Mobile Edge computing (MEC) offers computational services near data sources to meet numerous real-time data processing demands of end devices. Scheduling dependent tasks in resource-constrained environments is a key research focus in MEC, aimed at enhancing the completion rates of applications within their deadlines. However, most existing works overlook the resource competition among requests arriving at different times, leading to decreased application completion rates. In this paper, we propose a dependent task online scheduling approach for multiple applications to optimize application completion rates. For multiple applications with deadline constraints, where tasks within each application may have dependencies, we propose a multi-priority task sequencing algorithm to determine the execution order of tasks. To accommodate scenarios where requests arrive at different times, we introduce a priority-based queue to dynamically adjust task execution order based on urgency and resource demands. Finally, by comparing with baseline approaches, experimental results demonstrate that our approach can improve the application completion rate by approximately 41.02%, demonstrating its effectiveness.

Nowadays, the integration of blockchain and MANET improves both MANET security and blockchain scalability. Hashgraph can better support the MANET-based blockchain by its inherent features, i.e., gossip about gossip, Byzantine fault tolerance, etc. In order to understand the limitations and performance of hashgraph in MANETs, this work investigate the theoretical model with two metrics. The metrics include the degree of node isolation and witness confirmation delay. By using the differential equations and markov chain, this work quantitatively analyze the general hashgraph with an optimal contact probability and the improved hashgraph resisting eclipse attacks, as well as identifying the expressions of these performance metrics. Extensive experiments support the analysis and reveal the impact of moving nodes and Byzantine nodes on the hashgraph performance in MANETs. To the best of our knowledge, our work is the first to apply DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) blockchain for the MANETs from a methodological perspective. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Blockchain is a peer-to-peer network system that stores chains of transaction data. Blockchain is decentralized and immutable. Once data is added to the chain, it cannot be modified or deleted. Smart contracts are intelligent protocols running at the application layer of blockchain, enabling trustworthy transactions without third parties. However, the openness and immutability of the architecture introduce various security risks. Integer bugs arise from improper handling of numerical variables. They pose significant dangers in smart contract because, in contracts, integer variables are often used to represent critical financial information, such as account balances, asset prices, and transaction amounts. If miscalculations occur, they can lead to substantial financial losses. This paper describes SolSecure, a framework based on abstract interpretation theory [1, 2], designed to find integer bugs in Ethereum smart contracts. Experimental results show that SolSecure can effectively detect integer vulnerabilities in Solidity smart contracts. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The evaluation of outputs from large language models (LLMs) is an important part of LLMs’ born. A comprehensive evaluation for LLMs requires substantial human and material resources. This work proposes a crowdsourcing evaluation framework based on blockchain to comprehensively evaluate the toxicity of the outputs from LLMs. The framework offers LLM service to users and collects their evaluation scores for the outputs from the LLM. The evaluation scores are kept on blockchain. During this, the framework allocates and updates the reputation scores based on users’ contributions to the overall evaluation, in order to mitigate the impact of individual users’ subjective biases on the results. This framework lowers the cost of evaluation and enhances the objectivity and reliability of the results. Experiments demonstrate that this framework provides robust support for the objective evaluation of LLMs and offers a feasible and efficient idea for future works in evaluation for LLMs. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

As a vital solution for data trading, blockchain often carries a substantial amount of critical data. Consequently, data quality, as a crucial evaluation metric, plays a key role in facilitating data trading on the blockchain. In the process of comprehensively evaluating the quality of multi-field datasets, it is crucial to determine the importance coefficient of each data item. The importance evaluation methods of data items include subjective methods that depend on expert scoring, as well as objective methods based on statistical methods. Objective methods evaluate field importance based on the laws of data itself. However, such methods start from the quality of data to be evaluated, and cannot reflect the mutual dependency between data items and the resulting field importance. To solve this problem, this article starts from the business dependency between data items, constructs a directed graph, namely dependency network. On this basis, according to the characteristics and quantity of data items that depend on fields, we propose the FieldRank algorithm. The algorithm objectively quantifies and evaluates the importance of each field, so that the field importance weight obtained based on the algorithm is directly related to the actual business and is more close to the essence of data business. Therefore, this algorithm can provide objective data quality evaluation results for data use. Practice has proved that in the case of large amounts of big data and closely related businesses, the data quality evaluation results obtained by this method are more close to actual business practice. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Mashup is an information system development project based on Web services. It can build new business processes by mixing data, resources and APIs from different sites or applications, and meet new user needs. However, in recent years, the number of Web API is increasing quickly, and it is difficult for developers and users to find suitable Mashups, which influences the development and functional efficiency of information systems. Therefore, designing an accurate and efficient Web service recommendation method to improve the functional characteristics of information systems has become a research hotspot. At present, many algorithms, like matrix factorization and collaborative filtering, often have serious cold start and sparse problems. In order to alleviate the above problems and capture as much information as possible, we proposed a multi-modal knowledge graph enhancement recommendation method (MKE), which combines structured information and unstructured information of Mashup and Web API. Firstly, the feature information is mined from the text description of API and Mashup to assist the construction of the service recommendation system. Then, the knowledge graph is constructed by using the related attributes and relationships of Mashup and API, as well as the entity and relationship of Mashup and API, and the text features. The low-dimensional embedded Trans model provides Top-K recommendation results for the specified Mashup description. Finally, experiments are carried out on the latest ProgrammableWeb dataset, and the experimental results show that the recommendation performance of this method is better than that of RippleNet, NCF, CKE, KGCN. © 2023 SPIE.

Smart contracts play a vital role in blockchain applications, supporting an expanding array of services as the number of blockchains rises. As service requirements become increasingly complex, the need for access and collaboration among multiple smart contracts becomes more prevalent. However, achieving access between smart contracts on different blockchains presents a significant challenge in the Internet of Blockchain scenario comprising numerous heterogeneous blockchains. In this paper, we first explore the problem of smart contract access in cross-heterogeneous blockchain scenarios. Then, an Oracle gateway-based cross-chain smart contract access architecture and a subscription-based cross-chain smart contract active access mechanism are proposed. Finally, a prototype is implemented to show that our architecture and mechanism can support cross-chain smart contract access for heterogeneous blockchains and reduce the complexity and latency of cross-chain smart contract access. © 2023 IEEE.

Electronic archives are electronic files with very high security requirements. We use block chain technology to implement a distributed PKI system. On this basis, we build an archives system ArchivesChain based on block chain to solve the drawbacks of the current centralized storage of archives and the security problems caused by the excessive centralization of traditional *** have implemented multi-point authentication of archive data through block chain technology, including certificate registration and verification confirmation when archives are generated, ensuring data security during the process of receiving and migrating archives, and generating archive certificates on the chain, similar to handling identity cards for each electronic *** with CA authentication systems in traditional PKI, the block chain-based PKI in our system is provided by all members of the Federation to verify and authenticate the data, thus ensuring that archives information can not be tampered with and providing authentic authentication with credibility. © 2021 IEEE.

Analyzing textual semantics in matching user query and service description is critical for Web service discovery. Existing works mostly extract the features of the description and query independently, downgrading them into word-level calculation, which can not jointly extract the accurate semantics. For this issue, this work explores a way to enable the semantic matching for the contents (including words, phrases, or sentences) in query and the sentences in service description, by mapping words and sentences into the same semantic space. Specifically, we propose an unsupervised Bayesian probabilistic model, bi-Directional Hybrid Priors Topic Model (bi-HPTM), to capture the textual semantics of the words and sentences in a probabilistic simplex, which provides a flexible operation to build the semantic links from the queries to service descriptions. Meanwhile, the textual semantics generated by bi-HPTM is highly interpretable that help to understand the user requirements. The proposed model is examined by ProgrammableWeb. Experimental results demonstrate that bi-HPTM outperforms state-of-the-art methods for semantic service discovery on service classification and retrieval. The visualizations of the nearest-neighbored queries and descriptions show the insights of our model on capturing the latent semantics of Web services.

In this paper, we present a garbage image classification framework to tackle the waste sorting problem which besets residents around the world every day. The proposed framework consists of two modules, a convolutional neural network backbone transferred from the ImageNet classification task and a customized network header designed for the garbage image classification task. To friendly deploy into mobile devices, the proposed method makes an artful tradeoff between classification accuracy and running efficiency. The proposed framework yields 95.62% online classification accuracy on the test dataset provided by Huawei cloud with 95ms per image inference time occupying 897 Megabytes GPU memory. © 2021, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
