Over the past decade, various methods for detecting side-channel leakage have been proposed and proven to be effective against CPU side-channel attacks. These methods are valuable in assisting developers to identify and patch side-channel vulnerabilities. Nevertheless, recent research has revealed the feasibility of exploiting side-channel vulnerabilities to steal sensitive information from GPU applications, which are beyond the reach of previous side-channel detection methods. Therefore, in this paper, we conduct an in-depth examination of various GPU features and present Owl, a novel side-channel detection tool targeting CUDA applications on NVIDIA GPUs. Owl is designed to detect and locate side-channel leakage in various types of CUDA applications. When tracking the execution of CUDA applications, we design a hierarchical tracing scheme and extend the A-DCFG (Attributed Dynamic Control Flow Graph) to address the massively parallel execution in CUDA, ensuring Owl's detection scalability. After completing the initial assessment and filtering, we conduct statistical tests on the differences in program traces to determine whether they are indeed caused by input variations, subsequently facilitating the positioning of side-channel leaks. We evaluate Owl's capability to detect side-channel leaks by testing it on Libgpucrypto, PyTorch, and nvJPEG. Meanwhile, we verify that our solution effectively handles a large number of threads. Owl has successfully identified hundreds of leaks within these applications. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to implement side-channel leakage detection for general CUDA applications.

Accurate estimation of regional winter wheat yields is essential for understanding the food production status and ensuring national food ***,using the existing remote sensing-based crop yield models to accurately reproduce the inter-annual and spatial variations in winter wheat yields remains challenging due to the limited ability to acquire irrigation information in water-limited ***,we proposed a new approach to approximating irrigations of winter wheat over the North China Plain(NCP),where irrigation occurs extensively during the winter wheat growing *** approach used irrigation pattern parameters(IPPs)to define the irrigation frequency and ***,they were incorporated into a newly-developed process-based and remote sensing-driven crop yield model for winter wheat(PRYM–Wheat),to improve the regional estimates of winter wheat over the *** IPPs were determined using statistical yield data of reference years(2010–2015)over the *** findings showed that PRYM–Wheat with the optimal IPPs could improve the regional estimate of winter wheat yield,with an increase and decrease in the correlation coefficient(R)and root mean square error(RMSE)of 0.15(about 37%)and 0.90 t ha–1(about 41%),*** data in validation years(2001–2009 and 2016–2019)were used to validate PRYM–*** addition,our findings also showed R(RMSE)of 0.80(0.62 t ha–1)on a site level,0.61(0.91 t ha–1)for Hebei Province on a county level,0.73(0.97 t ha–1)for henan Province on a county level,and 0.55(0.75 t ha–1)for Shandong Province on a city ***,PRYM–Wheat can offer a stable and robust approach to estimating regional winter wheat yield across multiple years,providing a scientific basis for ensuring regional food security.

In environmental monitor architecture, the usual way of processing data is centralized. On the one hand, this leads to a long time of data processing, and with the increasing number of monitoring sensors, the pressure of data processing in data centers increases sharply. The edge computing provides a feasible solution to relieve the processing pressure and decrease the delay of data processing in data center. However, in the environmental monitor system, the edge servers are often load unbalance because of the nonuniform distribution of sensors. While, it is usually ignored in recently researches. In this paper, we proposed a cooperative offloading strategy (MECOGA) based on genetic algorithm (GA). It aims to ease the data processing pressure and reduce the data processing time in the data center. In addition, the load balance of edge servers is also one of our optimization goals. In this paper, we aim at decreasing task processing delay and improving the system load balancing. Contrast to other algorithms, our MECOGA decreases the delay near 20% before collaborative loading. And the balance variance is 15% smaller than the Balance strategy. © 2022 Association for Computing Machinery.

Mining User–Item Interactions via Knowledge Graph for Recommendation

Introducing a Knowledge Graph (KG) to facilitate a recommender system has become a tendency in recent years. Many existing methods leverage KGs to obtain side information of items to promote item representation learning for enhancing recommendation performance. However, they ignore that KGs also may contribute to better user representation learning. To solve this issue, we propose a novel algorithm, the KIGR (Knowledge-aware Interaction Graph for Recommendation), to mine user–item interactions via KGs for assisting user representation learning. Specifically, a user–item interaction is encoded by attentively summing up the relation embedding about the item in the KG. Then, an unsupervised learning method is used to group the user–item interactions into different latent types. Further, a user–item interaction graph is divided into several subgraphs, which is referred to as a Knowledge-aware Interaction Graph, making each subgraph only contain one latent type of interaction. Finally, user representation is the fusion of user interest embedding, which is learned on the knowledge-aware interaction graph, whereas item representation is learned on the KG. Experimental results on MovieLens, LastFM and Amazon-Book validate that the proposed KIGR has a superior performance compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms.

CLNX: Bridging Code and Natural Language for C/C++ Vulnerability-Contributing Commits Identification

Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown great promise in vulnerability identification. As C/C++ comprises half of the Open-Source Software (OSS) vulnerabilities over the past decade and updates in OSS mainly occur through commits, enhancing LLMs' ability to identify C/C++ Vulnerability-Contributing Commits (VCCs) is essential. However, current studies primarily focus on further pre-training LLMs on massive code datasets, which is resource-intensive and poses efficiency challenges. In this paper, we enhance the ability of BERT-based LLMs to identify C/C++ VCCs in a lightweight manner. We propose CodeLinguaNexus (CLNX) as a bridge facilitating communication between C/C++ programs and LLMs. Based on commits, CLNX efficiently converts the source code into a more natural representation while preserving key details. Specifically, CLNX first applies structure-level naturalization to decompose complex programs, followed by token-level naturalization to interpret complex symbols. We evaluate CLNX on public datasets of 25,872 C/C++ functions with their commits. The results show that CLNX significantly enhances the performance of LLMs on identifying C/C++ VCCs. Moreover, CLNX-equipped CodeBERT achieves new state-of-the-art and identifies 38 OSS vulnerabilities in the real *** Codes 68M25 Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Disassembling is a necessary step for vulnerability mining or deep understanding of the operating mechanism of firmware. When disassembling firmware, the image base of the firmware need to be determined first, but the image base usually cannot be obtained directly. Given the widespread use of ARM processors in embedded systems, a method is proposed to determine the range of the firmware image base by targeting ARM firmware. First, the addresses loaded by the LDR instruction in the firmware are obtained, and then these addresses are deduplicated, sorted, and segmented to calculate the cumulative frequency. Then, the rapidly rising segment in the cumulative frequency curve is considered as the range of image base. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively determine the range of image base for firmware that uses LDR instruction to load address. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Graph Contrastive Learning for Multi-Behavior Recommender System

Multi-behavior recommender system aims to model user preference representation based on multiple types of user-item interactions (e.g., viewing, adding to favorites, adding to the cart, and purchasing). However, existing works have two limitations in general: 1) Most of them only concern the sparse observed user-item interactions (explicit interaction) and ignore the huge amount of unobserved user-item interactions (implicit interaction), which are incapable of fully capturing user preference in recommender systems. 2) Previous works typically tend to only extract valuable information by distinguishing target and auxiliary behaviors to model user reference representation, and they fail to explore the fine-grained commonality between target and auxiliary behaviors. To tackle these limitations, we propose a new model named Graph Contrastive learning with Multi-Behavior (GCMB) for a multi-behavior recommender system. Specifically, we utilize Randomized Singular Value Decomposition (rSVD) to inject implicit interaction into the model, and then combine explicit interaction and implicit interaction to learn user preference by graph contrastive learning. Furthermore, we consider the multi-level commonality between target and auxiliary behaviors to capture the fine-grained commonality and then model high quality of user preference representation. Extensive experiments on two real-world datasets demonstrate that our method consistently outperforms various state-of-the-art recommender methods. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

We investigate bidirectional teleportation that works in a fair and efficient manner. Two explicit protocols are proposed to realize bidirectional teleportation with a controller. One is a symmetric protocol for two-qubit states. The other is an asymmetric protocol for single-and two-qubit states. We then devise a universal protocol for arbitrary n_(1)-and n_(2)-qubit states via a(2n_(1)+2n_(2)+1)-qubit entangled state, where n_(1)≤n_(2).The receiver only needs to perform the single-qubit recovery operation, which is derived by a general expression. Moreover, a(2n_(1)+1)-bit classical communication cost can be saved within the controller’s broadcast channel by the use of network coding technology.

Pickering emulsion prepared by the interaction between polyphenols and protein can improve the stability of protein-based emulsion. The purpose of this study was to explore the complex formation mechanism of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)-porcine serum albumin (PSA) complex and the preparation of food-grade Pickering emulsion. By the UV and fluorescence spectral analysis, it was found that EGCG has an obvious fluorescence quenching effect on PSA, mainly static quenching. The results of synchronous, three-dimensional fluorescence and FT-IR spectroscopy showed that the hydrophobic microenvironment of aromatic amino acids and the secondary structure of PSA changed after EGCG was added. The results of molecular docking examined that EGCG and PSA form more stable complexes due to hydrogen bonds, and the binding energy was -4.43 kcal /mol. Compared with the PSA emulsion, the successfully prepared EGCG-PSA Pickering emulsion had smaller droplets and no obvious color in CLMS. The Pickering emulsion of EGCG-PSA had strong emulsification and high viscosity, which belonged to pseudoplastic non-Newtonian fluid. In addition, the free fatty acids release rate of EGCG-PSA Pickering emulsion was decreased by 9.9%. The antioxidant performance of the EGCG-PSA Pickering emulsion was improved, and the DPPH radical scavenging rate and the ABTS+ radical scavenging rate reached the highest, which were 93.72% and 57.16% respectively. This study provides important insights into the interaction between EGCG and PSA, and a reference for the development of polyphenol-protein complex Pickering emulsion in food, medicine, cosmetics, and other fields. © 2024, The Authors.
