Cross-Chain is an emerging technology to enable transaction circulation across different blockchain systems, breaking down transaction isolation among decentralized ecosystems. Existing cross-chain solutions are often constructed based on centralized trusted third parties, which introduce additional threats to users’ identities due to potentially compromised risks on the centralized third parties. To exclude the single-point compromised risk in centralized systems, this paper focuses on a fully decentralized scenario and develops a distributed cross-chain transaction scheme, which enables cross-chain transaction exchanges while ensuring the unlinkability between payees and payers. Specifically, we first propose a cross-chain cryptocurrency exchange scheme by leveraging Ethereum’s smart contracts, which achieves transaction exchanges in decentralized settings. Then, we leverage zero-knowledge succinct non-interactive argument of knowledge (i.e., zk-SNARKs) to explore a privacy-preserving method for cross-chain transactions in account-model blockchain systems, such that the unlinkability between payees and payers and the privacy of cross-chain participants can be guaranteed. Security analysis and experimental evaluations demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves the security goal at acceptable costs.

Deepfake Detection: A Comprehensive Survey from the Reliability Perspective

The mushroomed Deepfake synthetic materials circulated on the internet have raised a profound social impact on politicians, celebrities, and individuals worldwide. In this survey, we provide a thorough review of the existing Deepfake detection studies from the reliability perspective. We identify three reliability-oriented research challenges in the current Deepfake detection domain: transferability, interpretability, and robustness. Moreover, while solutions have been frequently addressed regarding the three challenges, the general reliability of a detection model has been barely considered, leading to the lack of reliable evidence in real-life usages and even for prosecutions on Deepfake-related cases in court. We, therefore, introduce a model reliability study metric using statistical random sampling knowledge and the publicly available benchmark datasets to review the reliability of the existing detection models on arbitrary Deepfake candidate suspects. Case studies are further executed to justify the real-life Deepfake cases including different groups of victims with the help of the reliably qualified detection models as reviewed in this survey. Reviews and experiments on the existing approaches provide informative discussions and future research directions for Deepfake detection. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

information technology (IT) plays an important role in the education field, with ubiquitous computing technology the ubiquitous learning (U-learning) is now a practical possibility. Cloud computing can offer many benefits to the learning field, as it provides all resources such as software (SaaS), platforms (PaaS), and infrastructure (IaaS) as a service. The multi-agent systems approach is an excellent way to implement flexible systems whose structure evolves dynamically. Based on the discussion of the benefits of cloud computing and the multi-agent systems approach to support adaptive and personalized learning content, the paper presents a hybrid approach based on cloud computing that uses the multi-tenant architecture where tenants share the system software. Multi-agent system is used in this approach to support a ubiquitous learning system. A multi-tenant SaaS application addresses the unique requirements of each tenant by enabling customization at the tenant level with the adoption of the concept of virtualization (virtual machines). This paper explores the challenges of achieving performance isolation in the context of multi-tenant SaaS applications. As an output of this study, U-learning on the cloud-based multi-agent system architecture has been proposed. To achieve lower cost of resources and server allocation and provide isolation among learners in the ubiquitous learning environment.

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) and ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) technologies are recognized for their programmability and high energy efficiency respectively, which will be the key parts of the future sixth generation (6G) mobile communication technology. The combination of the two technologies can improve communication security by reducing the probability of detection and decoding through enhanced transmission and backscatter transmission in different communication slots. In this paper, a dual-function RIS that supports cooperative relaying for covert communications is proposed. It operates in different communication slots (enhanced transmission slot and backscatter slot), but the performance is affected by phase errors due to function switching. A source covertly communicates with an intended destination via the help of RIS and cooperative relay. There is an illegal monitor aims to detect and eavesdrop the covert message. For this system, the outage probability (OP), intercept probability (IP), and detection error probability (DEP) in different communication slots are derived to examine the system reliability and security. Moreover, the system security probability (SSP) is proposed, and a block coordinated ascent (BCA)-based iterative algorithm is used to jointly optimize the power allocation coefficients to maximize the SSP. Simulation results show that increasing the number of elements can improve the security performance and mitigate the negative impact of RIS phase errors. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Imagined speech production with electrocorticography (ECoG) plays a crucial role in brain-computer interface system. A challenging issue is the great variation underlying the frequency bands of the ECoG signals’ encode information, which makes current methods difficult to generate imagined speech with stable quality among different persons. To this end, we propose a robust model to generate high-quality imagined speech from ECoG. A frequency enhancement branch is first designed to adaptively modulate the frequency information, whose product is fed into the following multi-scale channel attention module for robust feature extraction and fusion. By incorporating both the mel-spectrum and audio as training constraints, a multi-constraint decoder branch is finally constructed for imagined speech production. The performance of our model is evaluated on a high-quality dateset, i.e, Single Word Production Dutch-iBIDS. It yields Pearson correlation scores that are all above 0.8, and the standard deviationsare are all below 0.2 in different volunteers. Experimental results demonstrate that our model is effective and robust for ECoG based imagined speech production, and has advantages over peer methods.

We propose an Ekblom promoting adaptive algorithm (EPAA) which uses Ekblom norm to construct a data reusing scheme to achieve better performance under impulsive noise (IN) environments. By exerting Ekblom-norm constraint on the a posterior error vector, a sliding window cost function is created to realize the EPAA that is derived to reduce IN effects. The derivation and theoretical convergence analysis of the EPAA are presented in detail. The simulation examples are setup to illustrate the superior performance of the EPAA compared to popular data reusing algorithms for system identification under IN environments. © 2022, CC BY.

Groundbreaking applications such as ChatGPT have heightened research interest in generative artificial intelligence (GAI). Essentially, GAI excels not only in content generation but also signal processing, offering support for wireless sensing. Hence, we introduce a novel GAI-assisted human flow detection system (G-HFD). Rigorously, G-HFD first uses the channel state information (CSI) to estimate the velocity and acceleration of propagation path length change of the human induced reflection (HIR). Then, given the strong inference ability of the diffusion model, we propose a unified weighted conditional diffusion model (UW-CDM) to denoise the estimation results, enabling detection of the number of targets. Next, we use the CSI obtained by a uniform linear array with wavelength spacing to estimate the HIR’s time of flight and direction of arrival (DoA). In this process, UW-CDM solves the problem of ambiguous DoA spectrum, ensuring accurate DoA estimation. Finally, through clustering, G-HFD determines the number of subflows and the number of targets in each subflow, i.e., the subflow size. The evaluation based on practical downlink communication signals shows G-HFD’s accuracy of subflow size detection can reach 91%. This validates its effectiveness and underscores the significant potential of GAI in the context of wireless sensing. © 2024, CC BY.

Tissue samples (10 samples of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of nose, 10 specimens of adenocarcinoma prostate, 12 of ovary, 12 of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) of kidney, and 14 samples of breast cancer) were received in paraffin-embedded blocks, stained with H&E and investigated using a high-resolution microscope. The BCC of the skin showed tumor nests, necrosis, cytological atypia, and abnormal cell to nuclei ratio, and the nodular type and Breslow thickness is 3.0 cm. For prostate cancer, Gleason’s grade is 4+4 and the obtained score is 8/10. Its grade group is 4. In ovary cancer, the squamous discrepancy is very usual. Some alternates are present like mucin rich and secretory, small cells with scanty cytoplasm settled in fragments, violent tumors, and cystic and solid areas in addition to hemorrhage and necrosis. In RCC, tumor cells have sharply outlined cell boundaries and the cytoplasm ranges from optically clear to deeply granular. Tubular, papillary, and cystic formation and abundant glycogen, abnormal mitotic activity with debris all over the tissue sample is seen. The breast tumor showed a grey-white solid area, with 10 lymph nodes identified in the axilla. The specimen is of the type right mastectomy with axillary clearance and the tumor types are invasive ductal cell carcinoma having grade 2 and lobular carcinoma. Resected margins are free of tumor. Axillary lymph node 3/10 shows metastatic carcinoma. ©2025 Old City Publishing, Inc.

Dynamic Dense Graph Convolutional Network for Skeleton-based Human Motion Prediction

Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) which typically follows a neural message passing framework to model dependencies among skeletal joints has achieved high success in skeleton-based human motion prediction task. Nevertheless, how to construct a graph from a skeleton sequence and how to perform message passing on the graph are still open problems, which severely affect the performance of GCN. To solve both problems, this paper presents a Dynamic Dense Graph Convolutional Network (DD-GCN), which constructs a dense graph and implements an integrated dynamic message passing. More specifically, we construct a dense graph with 4D adjacency modeling as a comprehensive representation of motion sequence at different levels of abstraction. Based on the dense graph, we propose a dynamic message passing framework that learns dynamically from data to generate distinctive messages reflecting sample-specific relevance among nodes in the graph. Extensive experiments on benchmark Human 3.6M and CMU Mocap datasets verify the effectiveness of our DD-GCN which obviously outperforms state-of-the-art GCN-based methods, especially when using long-term and our proposed extremely long-term protocol. This paper presents a cache-aided time-domain power allocation (CaTDPA) for 5G high-speed railway communications (HSRC), where two kinds of users, online interactive application users (OIUs) and online non-interactive application users (ONIUs), are jointly taken into account. For OIUs, their minimum ground-train data rate demand is guaranteed. For ONIUs, their minimum cache-releasing data rate demand is guaranteed. To achieve the green HSRC design, an optimization problem is formulated to maximize the system energy efficiency (EE) by jointly optimizing the power allocation (PA) and cache releasing start time (CRST) subject to the constraints of total available energy, maximum transmit power, ONIUs’ ground-train data rate threshold, ONIUs’ cache-releasing data rate threshold, and causality of CRST. To address such a non-convex and fractional problem, a two-step solution is designed. First, with a given CRST, a Dinkelbach-based method is applied to obtain the correspondingly optimal PA. Second, the one-dimensional traversal method is used to find the optimal CRST. Experimental results show that our proposed CaTDPA achieves the maximum EE among multiple compared methods while meeting the requirements of OIUs and ONIUs. Moreover, EE will decrease as the OIUs’ ground-train data rate threshold and the train’s moving speed increase, while it is observed that the ONIUs’ cache-releasing data rate threshold has a relatively small effect on the EE of HSRC.
