It is observed in the literature that data augmentation can significantly mitigate membership inference (MI) attack. However, in this work, we challenge this observation by proposing new MI attacks to utilize the information of augmented data. MI attack is widely used to measure the model's information leakage of the training set. We establish the optimal membership inference when the model is trained with augmented data, which inspires us to formulate the MI attack as a set classification problem, i.e., classifying a set of augmented instances instead of a single data point, and design input permutation invariant features. Empirically, we demonstrate that the proposed approach universally outperforms original methods when the model is trained with data augmentation. Even further, we show that the proposed approach can achieve higher MI attack success rates on models trained with some data augmentation than the existing methods on models trained without data augmentation. Notably, we achieve 70.1% MI attack success rate on CIFAR10 against a wide residual network while previous best approach only attains 61.9%. This suggests the privacy risk of models trained with data augmentation could be largely underestimated. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

LogicalFactChecker: Leveraging logical operations for fact checking with graph module network

Verifying the correctness of a textual statement requires not only semantic reasoning about the meaning of words, but also symbolic reasoning about logical operations like count, superlative, aggregation, etc. In this work, we propose LogicalFactChecker, a neural network approach capable of leveraging logical operations for fact checking. It achieves the state-of-the-art performance on TABFACT, a large-scale, benchmark dataset built for verifying a textual statement with semi-structured tables. This is achieved by a graph module network built upon the Transformer-based architecture. With a textual statement and a table as the input, LogicalFactChecker automatically derives a program (a.k.a. logical form) of the statement in a semantic parsing manner. A heterogeneous graph is then constructed to capture not only the structures of the table and the program, but also the connections between inputs with different modalities. Such a graph reveals the related contexts of each word in the statement, the table and the program. The graph is used to obtain graph-enhanced contextual representations of words in Transformer-based architecture. After that, a program-driven module network is further introduced to exploit the hierarchical structure of the program, where semantic compositionality is dynamically modeled along the program structure with a set of function-specific modules. R-D model is the most commonly location model in geometric processing of SAR images. How to improve its location accuracy has been one of the focuses in application. Based on the in-depth analysis of the solving process of R-D equation, two kinds of influencing factors are selected to study. They are elevation and satellite orbit interpolation method. Then, aiming at the pixel location of high-resolution spaceborne SAR images, three kinds of DEM and two orbit interpolation algorithms were studied. The experimental results show that these two kinds of factors mainly affect the location accuracy of range direction, both the horizontal and vertical resolution of elevation have great influence on location accuracy, the quartic polynomial orbit interpolation can meet requirements of high accuracy location, and further improvement of the location accuracy need other auxiliary means.

The fast processing of SAR images is of great significance for SAR applications, and parallel computing is the most common solution. The paper studied the parallel computing algorithm for the geometric correction of single spaceborne SAR image, which is based on a classical serial geometric correction algorithm. After fully analyzing the parallel features of the algorithm, a CPU-oriented and a GPU-oriented global parallel correction algorithm were designed. Then, two spaceborne SAR images were used to test the speedup performance of the two algorithms. The experimental results show that the two parallel algorithms can greatly improve the speed of the geometric correction of spaceborne SAR image, and the performance of CPU-oriented parallel algorithm is mainly related to the number of CPU/cores, while the performance of GPU-oriented parallel algorithm is mainly related to the data granularity, and the latter has very high speedup ratio and is an efficient method for geometric correction of spaceborne SAR image.

The task assignment and path planning problems of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (multi-UAVs) cooperative assistance roadside units (RSUs) for data collection are optimization problems with the goal of minimizing time and energy consumption. This paper proposes a hierarchical optimization scheme for multi-UAVs collaborative assistance RSUs data collection. This solution solves the problems that the number of UAVs needs to be set in advance, the convergence speed is slow when the number of tasks increases, and it is easy to fall into a local optimal solution, and the convergence accuracy is poor. First, the solution uses the K-means algorithm to allocate tasks and group RSUs to find the right number of UAVs to perform the task. Then, this paper proposes a hybrid optimization algorithm based on bionic learning for path planning. Finally, we set up a reasonable evaluation mechanism and conducted simulation experiments. The algorithm in this paper is compared with genetic algorithm, gray wolf algorithm and whale algorithm, the results show that the total cost of the task obtained by the proposed algorithm is the lowest, the algorithm stability is better, and the convergence accuracy is the highest.

Evidence-Aware Inferential Text Generation with Vector Quantised Variational AutoEncoder

Generating inferential texts about an event in different perspectives requires reasoning over different contexts that the event occurs. Existing works usually ignore the context that is not explicitly provided, resulting in a context-independent semantic representation that struggles to support the generation. To address this, we propose an approach that automatically finds evidence for an event from a large text corpus, and leverages the evidence to guide the generation of inferential texts. Our approach works in an encoder-decoder manner and is equipped with a Vector Quantised-Variational Autoencoder, where the encoder outputs representations from a distribution over discrete variables. Such discrete representations enable automatically selecting relevant evidence, which not only facilitates evidence-aware generation, but also provides a natural way to uncover rationales behind the generation. Our approach provides state-ofthe-art performance on both Event2Mind and ATOMIC datasets. More importantly, we find that with discrete representations, our model selectively uses evidence to generate different inferential texts. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

River runoff changing will directly affect the safety of the surrounding areas. In theory, river runoff can be calculated from water depth, river width and flow velocity. But in the actual monitoring, the observation of water depth, river width and flow velocity is complex. Radar remote sensing can observe target all-time and all-weather, and has the ability to penetrate clouds, rain and fog. The common Radar remote sensing runoff calculation model is depth-runoff relationship model, which is constructed by fitting water depth and in-situ runoff. The river depth is derived from Radar Altimetry (RA) data. But this model has only one input parameter, the accuracy of this model inverted runoff is not high. In view of the above problems, this paper proposed the Multi-source Radar Remote Sensing Runoff Calculation Model (MRRS-RCM). Firstly, river width and relative water depth were derived from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images and RA data. Secondly, based on the Manning's equation, the flow velocity were described from river width and relative water depth. Thirdly, river width relative water depth, and in-situ runoff were fitted to construct MRRS-RCM. Experiments show the accuracy of MRRS-RCM estimated runoff is better than depth-runoff relationship model, the RRMSE values of MRRS-RCM reach 13%. © 2019 IEEE.

High-accuracy waterline mapping with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images is a challenging task because of the inhomogeneities of SAR imagery caused by the speckle noise and complex terrain. This paper presents a novel method for waterline mapping with subpixel accuracy. The proposed method mainly consists of three steps. Firstly, an improved Non-Local filter is adapted to suppress the speckle noise. Secondly, a Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering algorithm is used to extract the pixel-level waterline. Thirdly, along the pixel-level waterline, a novel subpixel-scale waterline extraction method based on bicubic convolution and Geometric Active Contour (GAC) model is presented to further improve the accuracy of the waterline. Without loss of generality, the Danjiangkou reservoir (DJKR), which is the largest artificial freshwater lake in Asia, is selected as a study case. SAR images from Chinese GaoFen-3 (GF-3) satellite working on different modes are processed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2019 IEEE.

Energy scarcity becomes a key factor restricting the development of the wireless communications network. Wireless power transfer, as it can provide a sustainable and reliable energy supply for wireless communications devices, has drawn a lot of interests in recent a few years. Thus, combining wireless power transfer to the wireless communications network can potentially extend the lifetime of wireless devices and thus prolong the operating-time of networks. In this paper, we consider the two-hop wireless networks, where the source node transmits information to the destination assisted by the relay node and the relay simultaneously harvests energy and receive information from the source node. In order to maximize the effective capacity (EC), which is the maximum constant arrival rate under specified quality of service (QoS) requirements, we investigate the statistical QoS supported resource allocation policies under full duplex transmission mode for wireless powered relay networks. Finally, numerical results are demonstrated to validate the theoretical derivations, which highlights the proposed scheme in terms of EC performance in comparison to the benchmark scheme.

Breaking the Curse of Space Explosion: Towards Efficient NAS with Curriculum Search

Neural architecture search (NAS) has become an important approach to automatically find effective architectures. To cover all possible good architectures, we need to search in an extremely large search space with billions of candidate architectures. More critically, given a large search space, we may face a very challenging issue of space explosion. However, due to the limitation of computational resources, we can only sample a very small proportion of the architectures, which provides insufficient information for the training. As a result, existing methods may often produce suboptimal architectures. To alleviate this issue, we propose a curriculum search method that starts from a small search space and gradually incorporates the learned knowledge to guide the search in a large space. With the proposed search strategy, our Curriculum Neural Architecture Search (CNAS) method significantly improves the search efficiency and finds better architectures than existing NAS methods. Extensive experiments on CIFAR-10 and ImageNet demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.
