In this work, field-emission-limited diodes (FELds) are investigated. The field emission process is described quantum-mechanically by the Fowler-Nordheim equation. The cathode plasma and surface properties are considered within the framework of the effective work function approximation. Space charge effects are described by Poisson's equation.

In recent years, increasing demand for computing has led to the development of computational grid. Typically scheduling challenges tend to be NP-hard problems where there is no optimal solution. The research reported here therefore is focused on the development of hybrids scheduling algorithms based on deadline and slack time parameters and its variations, using the concept of optimization techniques. An extensive performance comparison has been presented using real workload traces as benchmark on a grid computational environment. The results were compared with some baseline scheduling approaches in extant literature. The results have shown that the performances of grid scheduling algorithms developed and reported in this paper give good results in most of the cases and also support true scalability, when in the scenario of increasing workload and number of processors on a computational grid environment.

Testing semilocal chiral two-nucleon interaction in selected electroweak processes

The recently developed semilocal improved chiral nucleon-nucleon interaction is used for the first time to study several electromagnetic and weak processes at energies below the pion production threshold. Cross sections and selected polarization observables for deuteron photodisintegration, nucleon-deuteron radiative capture, three-body He3 photodisintegration, as well as capture rates for decays of the muonic H2 and He3 atoms are calculated. The Lippmann-Schwinger and Faddeev equations in momentum space are solved to obtain nuclear states. The electromagnetic current operator is taken as a single nucleon current supplemented by many-body contributions induced via the Siegert theorem. For muon capture processes the nonrelativistic weak current together with the dominant relativistic corrections is used. Our results compare well with experimental data, demonstrating the same quality as is observed for the semiphenomenological Argonne V18 potential. Compared to the older version of the chiral potential with a nonlocal regularization, a much smaller cut-off dependence is found for the state-of-art chiral local interaction employed in this paper. Finally, estimates of errors due to the truncation of the chiral expansion are given.

A WL-SPPIM semantic model for document classification

—In this paper, we explore SPPIM-based text classification method, and the experiment reveals that the SPPIM method is equal to or even superior than SGNS method in text classification task on three international and standard text datasets, namely 20newsgroups, reuters52 and WebKB. Comparing to SGNS, although SPPMI provides a better solution, it is not necessarily better than SGNS in text classification tasks.. Based on our analysis, SGNS takes into the consideration of weight calculation during decomposition process, so it has better performance than SPPIM in some standard datasets. Inspired by this, we propose a WL-SPPIM semantic model based on SPPIM model, and experiment shows that WL-SPPIM approach has better classification and higher scalability in the text classification task compared with LdA, SGNS and SPPIM approaches. Hybrid adaptive fuzzy extreme learning machine for text classification

In traditional ELM and its improved versions suffer from the problems of outliers or noises due to overfitting and imbalance due to distribution. We propose a novel hybrid adaptive fuzzy ELM(HA-FELM), which introduces a fuzzy membership function to the traditional ELM method to deal with the above problems. We define the fuzzy membership function not only basing on the distance between each sample and the center of the class but also the density among samples which based on the quantum harmonic oscillator model. The proposed fuzzy membership function overcomes the shortcoming of the traditional fuzzy membership function and could make itself adjusted according to the specific distribution of different samples adaptively. Experiments show the proposed HA-FELM can produce better performance than SVM, ELM, and rELM in text classification. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Intellectual property information service industry has obtained swift and dramatic development in recent years. However, the majority of intellectual property agencies are small or medium size enterprises which are small-scale, less funding and tech-support, scattered layout, and have strong demands. Cloud-computing as an emerging technology presents significance for small and medium-sized enterprises of intellectual property service industry. A business hosting cloud described in this paper is designed for the business consumers referred above. At first, this paper will present the current situation of intellectual property service, and a business hosting cloud platform faced to the intellectual property industry will be proposed. In the second part, this paper will describe the architecture of the business hosting cloud which is mainly composed of the business hosting platform and the management test platform. In previous work, the project team did a lot of research on virtualization technology of devices, and a uniform resource pool of this cloud-platform will be detailed as well as the distributed object storage and the elastic block storage that is used for effcient data access. At last, this paper will present related functions of the uniform resource pool, the distributed object storage, the elastic block storage, and the management test platform described in the second part.

An improved Quiet direct Simulation method for Eulerian fluids using a second-order scheme

In this paper, a second-order scheme for the Quiet direct Simulation (QdS) of Eulerian fluids is proposed. The QdS method replaces the random sampling method used in direct Simulation Monte Carlo (dSMC) methods with a technique whereby particles are moved, have their properties distributed onto a mesh, are destroyed and then are recreated deterministically from the properties stored on the mesh using Gauss-Hermite quadrature weights and abscissas. Particles are permitted to move in physically realistic directions so flux exchange is not limited to cells sharing an adjacent interface as in conventional, direction decoupled finite volume solvers. In this paper the method is extended by calculating the fluxes of mass, momentum and energy between cells assuming a linear variation of density, temperature and velocity in each cell and using these fluxes to update the mass, velocity and internal energy carried by each particle. This Euler solver has several advantages including large dynamic range, no statistical scatter in the results, true direction fluxes to all nearby neighbors and is computationally inexpensive. The second-order method is found to reduce the numerical diffusion of QdS as demonstrated in several verification studies. These include unsteady shock tube flow, a two-dimensional blast wave and of the development of Mach 3 flow over a forward facing step in a wind tunnel, which are compared with previous results from the literature wherever is possible. Finally the implementation of QUIETWAVE, a rapid method of simulating blast events in urban environments, is introduced and the results of a test case are presented. © 2008 Elsevier Inc. Precision Nucleon-Nucleon Potential at Fifth Order in the Chiral Expansion

We present a nucleon-nucleon potential at fifth order in chiral effective field theory. We find a substantial improvement in the description of nucleon-nucleon phase shifts as compared to the fourth-order results utilizing a coordinate-space regularization. This provides clear evidence of the corresponding two-pion exchange contributions with all low-energy constants being determined from pion-nucleon scattering. The fifth-order corrections to nucleon-nucleon observables appear to be of a natural size, which confirms the good convergence of the chiral expansion for nuclear forces. Furthermore, the obtained results provide strong support for the novel way of quantifying the theoretical uncertainty due to the truncation of the chiral expansion proposed by the authors. Our work opens up new perspectives for precision ab initio calculations in few- and many-nucleon systems and is especially relevant for ongoing efforts towards a quantitative understanding of the structure of the three-nucleon force in the framework of chiral effective field theory.
