An improved Wu-Huberman community discovery algorithm based on edge points

There are two critical questions in the Wu-Huberman algorithm: one is picking two poles and the other is setting the threshold. By further studying the two questions, we present a method that makes the discovery of communities more precise and the scope of application of the algorithm wider. The method picks the edge nodes of two communities as two poles and finds the largest gap using the core nodes of communities, which can discover communities of arbitrary size instead of roughly the same size. © 2013 ISSN 1881-803X.

In the grid environment, there are a large number of grid resources scheduling algorithms. According to the existing Min-Min scheduling algorithm in uneven load, and low resource utilization rate, we put forward LoBa-Min-Min algorithm, which is based on load balance. This algorithm first used Min-Min algorithm preliminary scheduling, then according to the standard of reducing Makespan, the tasks on heavy-loaded resources would be assigned to resources that need less time to load balance, raise resource utilization rate, and achieve lesser completion time. We used benchmark of instance proposed by Braun et al. to prove feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithm. At Last, We introduced the SPA and gave the experimental results of Min-Min-SPA and LoBa-Min-Min-SPA. © Zhang et al.;Licensee Bentham Open.

Model for Software Behaviour Detection Based on Process Algebra and System Call

Behaviour detection models based on automata have been studied widely. By add- ing edge ε, the local automata are combined into global automata to describe and detect soft- ware behaviour. However, these methods in- troduce nondeterminacy, leading to models that are imprecise or inefficient. We present a model of software Behaviour Detection based on Process Algebra and system call （BDPA）. In this model, a system call is mapped into an action, and a function is mapped into a process We construct a process expression for each function to describe its behaviour. Without con- strutting automata or introducing nondeter- minacy, we use algebraic properties and algo- rithms to obtain a global process expression by combining the process expressions derived from each function. Behaviour detection rules and methods based on BDPA are determined by equivalence theory. Experiments demon- strate that the BDPA model has better preci- sion and efficiency than traditional methods.

Minkowski sum modeling of polyhedra based on VRML

On the basis of the introduction to basic methods of the geometry modeling based on virtual reality modeling language (VRML) and the concepts of Minkowski sum computation of polyhedra, we present a method of Minkowski sum computation and three dimensional modeling based on VRML. The method can simplify Minkowski sum computation of general polyhedra, and experimental results indicate that this method can calculate Minkowski sum of general polyhedra much faster and realize three-dimensional representation more accurately. This method can provide important technical references for Minkowski sum visualization of polyhedra. © 2013 ISSN 1881-803X.

Geometric algebra support vector machine for pattern recognition

Geometric algebra is the promotion of real, complex, quaternion, and has been successfully applied in physics, computer graphics, and other fields. The support vector machine (SVM) has been successfully used in the field of pattern recognition. On the basis of the Clifford support vector machine (CSVM), we improve support vector machine based on the principle of geometric algebra. We research the key technologies in training. The experimental results of the Iris data and Breast Cancer data set prove our ideas, and the correct recognition rates are 96% and 97.8%. © 2013 ICIC International.

A Recurrence method of attribute reduction based on rough set

According to the classical rough set, the attribute reduction set may be far from satisfactory due to the non-existence of core in the attribute reduction process of decision table. Aiming at this issue, this paper puts forward a recurrence method of attribute reduction;first find out the starting attributes with the highest division as the basic one, and then add the remaining attributes gradually to refine the undivided equivalence class until the non-existence of the samples which must be separated. The paper theoretically proved the relation between the traditional method and recurrence method of attribute reduction on the existence of core. The reliability of the new method was analyzed and illustrated by experiments. © 2013 ICIC International.

As a safe and economical method the pipeline is widely used to transport the oil and gas. At present, most of serious pipeline accidents are the artificial damages. The traditional leakage detection methods only infer the leakages by analyzing the parameters. The sensitivities are low and the leakage warning exclusively arrives after the leakage. The urgent problem is to detect the intrusions and locate the threat position. For this reason, we studied and developed a novel pipeline security monitoring and pre-warning system based on multi-seismic sensors. The system consists of many seismic geophones and data acquisition modules which are laid along the pipeline. The events such as footstep, car moving and the digging generate the seismic waves. These sensors and modules acquire the seismic signals. The empirical mode decomposition is used to acquire the IMFs (intrinsic mode functions). Then the IMF kurtosis features are normalized and used to recognize the different targets. In order to improve the individual target recognition accuracy, it proposes to fuse the identification results by using the Dempster-Shafer evidence theory and obtain the final judgment. If the target belongs to threat, the location will be finished. The time-frequency analysis method is used to process the seismic signals. The EMD outcomes are transformed by Hilbert-Huang Transform and then it can acquire the signal's instantaneous properties such as instantaneous frequency, phase and amplitude. In this paper we also discuss the localization procedures and put forward to a new passive localization method based on HHT and TDOA. The filed trails show the proposed methods work well. © 2013 American Society of Civil Engineers.

Aim: Spiking activities and neuronal network oscillations in the theta frequency range have been found in many cortical areas during information processing. The aim of this study is to determine whether nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) mediate neuronal network activity in rat medial septum diagonal band Broca (MSDB) slices. Methods: Extracellular field potentials were recorded in the slices using an Axoprobe 1A amplifier. Data analysis was performed off- line. Spike sorting and local field potential (LFP) analyses were performed using Spike2 software. The role of spiking activity in the generation of LFP oscillations in the slices was determined by analyzing the phase-time relationship between the spikes and LFP oscil- lations. Circular statistic analysis based on the Rayleigh test was used to determine the significance of phase relationships between the spikes and LFP oscillations. The timing relationship was examined by quantifying the spike-field coherence (SFC), Results: Application of nicotine (250 nmol/L) induced prominent LFP oscillations in the theta frequency band and both small- and large-amplitude population spiking activity in the slices. These spikes were phase-locked to theta oscillations at specific phases. The Rayleigh test showed a statistically significant relationship in phase-locking between the spikes and theta oscillations. Larger changes in the SFC were observed for large-amplitude spikes, indicating an accurate timing relationship between this type of spike and LFP oscillations, The nicotine-induced spiking activity (large-amplitude population spikes) was suppressed by the nAChR antagonist dihydro-~-erythroidine (0.3 pmol/L). Conclusion: The results demonstrate that large-amplitude spikes are phase-locked to theta oscillations and have a high spike-timing accuracy, which are likely a main contributor to the theta oscillations generated in MSDB during nicotine receptor activation.

Rain scenes rendering algorithm combining metaball with mass-spring surface

To solve the problems such as unreal effects, incomplete details in the rain scene, an algorithm to simulate water surface after rain hitting by combining Meatball with mass-spring water surface was presented. First, the raindrops model was estabished with particle system combining textures, and the water surface model was established with the mass-spring model. Secondly, the algorithm animated half globular bubbles after rain hitting with Meatball. Thirdly, water splash was simulated by means of the particle system and a gradual thinning and syncretizing technique. Finally, with the help of Cg language, the reflection and the refraction effect on the water surface, globular bubbles and water splash were simulated. The experiment shows that this approach can be used to simulate rain scenes efficiently and realistically.

Correlation technology of suturing procedure in virtual surgery

Aiming at the difficulty of achieving interactive simulation between soft tissue and suture, a method to simulate suturing procedure in virtual surgery was proposed. Firstly, mass-spring model was used as the physical model for soft tissue. In order to perform the relative motion between two masses of soft tissue realistically, an internal friction coefficient was introduced first. Secondly, the interaction of suture and soft tissue was aralyzed. A simple linear mass-spring model with following the leader algorithm was used to model the suture. A stress aralysis was carried out, when the suture touch the soft tissue, so the interaction process was close to physical reality. The movement of the whole suture computed by following the leader algorithm gave good performance in suture's rigidity characteristics. Finally, the interaction of the two deformable objects in a continuous pattern suture was considered, for each node of the soft tissue model, the node that attached to it was stored. This information can be used to compute the soft tissue deformation well. Experiment shows that it is realistical to simulate the soft tissue deformation and suture. meanwhile, the simulation is in real time.
