Dual approach in textile wastewater treatment: optimisation and comparison of fluidised-bed and conventional Fenton processes

This study optimises secondary textile dyeing wastewater removal using fluidised-bed Fenton (FBR-Fenton) and standard Fenton processes for chemical oxygen demand (COD) and colour removal efficiency. The Box–Behnken response surface approach optimised pH, iron ion concentration, and hydrogen peroxide concentration. At pH 3.3, [Fe2+] = 2.6 mm, [H2O2] = 6.4 mm in the fluidised bed reactor with 67 g/L quartz sand, with a 50% bed expansion after 40 min, the FBR-Fenton process removed 75.8% COD and 98.0% colour. The standard Fenton method was tuned to pH 3.2, [Fe2+] = 3.1 mm, [H2O2] = 6.6 mm, and COD and colour removal effectiveness of 69.7% and 97.5%, respectively. FBR-Fenton enhanced COD and total iron removal efficiency, reduced chemicals, and reduced sludge by 28.0% compared to conventional Fenton. This study also showed quartz sand reusability in FBR-Fenton treatment cycles. Experimental results matched response surface model predictions, proving regression equation correctness. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Recharge of Groundwater through various initiatives at village and community level benefits agriculture and the local communities through strengthening of water supply and enhancing the resilience to drought. In this regard local village pond widening & deepening were undertaken in this village which is located in water-stressed Marathwada region within the state of Maharashtra. It was found that it resulted in an increase in water capacity of 21.59 Lakh Liters. Deep convolutional spiking neural network fostered automatic detection and classification of breast cancer from mammography images

Purpose: Breast cancer (BC) is a leading cause of death among women. Several existing methods on breast cancer classification were suggested with machine learning, but none of them accurately classify the breast cancer and requires high computational time. To overcome these problems, deep convolutional spiking neural network fostered automatic detection and classification of breast cancer from mammography images (DCSNN-BCDC-MI) is proposed in this manuscript. Methods: Initially, input breast mammography pictures are taken from Digital Database for Screening Mammography (DDSM) data set. The input breast mammography images are pre-processed and feature extracted. The DCSNN is employed to categorize pictures using retrieved characteristics, such as benign and malignant. Results: The proposed DCSNN-BCDC-MI technique is implemented at PYTHON. The performance of the proposed DCSNN-BCDC-MI technique attains 31.13%, 12.78%, 14.38%, 19.33%, and 19.11% high accuracy and 61.08%, 66.42%, 66.54%, 50.26%, and 53.03% low computation time comparing to the existing techniques, like deep learning fed capsule neural network for breast cancer detection utilizing mammogram images (OMLTS-DLCN-BCDC-MI), extended model for tumor location detection based on deep learning (VGG-CNN-BCDC-MI), deep learning algorithm for automated identification with breast cancer classification depending on transfer-learning strategy (VGG16-BCDC-MI), deep learning method for breast cancer identification on mammography by learning certain cancerous mass representations (CNN-Deep AE-BCDC-MI), and automatic identification with mammograms classification dependent on increased extreme learning machine along deep learning (ICS-ELM-BCDC-MI), respectively. The effectiveness and accuracy of deep learning models for the precise diagnosis of diseases in hibiscus plants are studied. Gray mold, mainly caused by Botrytis cinerea, in diseased hibiscus leaves is identified using 560 images collected to form the dataset. Preprocessing of the obtained dataset is performed through resizing, data augmentation, and noise reduction, which ensures the variability of the dataset. The preprocessed dataset is employed to train four different deep learning architectures: custom CNN, ResNet-50, VGG-16, and VGG-19. The benefits of using each model are that they are able to extract features and learn the pattern of the distribution of these features in the presence of the disease. The results are obtained based on the accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for comparison purposes. According to the results, the best candidate is VGG-19, which demonstrates accuracy at the level of 98.54%, while the precision of 98.80%, recall of 98.50%, F1 score of 98.65%, and AUC-ROC of 99.00% are also high. The confusion matrices provide details from which the correct classification for VGG-19 of healthy and diseased leaves becomes evident. The real-time implementation of VGG-19 is completely reliable. The applied deep learning models provide numerous benefits in predicting the diseases in plants, and the usage of computational techniques will ensure food security and opportunities for current development. © 2024 IEEE.

Adaptive resonance theory ARTI neural network (unsupervised learning) is being implemented for the classification of feature values with the objective of carrying out a comparative study with the performance of other technique including multi-layer feed forward network transform (supervised learning). A neural network is applied for the detection/identification of melanoma skin cancer. The images were collected from melanoma database is first processed and some distinguishable features were extracted by a MATLAB GUI. Two classes of the images were used: (a) benign, (b) malignant. A collection of interpreted binary input data, which is digitized from analog data after normalization is, then clustered adaptively with neural network ART-1. The goal of the project is to classify the feature dataset using supervised and unsupervised neural networks. To collect the feature set 1 implemented MATLAB image processing toolbox to create my own MATLAB functions. I created my own ARTI codes in MATLAB 701 (AKTI) to analysis which features are giving better efficiency using different vigilance parameter. Along with these supervised and unsupervised classification and pattern recognition, I am also trying to classify my own data-set of extracted features on Weka machine learning benchmarking software which is nothing but implements machine learning algorithms in JAVA. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The whole world is focusing their attention and efforts on the creation of alternative energy sources in the present because the amount of energy produced by fossil fuels is rapidly decreasing. This is due to the rapidly decreasing availability of fossil fuels. One of the alternative energy sources with the most potential is referred to as 'renewable energy.' Vehicles use more than 25 percent of the energy generated from fossil fuels for their own needs. As a direct result of the depletion of fossil fuels, the costs associated with maintaining a vehicle have skyrocketed and are now at an all-time high. Apart from this, excessive use of fossil fuels is also polluting the environment around the area to a great extent. As a potential solution to this issue, people from all over the world are currently showing a significant amount of interest in electric vehicles. Most electric vehicles are equipped with BLDC motors. A BLDC motor, in its most basic form, is characterised by its compact dimensions, high speed, high efficiency, noiseless operation, and high dynamic response. However, when the BLDC motor is operated at a variable speed, some noise or ripple is produced within it, and at the same time, it is unable to function in a smooth manner. A hybrid control technique has been proposed in this paper for controlling the BLDC motor speed in electric vehicle applications. Using hybrid fuzzy-PI based speed control techniques, we can control the BLDC motor's speed without affecting its performance, as well as reduce its noise and ripple. This method is also improving the overall performance and efficiency of BLDC motors in electric vehicle applications. For charging the EV battery, we used solar energy, batteries, and a supercapacitor-based DC microgrid with grid-connected infrastructure to improve the overall reliability of the systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Heteroatom doping has emerged as a prevailing strategy to enhance the storage of sodium ions in carbon ***,the underlying mechanism governing the performance enhancement remains ***,we fabricated N/S co-doped carbon beaded fibers(S-N-CBFs),which exhibited glorious rate performance and durableness in Na+storage,showcasing no obvious capacity decay even after 3500 ***,when used as anodes in sodium-ion capacitors,the S-N-CBFs delivered exceptional results,boasting a high energy density of 225 Wh·kg^(-1),superior power output of 22500 W·kg^(-1),and outstanding cycling stability with a capacity attenuation of merely 0.014%per cycle after 4000 cycles at 2 A·g^(-1).Mechanistic investigations revealed that the incorporation of both pyridinic N and pyrrolic N into the carbon matrix of S-N-CBFs induced internal electric fields(IEFs),with the former IEF being stronger than the latter,in conjunction with the doped S *** functional theory calculations further unveiled that the intensity of the IEF directly influenced the adsorption of Na+,thereby resulting in the exceptional performances of S-N-CBFs as sodium-ion storage *** work uncovers the pivotal role of IEF in regulating the electronic structure of carbon materials and enhancing their Na^(+)storage capabilities,providing valuable insights for the development of more advanced electrode materials.

A multi-channel atmospheric corrosion monitor (ACM) has been developed, which can be used for corrosion evaluation in different atmospheric environments and is simple in structure, easy to operate and easy to mass produce. The device is capable of real-time collection of long-term corrosion data with high repeatability, and it can record the temperature, humidity, ultraviolet intensity and sulfur dioxide concentration of the atmospheric environment in real time. By comparing the measurements of probe elements with thicknesses of 0.5 and 2 mm, it was determined that the 0.5-mm probe element has a higher sensitivity and shorter response time;by analyzing environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, ultraviolet intensity and sulfur dioxide concentration, it was determined that temperature and humidity play a major role in the atmospheric corrosion process. The results show that the device can be used to evaluate the corrosion of 20# steel in atmospheric environments with a resolution of up to 0.05 µm for thickness variations. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ore is crucial source of medium and heavy rare earths,with in-situ leaching being the most common mining *** high contents of impurity of aluminum in the leach solution are a significant challenge for the subsequent enrichment process of rare earths.A comprehensive understanding of the occurrences and vertical distribution of aluminum and rare earths within typical vertical profiles can provide valuable insights into entire design of the in-situ *** paper improves a five-step sequential extraction method to analyze the occurrence and vertical distribution of rare earths and aluminum in vertical profiles from Chongzuo and *** results demonstrate that soil solution pH is the main factor affecting the vertical distribution of ionexchangeable rare *** samples have distinct areas of enrichment for ion-exchangeable rare earths or ***-exchangeable rare earths are primary concentrated in the middle and lower parts of the ore layer(4-13 m in Chongzuo,14-22 m in Longyan),while the ion-exchangeable aluminum is mainly enriched in the upper part of the ore layer(1-5 m in Chongzuo,and 2-14 m in Longyan).The vertical distribution of inorganic hydroxy aluminum is likely influenced by the micromorphology and particle size of the clay *** inorganic hydroxy aluminum concentration in Chongzuo samples decreases continuously from 415.65 to 120.95 mg/kg with increasing sampling depth,whereas the concentration in Longyan samples(110.55-171.27 mg/kg)is almost independence with sampling *** results provide direct guidance for the entire design of the injection well depth and the leaching parameters,thereby inhibiting the leaching of impurity of aluminum and lower the consumption of leaching agent.
