Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) process is an additive manufacturing technique that has attracted the interest of the automotive and aerospace industries due to its ability to manufacture parts with complex geometries and different types of metallic materials. However, the structure of the deposited layers and the geometrical characteristics of the manufactured parts are influenced by the interaction among the deposition process parameters. In this paper, fuzzy inference (FIS) technique was used to develop two models for predicting the geometrical characteristics and, for optimizing the LMD process parameters using AISI 316 stainless steel powder and substrate. An experimental design, based on factorial analysis, was used to correlate the influence of selected deposition process parameters, laser power (Lp), powder flow (Pf) and focal length (Fl) with the process geometrical characteristics bead height (Bh), bead width (Bw), depth of penetration (Dp), dilution (d) and wetting angle (wa). The factors Lp and Fl were used with three operating levels each: Lp = 225 W, 250 W, 275 W, and Fl = 4.8 mm, 5.0 mm, 5.2 mm. The factor Pf was used with two levels, 9.40 g/s and 13.35 g/s. Analysis of variance allowed identifying that the Pf affect the Bh, Bh/Bw ratio, d and wa. The increase in Laser power (Lp) resulted in an increase of the geometric characteristics Bw and Dp. The first FIS, for predicting the bead’s geometrical characteristics, presented high adequacy (relative error up to 8.43 %) for assessing the experimental conditions. The second FIS indicated the best possible interaction, given the studied operating conditions and the variables evaluated. The maximum Output Defuzzified Index (ODI = 0.845) was obtained with the deposition process parameters Lp = 250 W, Fl = 5 mm, and Pf = 9.40 g/s. © 2021, CC BY.

Strategies have been developed in the last decades to improve the sustainability of produced goods,including cleaner production (CP) as an important approach in identifying problems and propose alternatives for improvement under a holistic *** Serrana city,located at Minas Gerais state,Brazil,has a footwear cluster considered fundamental for the regional socioeconomic ***,the production is still based on outdated management techniques that make it economically noncompetitive and cause high load on the natural environment,which claims for studies supporting decisions towards higher *** work aims to discuss about the results obtained after applying the CP approach in three footwear factories located in Nova Serrana ***,the factories are assessed under emergy (with an "m") and material flow accounting *** show that CP was helpful in identifying opportunities for improvement related to better management that is usually easy and cheap to be achieved,including employee training,updating internal control of material storages,reusing scrap materials,and redesigning the procedure of synthetic leather *** indicators obtained from the used environmental accounting tools suggest two approaches for a decision: (i) when pursuing sustainability under a global perspective,footwear factory C should be promoted since it causes lower load on the upstream processes by demanding lower emergy (3.8 E 18 sej/yr),abiotic,water and air resources (1.13 E6 kg/yr,3.66 E7 kg/yr,and 3.82 E5 kg/yr respectively);(ii) when pursuing sustainability by considering socioeconomic short to medium needs,footwear factory B should be promoted since it has higher efficiency in producing footwear (4.03E13 sej/kg for emergy demand,10.64 kg/kg for abiotic,319.09 kg/kg for water and 3.96 kg/kg for air).This work contributes with practical basis for the environmental accounting and management of footwear enterprises providing important su

The aim of this study was to map the innovation of services in small and medium-sized enterprises, as reported on the Web of Science and SCOPUS databases, using a structured review, involving 121 papers published between 1946 and 2019. There has been an increase in the number of studies in recent years, covering 23 countries on six continents, with the UK representing 48.78% of the studies. Patterns in the use of methods applied in research were identified, as well as a conceptual structure of the field. The main areas of science were finance, marketing, energy, and green engineering. The study makes an original contribution to the literature, highlighting the interest in the expansion of knowledge among the academic community, in addition to enabling a deeper analysis of the relation between the evaluated constructs. © 2020, The Author(s).

Economic globalization and population growth have greatly challenged energy, water and land resources to meet demand at national and supra-national level. A growing share of this demand is met through trade. The Belt and Road, a major global initiative of China, with trade as one of its core fields is of particular importance due to greater potential of economic growth, substantial population size and varying degree of resource availability. The initiative reflects a new phase of globalization yet resources management with nexus thinking has received little attention. The increasing economic interdependence of national economies have contributed to rise in production and trade of goods and services, these activities require the input of energy-water-land and generate disturbances in the environment. The multi-regional input-output approach is utilized, to assess resources use by production as well as consumption (for the year 2010). A nexus strength indicator was developed to show the simultaneous use of multiple resources in economic system, conceived as resource nexus. The ternary diagrams were used for screening resources combinations along with *** revealed that China has strong nexus strength that indicates large usage of the three resources together. Besides China, the East European countries were also positioned mostly at the center of ternary plot suggesting somewhat equal contributions of energy, water and land to the resource nexus. On the contrary, countries that appeared at the margins of the plot indicated one or two stronger nexus components in the three resources system. For instance, Russia largely used land, South Korea was entirely driven by energy while India mostly used water in the ternary mix. Due to differences in industrial structure, trade policy priorities and technology use, the resource nexus matters are not the same among countries. Invisible microplastics (MP) have become a significant problem worldwide in recent years. Although many studies have highlighted the sources, effects, and fate of MPs pollution on various ecosystems in developed countries, there is limited information on MPs in the marine ecosystem along the northeastern coast of the Bay of Bengal (BoB). Coastal ecosystems along the BoB coasts are critical to a biodiverse ecology that supports human survival and resource extraction. However, the multi-environmental hotspots, ecotoxicity effects, transport mechanisms, fates, and intervention measures to control MP pollution initiatives along the BoB coasts have received little attention. Therefore, this review aims to highlight the multi-environmental hotspots, ecotoxicity effects, sources, fates, and intervention measures of MP in the northeastern BoB to understand how MP spreads in the nearshore marine ecosystem. This study critically evaluates the hotspots and ecotoxic effects of pollution from MP on the coastal multi-environment, e.g., soil, sediment, salt, water, and fish, as well as current intervention measures and additional mitigation recommendations. This study identified the northeastern part of the BoB as a hotspot for MP. In addition, the transport mechanisms and fate of MP in different environmental compartments are highlighted, as are research gaps and potential future research areas. Research on the ecotoxic effects of MP on BoB marine ecosystems must be a top priority, given the increasing use of plastics and the presence of significant marine products worldwide. The knowledge gained from this study would inform decision-makers and stakeholders in a way that could reduce the impact of the legacy of micro- and nanoplastics in the area. This study also proposes structural and non-structural measures to mitigate the effects of MPs and promote sustainable management.

Among the wide range of applications of Cobalt Ferrite (CoFe2O4), its usage for the manufacturing of modern electronic devices such as solar panels, capacitors and batteries has been studied' lately. Hence, solar-powered vehicles, which strongly rely their performance on energy efficient electronics, is a sector that could particularly benefit from enhanced applications of such material. In this work, the synthesis of Cobalt Ferrite was studied by means of Solution Combustion Synthesis (SCS) using iron nitrate nonahydrate and cobalt nitrate hexahydrate as precursors, and glycine as fuel. The nitrates were dissolved in distilled water and placed under stirring and heating for 5 minutes; when the temperature reached 60°C, glycine was added; after complete homogenization, the solution was placed in an electric oven (400°C) until complete combustion (approximately 15 minutes). Three syntheses were carried out using different concentrations of fuel: lean, stoichiometric and rich. The product crystallite size and composition were investigated in order to determine the influence of the fuel concentration on the structure of the produced cobalt ferrite.

This paper aims to present a theoretical framework for performance measurement of supply chain quality management (SCQM). A review of the literature on supply chain quality management, supply chain and quality management was conducted to develop key performance measurements related to six areas of integration between quality management and supply chain management environment: leadership, continuous improvement and innovation, sustainability, stakeholder involvement and commitment, information, and management and strategic planning. The findings suggest that SCQM integration can be assessed by nine performance measurements. The study contributes to our understanding of quality management practices within a supply chain (SC) environment from an integrated perspective. It extends the concept of supply quality chain integration by focusing on key performance measurement that may help to improve the overall performance of the supply chain.
