Chinese characters have a long history and have been used until now. In recent years, they have attracted more and more foreigners to learn and use. However, traditional methods of Chinese character learning have a long cycle and are difficult. If we can understand the meaning of Chinese characters and form a knowledge group of them with relevant meanings, it can effectively improve learning efficiency. We achieve this goal by building a Chinese character semantic knowledge graph aims at organizing Chinese characters with semantic relevance together to facilitate the learners to understand. In the process of building the knowledge graph, the semantic computing capacity of HowNet was utilized, and 104187 associated edges were finally established for 6752 Chinese characters. Its scale meets the needs of overseas Chinese learners. © 2022 IEEE.

How to carry out recognition process in a quick and effective way is important to the oracle bone inscriptions research area. In this paper, we proposed a recognition method which adopt a skeletonization process to normalize handwriting and rubbing forms of oracle bone inscriptions into the same expression. Then by using models based on CNN such as VGG19, AlexNet and ResNet34, the proposed method can simultaneously handle recognition work with mixed input. The experiment results showed that our method achieve a good performance applied in the real oracle bone inscriptions data set. © 2024 IEEE.

In Social networks, user influence can be evaluated and calculated based on the network topology, user identity and user behavior. The corresponding user influence value can be obtained through the evaluation by simple user characteristic such as follower count or retweeted count. However, the user influence is affected by many factors, simple method is not enough to fully reflect the influence of a user, which needs a more comprehensive evaluation process. 'Retweet' and 'Comment' are the core functions of online social networks which can reflect the user behavior pattern and are the important basis of influence research. We proposed a behavior model based on user 'Retweet', 'Comment' and 'like' behaviors as well as related behavior tendency. Based on the model a user influence evaluation method is proposed. The experimental results show that the influence evaluation method can reasonably identify which users have greater influence. © 2021 IEEE.

oracle bone inscriptions (OBI) are ancient hieroglyphs originated in China and are considered one of the most famous writing systems in the world. Up to now, thousands of OBIs have been discovered, which require deciphering by experts to understand their contents. Experts typically need to restore, classify, and compare each character with previous inscriptions. Although existing research can assist with one of these operations, their performance falls short of practical requirements. In this work, we propose the oraclePoints framework, which represents OBI images as hybrid neural representations comprising features of images and point sets. The image representation provides inscription appearance and character structure, while the point representation makes it easy and effective to distinguish characters and noises. In addition, we demonstrate that oraclePoints can be easily integrated with existing models in a plug-and-play manner. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed hybrid neural representation framework supports a range of OBI tasks, including character image retrieval, recognition, and denoising. It is also demonstrated that oraclePoints is helpful for deciphering OBIs by linking ancient characters to modern Chinese characters. Our codes are available at https://***/. © 2023 ACM.

Graph convolutional network (GCN) is proposed to deal with graph-structured data, and is applied to many fields successfully, such as computer vision, natural language processing and biology. Most current graph convolutional networks and its derivative methods need node features for classification. In fact, it is a formidable task to obtain node feature or other information. Therefore, we mainly focus on improving accuracy of GCN on the graphs with node features. In order to resolve the issue, we propose a local shortest path GCN (LpGCN) in this work. The proposed method only regard q-hop shortest path distance as node feature, and then employ GCN to realize node classification. The experiment results show that the proposed method can significantly improve the accuracy of node classification in the networks without node features.

The oracle bone script from ancient China is among the world's most famous ancient writing systems. Identifying and deciphering oracle bone scripts is one of the most important topics in oracle bone study and requires a deep familiarity with the culture of ancient China. This task remains very challenging for two reasons. The first is that it is executed mainly by humans and requires a high level of experience, aptitude, and commitment. The second is due to the scarcity of domain-specific data, which hinders the advancement of automatic recognition research. A collection of well-labeled oracle-bone data is necessary to bridge the oracle bone and information processing fields; however, such a dataset has not yet been presented. Hence, in this paper, we construct a new large-scale dataset of oracle bone characters called OBC306. We also present the standard deep convolutional neural network-based evaluation for this dataset to serve as a benchmark. Through statistical and visual analyses, we describe the inherent difficulties of oracle bone recognition and propose future challenges for and extensions of oracle bone study using information processing. This dataset contains more than 300,000 character-level samples cropped from oracle-bone rubbings or images. It covers 306 glyph classes and is the largest existing raw oracle-bone character set, to the best of our knowledge. It is anticipated the publication of this dataset will facilitate the development of oracle bone research and lead to optimal algorithmic solutions.

Module structure detection of oracle characters with similar semantics

It is a highly productive approach to analyze human languages with complex networks, because the language network can effectively predict unknown features. One of the classical features in complex networks is module (or community) structure, which features dense intra-group connections and sparse inter-group connections. This work aims to identify oracle characters, the oldest characters in China, with similar semantic through module structure detection because about two-thirds of all oracle characters remain unknown. Firstly, two oracle character networks are constructed based on the context and shape of oracle rubbings and characters. Then, three module structure detection methods are employed to mine the modules from the oracle character networks. Through the experiments on the oracle character networks, three significant results are obtained. The first one is that oracle characters (or oracle variant characters) with similar semantics can be discovered by module structure, and the second one is that context and shape are of equal importance to the semantic formation of oracle characters. The last result is that modules have strong local topology of the network.

oracle bone inscriptions (OBI) refers to incised ancient Chinese characters found on oracle bones, which are animal bones or turtle shells used in divination in Bronze Age China. The vast majority record the pyromantic divinations of the royal house of the late Shang dynasty at the capital of Yin. OBI is the earliest and complete system ancient Chinese characters. It has very important research merit. With the development of computer and information technology, digitization processing of OBI becomes an important aspect in current digitization processing of ancient Chinese font. For information researchers, the study object is OBI sentences added punctuation marks by experts, but it is also a heavy and difficult work processing these sentences. In order to reduce the burden of OBI experts and the research difficulties in the OBI information processing, reusing and managing the existing OBI knowledge, an example-based machine translation (EBMT) method is proposed. The advantages of EBMT for OBI are analyzed, and an example library building method based on OBI-Chinese parallel corpus is introduced. Firstly, the basic construction steps of bilingual parallel corpus are analyzed. Secondly, the processes and key technologies of EBMT for OBI are studied. Finally, a machine translation system is developed to verify the proposed method. Experimental results show that the target sentences obtained by the machine translation can meet the demands of information technology researchers. © 2012 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. - All right reserved.
