Partial order reduction techniques have been used to combat the state explosion problem in model checking procedures for concurrent systems with probabilistic behaviors. There are some results that give criteria on applying partial order reduction for verifying quantitative time properties and reward-based properties on actions. However, there are many situations that reward-based properties are expressed on states rather than on actions because actions are triggered in no time and the quantities can not be obtained easily. This paper presents reduction criteria for a probabilistic temporal logic that allows specification of restrictions on quantitative measures given by spatial resources function for the states of the considered system and provides the proof of the correctness. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper proposes a generalized model by extending Markov chain with spatial resources lab.ls, which can describe the functional and performance properties and some basic characteristics such as nondeterminacy and randomicity. The syntax and semantics of the new model are shown based on the existing temporal logics such as CSRL and pathCSRL. The model checking procedure is discussed and thus the practicability of the new model is intuitive. Based on the existing models, the proposed model includes spatial resources lab.ls only by adding the spatial information to the existing lab.ls of states, so the treatment of the state explosion problem is similar to that in the existing models. ©2010 IEEE.

Transactional memory (TM) is a parallel programming concept. Existing consistency protocols in distributed transactional memory system consume too much bandwidth and bring high latency. In this paper, we propose our Transaction Memory Consistency Protocol (TMCP), and point the new features compared to the current protocols. After formulating our model and analyzing the performance, we found both too much and too little execution time will cause more conflicts, given that the execution time of transaction population follows Gamma distribution. We indicate that it is important to adjust the execution time to a reasonable value to improve performance.

With the growth of hardware and software resources, It becomes a challenge that how to ensure the Quality of service (QoS) of resource scheduling in multiple virtual machine system. In order to solve this problem, the authors propose a control mechanism about QoS for resource scheduling. In the control mechanism, we first propose a theoretical model. Then, we present an elicitation algorithm to resolve the optimal model. In order to justify the feasibility and availab.lity of this control mechanism about QoS for resource scheduling in multiple virtual machine system, a series of experiments have been done. The results show that it is feasible to schedule the system resources and control the QoS of system resources for tasks in multiple virtual machine system.

With the development of the computer technology, the virtual machine has been become the main research topic. Understanding of the current technology and future trends of virtual machine system greatly help to improve the service performance of system. Therefore, we describe the current technology and present the future trends of virtual machine system in the paper. In the current technology of virtual machine system, we mainly describe the virtualization technology, the resource scheduling technology, the migration technology, the security technology and the performance evaluation technology. In the future trends of virtual machine system, we mainly present an overview of the future CPU architecture, the management mode of future memory and resource, the future maintaining method of system security and the performance evaluation method of future multiple virtual machine system.

With the growth of hardware and software resources, the management of virtual machine system is becoming more and more difficult. It has become a very difficult problem that how to schedule the system resource in real time and improve the service performance of resource in a multiple virtual machine system. In order to solve this problem, the authors propose a real-time scheduling mechanism of resource for multiple virtual machine system. In the real-time scheduling mechanism of resource, the authors first describe the architecture of multiple virtual machine system. Then, the authors present a real-time scheduling strategy of resource. In order to justify the feasibility and the availab.lity of this resource scheduling mechanism, a series of experiments have been done. The results show that it is feasible to schedule the system resources for tasks in multiple virtual machine system.

Inverted index is the most popular index structure in search engine. Applying index compression can reduce storage space on inverted index, and improve the search performance. In this paper, we achieve comprehensive performance evaluation of three stateof-the-art index compression schemes on open source information retrieval system-Lucene. We focus on the compression and storage of document ID, frequency and position information of Lucene word-level inverted index. The main work includes: 1) the impact of ifthen-else construction of decompression process on performance in Java environment;2) the algorithm's compression ratio on the different scale of data;3) the performance comparison of term and phrase search;4) whether interleaving index file has remarkable discrepancies in compression ratio and decompression speed. The experiment result and analysis is given in detail.

The indoor Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) is attracting more and more attention while a series of challenging problem still exists such as the real-time performance, location precision, and the large amount of disturbance signal brought by complex indoor circumstances. However, existing location estimation technology cannot satisfy the requirements of indoor RTLS. In this paper, a high-precision indoor location estimation technology based on Ultra Wideband and evolutionary matching mechanism is proposed, based on which an indoor location service platform is built with intelligent alerting strategy based on Newton collision graphic engine. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves not only the location estimation accuracy but also the ability to eliminate the multipath signals with low computational cost. © 2010 IEEE.

WISDOM is an international initiative to deploy large-scale in-silico docking on a public grid infrastructure in an attempt to find potential drugs against neglected or emerging diseases such as Malaria and Avian Flu. Within the framework of the WISDOM initiative, large-scale deployments of in silico docking have been done on production grid infrastructures, demonstrating the relevance of large scale grids for high throughput virtual screening from scientific and grid deployment perspective. However, from the usability point of view, there still seems to be a lot to be done in order to be able to get the gridenabled large-scale virtual screening approach handier for nonexperts of grid computing. To address this issue, we have developed an intuitive and easy-to-use grid-enabled virtual screening tool called Drugscreener-G (DSG), aiming to help scientists in drug discovery including biologists and biochemists to more easily carryout large-scale deployment of molecular docking on grids without having to know details of grid middleware services and tools. With the help of DSG, scientists can easily have access to the PDB database, download and view the 3D structure of target proteins of their interest, launch and manage millions of in-silico docking simulations on the grid. To facilitate the analysis of docking results, visualization and molecular modeling tools such as Jmol and Chimera have been integrated into DSG as well. The DSG client tool is now being used and tested by biologists in Chonnam National University, one of long-time partners of the WISDOM collab.ration. With the help of tools like DSG, their long-time dream of large-scale virtual screening on their own at any time with any help from grid experts is to be made realized in the near future.
