This paper reports an effective method of packaging a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) for the simultaneous measurement of temperature and strain. The technique consists of embedding two fiber Bragg grating sensors inside a polymeric material with different geometrical characteristics. The mechanical and thermal characterizations of the optical transducer were performed. Then a matrix equation used measurements of the wavelength shifts from the two sensors and yielded information about the temperature and strain coefficients. The preliminary results demonstrate the feasibility of the encapsulation technique allowing measurements of temperature and strain in smart structures and harsh environments. The experimental procedure provides robustness to the sensor and the matrix equation approach has the potential to determine simultaneously the strain and temperature coefficients. © 2013 SBMO/SBMag.

The degradation of transformer's internal insulation system can be monitored by partial discharges activity. Among the supervising systems, the use of ultra high frequency (UHF) antennas attached on transformer's tank is highlighted. The UHF microstrip antennas can be used on this task and provide some interesting features, such as, low cost, ease of manufacturing and installation on several facilities. However, the microstrip antennas have a narrow band. The main objective of this work is to analyze the applicability of a microstrip circular antenna on detection of partial discharges in power transformers. For this purpose, a truncated ground plane technique for bandwidth optimization was applied. The manufactured antenna reached a high sensitivity for the partial discharges detection, showing mean gainvalue higher than 2 dB on the frequency range analyzed, as well return losses lower than-10 dB. © 2018 IEEE.

This paper presents a parallel array of processors implemented in a Field programmable Gate Array (FPGA) for the solution of linear equations systems. The solution is performed using the division-free Gaussian elimination method. This algorithm was implemented in integrated processors in a FPGA Spartan 3 of Xilinx. A top-down design was used. The proposed architecture can handle IEEE 754 single and double precision floatingpoint data and the architecture is implemented in 240 identical processors. Also, an algorithmic complexity of de O(n2) was obtained using a n2 processors scheme that perform the solution of the linear equations. The parallel division-free Gaussian elimination method, the architecture's data distribution, the internal processor-element architecture and the communication scheme between processor elements (PE) are presented. Finally, this paper presents the obtained simulation results and synthesis of the modules designed in Very High Description Language (VHDL) using 40 and 100 Mhz frequencies.

In this work, is developing a method for obtaining the point of impact of a rocket by telemetry data and a Slant Range device. The trajectory data was obtained from a real flight path by merging the angular components of a telemetry antenna (azimuth and elevation) and the radial distance information provided by the Slant Range device. Position components were analyzed with the Telemetry antenna in automatic mode (in tracking), comparing with the tracking performance performed by the location radar. The result is obtained by the composition of the coordinates of the Telemetry-Slant Range set. A significant reduction in the search area can be used as an alternative form of use, providing additional location information for payload recovery around the actual point of impact. © 2021 IEEE.

The difficulty of operation and the limitation of movements that myoelectric prostheses can accomplish, besides the aesthetic aspect, influence the acceptance of upper limb myoelectric prostheses by their users. In this work, an agent-based control architecture is applied to a multifunction myoelectric prosthesis. The period of the patient's adaptation and the acceptance degree are improved in relation to the conventional control prosthesis, where the patient does not have control of forms of holding, applied force, and seizing configurations.

Currently, the performance of the police in Indonesia is often in the spotlight of the public with cases that occur, both on a national and regional scale, including personal experiences who also feel disappointed with the performance of the police. The cases, such as the rape of three children by a biological father in East Luwu, and the barrage of other cases that have occurred, in their handling have left the public disappointed, giving rise to the hashtag percumlaporpolisi on social media, especially on twitter. This hashtag became trending and was widely responded to by the public. Using free hashtag keywords, tweet data is collected using Twitter's API for sentiment analysis. The datasets obtained from the crawling results is the latest data with a total of 100 datasets. This study applies the naïve bayes algorithm using textblob which aims to determine the value of polarity and subjectivity. From the results of the analysis carried out, the words that appear most often are useless police, police chief, and policeman. While the results of the sentiment analysis that has been carried out are 40 percent positive sentiment, 40 percent are neutral sentiment and 10 percent are negative sentiment from the hashtags used. From these results, according to the keywords used, the percentage of negative sentiment should be greater than positive and neutral sentiment. It is necessary to conduct a more in-depth study related to the model used in the next research. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work, a method for hierarchical hybrid linear-nonlinear microgrid control is proposed based on nonlinear primary control and linear secondary control. The nonlinear controller is an Extended Feedback Linearization method, and the linear controller is a PID structure. The proposed method is evaluated in several scenarios to validate its performance to disturbances and island operation mode. To this end, three units of distributed generation are included: Photo-Voltaic Energy Sources, Energy Storage Systems, and Small-Hydro-Power Sources. The results are simulated over a DC microgrid that contains three different distributed generation units with disturbances and island operation mode. As a result, the proposed approach's robustness is validated for several cases, where the advantage of a hierarchical linear-nonlinear structure is shown. © 2021. All Rights Reserved.

In this work is presented a study of the influence that basic components present in photovoltaic installations, have in conventional Arc Fault (AF) protection systems, one of this components is the DC/AC Converter and MPPT tracking system which both work under the command of a PWM switching control strategy. With a deeper analysis of this type of components is possible to develop an approach that improve the actual efficiency of arc fault prevention systems. The possibility of preventing arc faults by detecting a voltage drop and modifying converters control is study and disputed its in this work. This is possible due to the fact that the DC/AC converters has a direct impact in the harmonic content of current and voltage signals conventionally employed in Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDD), a comparative analysis of simulation results between both real and ideal schematic validate the statement above. © 2017 IEEE.

This paper proposes a new application based on fuzzy logic to search the optimal Step Size of the Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) algorithm for beamforming systems. The searching of the step size depends on the fuzzy inference results of an estimation of the final value of the cost function (J_E) instead of using its instantaneous value. The update of the step-size is performed outside of the adaptive algorithm and given it feedback by the fuzzy inference system;therefore the step-size is still fixed for the NLMS algorithm but variable for the complete searching scheme. Simulation experimental results show that a useful approximation of the optimal step-size can be obtained for different conditions of signal-to-noise plus interference ratios (SINR) and the minimization of the mean square error for the adaptive beamforming algorithm is also achieved.

Finally, this paper presents the obtained simulation results and synthesis of the modules designed in very high-speed integrated circuit hardware description language (VHDL) using 40 and 100 Mhz frequencies.
