Diffraction-free propagation and self-healing characteristics [1] of Bessel beams have generated significant interest in the scientific community. Zeroth-order Bessel beams (ZOBBs) have maximum intensity at the center and found many applications, including bio-imaging material processing, optical trapping, bio-imaging, and quantum communication. On the other hand, higher-order (vortex) Bessel beams (HOBBs) present a helical wavefront, so they have a node due to a phase singularity and carry orbital angular momentum (OAM). Over the past years, Bessel beams have been generated by using different approaches - which could be different for ZOBBs and HOBBs - namely by Fourier transforming a narrow circular beam with a lens, by using axicons or with holographic beam shaping techniques. © 2023 IEEE.

The "Mobile Charging Port for Electric Vehicles"addresses the logistical challenges inherent in the current electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This innovative solution introduces a solar-powered portable charging unit integrated with electric vehicles, designed to provide emergency power when the vehicle's battery is critically low and the driver is stranded away from established charging stations. The system dynamically calculates the distance between the vehicle's present location and its destination, determining the necessary charge to ensure the vehicle can reach its intended endpoint using a charge controller. By leveraging solar energy for the portable charger, this project enhances the reliability and convenience of EV usage, offering a sustainable and immediate solution to prevent and manage range anxiety in remote locations. © 2024 IEEE.

Mutual Impedance Computation of a Waveguide Slot-Fed Arbitrary Patch Using Combined Conventional Moment Method and Equivalent Electric and Magnetic Dipole Method

This paper proposes computing the mutual impedance of a multi-layer patch fed by a slotted waveguide using the combined equivalent electric and magnetic dipole-moment method and conventional moment method (EDM-MOM) as an efficient technique. The slot, PEC, and dielectric regions are substituted with equivalent currents. The unknown currents are expanded using the Rao-Wilton-Glisson and Schaubert-Wilton-Glisson basis functions. The matrix equations are then extracted from the boundary conditions. Using the EDM, each RWG or SWG of the PEC and dielectric is equivalent to an infinitesimal electric dipole, and that of the slot is equivalent to a magnetic dipole. The element matrix related to the waveguide excitation is calculated using the conventional moment method due to simple integration and accuracy. Further, the superposition of the mutual coupling between each equivalent electric or magnetic dipole in the first element and each dipole in the second element is used to obtain the mutual impedance of the two elements of the waveguide slot-fed patch array. The proposed method shows good agreement with CST software simulation results. © 2022, Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

LiNi_(0.5)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.3)O_(2)(NCM523)has become one of the most popular cathode materials for current lithium-ion batteries due to its high-energy density and cost ***,the rapid capacity fading of NCM severely hinders its development and ***,the single crystal NCM523 materials under different degradation states are characterized using scanning transmission electron microscopy(STEM).Then we developed a neural network model with a two-sequential attention block to recognize the crystal structure and locate defects in STEM *** number of point defects in NCM523 is observed to experience a trend of increasing first and then decreasing in the degradation *** space between the transition metal columns shrinks obviously,inducing dramatic capacity *** analysis sheds light on the defect evolution and chemical transformation correlated with layered material *** also provides interesting hints for researchers to regenerate the electrochemical capacity and design better battery materials with longer life.

The detection of Hardware Trojans is crucial for ensuring trust in the semiconductor IC supply chain. However, existing detection methods that rely on side-channel analysis often require golden chips for verification. This paper presents a new approach to Hardware Trojan detection that utilizes unsupervised machine learning with side-channel analysis to eliminate the need for golden data. Trojans of varying sizes were implemented on an FPGA to evaluate the method to perform unsupervised clustering and detect anomalies. The proposed model achieved high accuracy, 93%, and improved the detection of small and short-triggered Trojans compared to competing approaches. The unsupervised learning techniques demonstrated a better false positive rate and similar accuracy to supervised approaches such as the KNN classifier, SVM, and Gaussian classifier which require golden data for training. This research contributes a new approach to Hardware Trojan detection that can improve the trustworthiness of semiconductor IC supply chains. © 2023 IEEE.

Pareto Optimal Hybrid Beamforming for Short-Packet Millimeter-Wave Integrated Sensing and Communication

Pareto optimal solutions are conceived for radar beamforming error (RBE) and sum rate maximization in short-packet (SP) millimeter-wave (mmWave) integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). Our ultimate goal is to realize ultra-reliable low-latency communication (uRLLC) and real-time sensing capabilities for 6G applications. The ISAC base station (BS) transmits short packets in the downlink (DL) to serve multiple communication users (CUs) and detect multiple radar targets (RTs). We investigate the performance trade-off between the sensing and communication capabilities by optimizing both the radio frequency (RF) and the baseband (BB) transmit precoder (TPC), together with the block lengths. The optimization problem considers the minimum rate requirements of the CUs, the maximum tolerable radar beamforming error (RBE) for the RTs, the unit modulus (UM) elements of the RF TPC, and the finite transmit power as the constraints for SP transmission. The resultant problem is highly non-convex due to the intractable rate expression of the SP regime coupled with the non-convex rate and UM constraints. To solve this problem, we propose an innovative two-layer bisection search (TLBS) algorithm, wherein the RF and BB TPCs are optimized in the inner layer, followed by the block length in the outer layer. Furthermore, a pair of novel methods, namely a bisection search-based majorizer and minimizer (BMM) as well as exact penalty-based manifold optimization (EPMO) are harnessed for optimizing the RF TPC in the inner layer. Subsequently, the BB TPC and the block length are derived via second-order cone programming (SOCP) and mixed integer programming methods, respectively. Finally, our exhaustive simulation results reveal the effect of system parameters for various settings on the RBE-rate region of the SP mmWave ISAC system and demonstrate a significantly enhanced performance compared to the benchmarks. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

This paper presents the identification of second-order two-dimensional kernels using the Volterra series model in the frequency domain. The study focuses on nonlinear systems where the input varies over both time and spatial dimensions. The Volterra series, known for its effectiveness in modeling complex nonlinear systems, is extended to two dimensions. The kernels are computed using the least squares method, with the input defined as a product of cosine functions. By simplifying the expressions and applying the Fourier transform, accurate kernel identification is achieved. The results demonstrate the efficacy of this approach in precisely matching the estimated system with the actual system, as evidenced by the minimal identification error. This work contributes to the development of advanced techniques for nonlinear system identification in industrial and scientific applications. © 2024 IEEE.

This study offers a unified surgical conception of skin neoplasms using deep learning and genetic optimization techniques to improve classification values and speed of diagnosis. In this case, the architecture of Convolutional Neural Networks such as MobileNet, Xception and Inception is enhanced on the basis of the creative algorithms of Particle Swarm Optimization and Bat Algorithm to adjust the hyperparameters. The Heroku hosted cloud solution permits registered users to upload pictures of skin lesions via the web interface, where the picture is then processed through a Deep Neural Network (DNN) model that classifies the lesion as either melanoma or non-melanoma. The Convolution Neural Network (CNN) models were trained and evaluated on large publicly available datasets of skin lesions like ISIC, HAM10000 and the model performance was evaluated based on the effect of varying optimizers. Among all the architectures, Xception with Bat Algorithm (BA) performed best because of the more complex and deeper network architecture and extreme inception modules, which made it possible to extract and classify more complicated features. As a cloud-based solution, this system provides dermatologists and health practitioners with a more practical and workable solution for the detection of skin cancers. Furthermore, it can be utilized in other fields, which implies that this approach could extend its applications beyond dermatological imaging or imaging of patients at risk for other diseases, thus creating an adaptable and effective tool for clinical diagnosis in many areas of medicine. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Third-Order Sum-Difference Expansion: An Array Extension Strategy based on Third-Order Cumulants

Recently, numerous design schemes for high-order sparse linear arrays (SLAs) have been introduced for underdetermined direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation based on high-order cumulants, which utilize both difference co-array (DCA) and sum co-array (SCA) of the generator arrays to construct a large consecutive virtual co-array, achieving a significant increase in the number of uniform degrees-of-freedom (uDOFs). However, this processing places high demands on the generator arrays, which require both long consecutive DCA and SCA. In addition, the robustness of the derived array is prone to deterioration, due to reduced redundancy between DCA and SCA. To that end, in this paper, an alternative design scheme for third-order SLAs termed third-order sum-difference expansion (TO-SDE) is proposed, which no longer separates DCA and SCA by a shift factor, but considers them as a unified whole. In so doing, most desirable characteristics of the generator array are preserved, such as the size of consecutive virtual co-array, resistance to mutual coupling, and robustness against sensor failures, while the mapping from the sum-difference co-array based second-order SLAs to the third-order is achieved. By selecting the appropriate generator array, excellent DOA estimation performance can be attained in various scenarios. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

In response to the escalating impact of the greenhouse effect on Earth's climate, electric vehicles (EVs) have emerged as a pivotal solution for sustainable transportation. This research addresses a critical challenge to the widespread EV adoption, focusing on the efficient integration of EV chargers with existing electricity grids. A novel robust 'Terminal Conditioned Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Controller' (TC-ST-SMC) is proposed for the control of the power flow in bidirectional EV charging modes from grid to vehicle (G2V) and vehicle to grid (V2G). The novel contribution lies in tuning these controllers using a reinforcement learning (RL) based Deep Q-Network (DQN) agent. The global asymptotic stability of the proposed mathematical framework is validated using Lyapunov stability criteria which presents a significant step forward in achieving efficient and robust control for EV chargers. The proposed mathematical model of EV charger and its controller design underwent tuning and simulation in MATLAB/Simulink® (2023b) environment. Finally, hardware-in-loop (HIL) based experimental results verify the proposed framework and its realtime control. © 2024 IEEE.
