep learning *** paper combines the trends in these two ***,we propose swTVM that extends the original TVM to support ahead-of-time compilation for architecture requiring cross-compilation such as *** addition,we leverage the architecture features during the compilation such as core group for massive parallelism,DMA for high bandwidth memory transfer and local device memory for data locality,in order to generate efficient codes for deep learning workloads on *** experiment results show that the codes generated by swTVM achieve 1.79x improvement of inference latency on average compared to the state-of-the-art deep learning framework on Sunway,across eight representative *** work is the first attempt from the compiler perspective to bridge the gap of deep learning and Sunway processor particularly with productivity and efficiency in *** believe this work will encourage more people to embrace the power of deep learning and Sunwaymany-coreprocessor.
