Microstructure and microhardness of a novel TiZrAlV alloy by laser gas nitriding at different laser powers

The Ti-20Zr-6.5Al-4V(T20Z,wt%)alloy surface was treated by the process of laser surface *** evolution of microstructures and microhardness has been investigated by changing the laser power parameter from 120 to 240 *** laser-treated T20Z samples show two regions with distinctly different microstructural features,as compared with the untreated substrate:dense TiN dendrites and(α+β)-Ti(remelting zone,RMZ),nanoscaleαlaths doped with part of p phase(heat-affected zone,HAZ).The formation of TiN dendrites can be analyzed by a series of complex reactions during the process of melting and *** increase in laser power results in the increase in content of TiN dendrite which is mainly due to the increase in energy *** HAZ,the self-quenching effect leads to the formation of nanoscale a laths and the residue ofβ*** profile of different regions was measured from the surface to the interior,and the highest microhardness was obtained(~HV 916.8)in the RMZ,as the laser power was set to 240 *** the present study,we explained various microstructural characteristics induced by laser surface nitriding treatment.

Using inclusions with a certain composite, which act as heterogeneous nucleation sites for intragranular acicular ferrite (IAF), has been acknowledged as an effective way for grain refinement. In this study, we investigated the strength of interaction between Mn solute atoms and different oxide inclusions (such as MgO, Ti2O3, and Al2O3) experimentally and using first-principles calculations, to identify the ability that oxides that can lead to the formation of local Mn-depleted zones (MDZ) promoting the nucleation of intragranular ferrite. The calculated results show that Ti2O3 are easy, MgO are moderately easy, and Al2O3 are invalid to form Mn-doped inclusions. Furthermore, the experimental results confirm that a wide MDZ appear at Ti2O3–steel interface, which effectively induces the nucleation of ferrite. © 2023, The Minerals, Metals & materials Society.

The static shear extrusion bonding experiment was carried out on the Q345 plates by the solid-state metal joining device with fast shearing. Meanwhile, based on the experimental and theoretical analysis, the influence of shear rate, the press quantity on the interface formation and microstructures evolution mechanism during shear extrusion bonding process were analyzed, and mechanical properties was investigated. The results show that with the increase of the press quantity, the interface formation divides into three stages, and the grain refinement is improved through dynamic recrystallization. The deformation work is provided by the bonding device, which is affected by shear rate. When the press quantity reaches 125%, the tensile strength of the specimens with high shear rate and low rate are 499.56MPa and 500.56MPa, respectively. © 2017 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

material of Na,0 doped 12Ca07Al203 (C 12A7-Na20) was prepared by the sol-gel method. And the precursor was sintered at 1623K for 3h. The phase composition and crystal structure of C12A7-Na20 was investigated by XRD analysis. The results indicated that Na20 would occupy the position of CaO or vacancy of C12A7 lattice and promote the formation of C12A7 when calcium/aluminum ratio (Ca0/Al203, molar ratio) was 1.4. Na20 would promote the formation of C3A when calcium/aluminum ratio was 1.7. The lattice parameters also proved the solid solution between C 12A7 and Na20. Alumina leaching experiments were carried out in sodium carbonate solution and the relationship between leaching ratio and doping content, calcium/aluminum ratio were established. γ-2CaOSiO2 is one of the main phases of calcium aluminate slag, which is obtained under 1500°C. Although γ-2CaOSiO2 is more stable than ß-2CaOSiO2, it will still be decomposed by sodium carbonate solution during alumina leaching process, and this will cause the occurrence of secondary reaction. The effect of liquid- solid ratio, caustic alkali, and temperature on decomposition property of γ-2CaOSiO 2 are studied. The secondary reaction mechanism is discussed by XRD analysis. The results indicate that the amount of decomposed SiO2 increase with the increase of caustic alkali concentration, which varies from 30gL-1 to 70g L-1. Leaching temperature affects the decomposition of γ-2CaOSiO2 and secondary reaction obviously. When temperature is above 75°C the influence degree of the latter is more serious than that of the former. XRD results indicate that the stable product of secondary reaction is hydrate garnet at lower temperature, but under higher temperature, hydrate garnet transforms into sodium hydrate alumina-silicate. Calcium-silica residue is the leaching residue of the lime sinter process which is used to extract alumina from low-grade bauxite or fly ash. The major phases of this residue are dicalcium silicate and calcium carbonate, and the minor phases are aluminates. A large amount of calcium-silica residue is produced because of the high material flow of lime sinter process and most of it is stockpiled. The main contents of the residue, CaO and SiO2, are the same as the main contents of ceramic glass. Therefore, the production of ceramic glass using calcium-silica residue as the main raw materials, B2O3 as fluxing agent and P2O5 as nucleation agent is reported on in this paper. XRD and DSC are used to analyze the property of the ceramic glass. The results show that the flexural strength and corrosion resistance of the ceramic glass obtained through a melting method are better.

High calcium/aluminum ratio (C/A=12:7) is one of the main problems which inhibit the development of lime sinter process. Decrease the C/A of clinker is studied in this paper. 12CaO·7Al2O3 (C12A7) and CaO·Al2O3 (CA) were synthesized at 1350 °C by analytical pure reagents. The phase composition of sinters was analyzed by XRD and the alumina leaching experiments were carried out. The results show that the optimal alumina leaching ratio of C12A7 and CA are 93.40% and 73.18%. The leaching experiments of the mixture of C12A7 and CA with different proportions were carried out. The alumina leaching ratio of the mixture reaches 91.12% when the content of C12A7 is 40% (in mass). Above this proportion, the alumina leaching ratio increases little. The results show that the existence of C12A7 can promote the leaching property of CA.

A numerical simulation method is used to predict the depth distribution of martensite and hardness in the case layer of carburizing (carbonitriding)-quenched 20CrMnTi steel. Microstructure and mechanical properties of 20CrMnTi steel after carbonitriding and subsequent induction hardening is investigated. The results show that the microstructure after nitriding and subsequent induction hardening is main tempered martensite and nitrides;after carbonitriding and subsequent induction hardening is main martensite and a small amount nitrides. The simulation results were a little different from experimental results. According to the results, the factors of reducing the accuracy of the numerical simulation method have been discussed. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
