Directional regulation of 2H-MoS2 to produce 1T-MoS2 and its application

MoS2 has drawn significant attention in the field of electricity, energy and catalysis due to their unique two-dimensional "sandwiched " layered structure. MoS2 mainly exists in the form of 1T-MoS2 and 2H-MoS2 because the different coordination modes of Mo with S atoms. In general, 1T-MoS2 possesses a larger interlayer spacing and more catalytically active sites, and shows better performance than 2H-MoS2 in many fields. 1T-MoS2 can be synthesized via regulating the lateral displacement of the S-plane in 2H-MoS2 and the electron filling state of the Mo 3d orbital. The research progress of the preparation of 1T-MoS2 from 2H-MoS2 by direct regulation is reviewed. The main factors affecting the regulation process and the corresponding regulation methods and mechanisms are described in detail. At the same time, the application of 1T-MoS2 in hydrogen evolution, battery, photo and thermal catalysis is summarized. 3D surface measurement of human abdomen by fourier fringe analysis and chinese remainder theorem

Aiming at the breathing movement of the human abdominal surface during surgical treatment or radiation therapy, the three-dimensional (3D) dynamic measurement method was studied. This paper proposes a dynamic three-dimensional measurement method based on a 3D Fourier transform to obtain the wrapped phase and unwrap using the Chinese remainder theorem (CRT) to obtain the absolute phase. The three primary colors are used to compile the coding pattern, and the three-dimensional inverse Fourier transform is used to obtain the wrapped phase information. By increasing the time-dimensional filtering, the ringing effect is reduced, and the accuracy of the wrapped phase extraction is improved. When there is no interference, the root means square error does not exceed 0.006 rad, and the peak-to-valley error does not exceed 0.016 rad. Its fault tolerance ability is higher than the two-dimensional Fourier fringe analysis and three-dimensional Fourier fringe with other filters on the abdomen surface. A new method based on CRT is used to unwrap the wrapped phase. Under the limited conditions, the error of the absolute phase does not exceed the error of the wrapped phase. The simulation and actual measurement results show that the method in this paper can realize the 3D dynamic measurements of the human abdominal surface. © 2020 Totem Publisher, Inc. Highly Efficient Degradation of Carbamazepine by Activating Peroxymonosulfate with Lithium Cobaltite Cathode Powders Recovered from Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries

It is critical to maximize the reuse of spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their significant impact on the economy, society, and environment. In this study, lithium cobaltite (LCO) cathode powders, recovered from spent LIBs, were used as a metallic catalyst to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for carbamazepine (CBZ) degradation. Results revealed that the recovered LCO enables a 99.8% removal efficiency of CBZ (2.5 mg L −1 ) within 1 min due to the rapid electron-transfer rate. Furthermore, recovered LCO exhibited good stability and reusability. Besides, the influence of key factors (such as initial pH, PMS, and catalyst dosage), as well as coexisting anions (such as SO 4 2− , H 2 PO 4 − , NO 3 − , Cl − , and HCO 3 − ), on CBZ degradation were examined in detail. The recovered LCO exhibited excellent catalytic activities in PMS activation at a broader pH range (PH=5.0–11.0). Scavenging experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) demonstrated that 1 O 2 , SO 4 . - , and ⋅OH were the primary radical species in the reaction process. By using XPS and electrochemical analysis, the mechanism of PMS activation indicated that radical species were generated through the valence change of Co in recovered LCO. Finally, the CBZ degradation pathways were presented based on the identified intermediates. This research has offered a new strategy of "treating wastes with wastes" to maximize the recycle of e-wastes to remove emerging pollutants. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Heart sound acquisition with ECM sensor array and array data fusion algorithm

In this paper, a sensor array using small ECM sensors is proposed to construct a lightweight heart sound pickup device, and a data processing unit combining FPGA and MCU is established to interface with the sensor array and perform multiple sensor data processing jobs. By studying this sensor array and data processing unit, a possible method of designing a small-size, low-cost heart sound recorder is presented. The prototype device combining the sensor array and data processing unit running with the array data fusion algorithm gives the following result: the background noise level of heart sounds processed by the data processing unit is 2 dB lower than that of any single sensor output in the sensor array. Also, a comparison between the heart sounds recorded by the prototype device and those recorded by a dedicated heart sound sensor is made, showing that the prototype device is capable of recording heart sounds with more details. The sensor array and data processing unit is suitable for achieving compact and lightweight heart sound acquisition. © 2020 Totem Publisher, Inc. All rights reserved.

Study on establishment of standardized load spectrum on bogie frames of high-speed trains

Establishing structural load spectrum under actual operating conditions is a major problem in structural fatigue life analysis. This study introduces the load measuring method for the bogie frame structure. The load-measuring frame based on quasi-static can measure different load systems synchronously. The t-test method is employed to evaluate the least test time of deducing the parent distribution. In order to fit the load spectrum distribution accurately, the kernel density estimation method is employed which is based on the sample characteristics. The expansion factor method is used to deduce the maximum load. The formula of standardized load spectrum derives from the deduced maximum load, the linear factor between operating condition length and cumulative frequency and the parent distribution of each load system. The damage consistency criterion is performed by solving the objective function with constraint conditions. The calibrated damage provides a suitable representation of the real damage under actual operating conditions. By processing and analyzing the load spectrum and stress spectrum data of the measured lines, it is verified that the standardized load spectrum established in this paper is superior to the European specification and the Japanese specification in evaluating the fatigue reliability of the structure.

Oxygen vacancies can be used as adsorption-activation sites for reactants. In the current research on thermal catalytic oxidation, one of the most important issues is the further regulation and design of superior CeO2 catalysts with abundant oxygen vacancies. Herein, this study reveals a crystallization-inducing strategy to manipulate the exposed morphology, crystal planes, and crystal boundary of CeO2 catalysts by adding styrene at the synthesis stage. The characterization results demonstrate that the induced activation of styrene can lead to the formation of abundant Ce-Ce crystal boundaries with rich oxygen vacancies in CeO2-C8H8 catalysts. Among the synthesized induced CeO2-C8H8 catalysts, the short bar-like CeO2-C8H8-130-24 catalyst presented better catalytic activity for styrene oxidation. Moreover, it is found that such a morphological and crystal boundary structure evolution can improve the durability of CeO2-C8H8-130-24. This study provides a novel strategy for modulating the concentration of oxygen vacancies in CeO2 catalysts. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Image recognition and classification based on elastic model and BOF algorithm

To solve the problems of mosaic effect and block distortion in the process of image enlargement or reduction, which decrease the accuracy of image recognition and classification, a new fusion algorithm is proposed in this paper. It is a method that integrates an elastic model with the BOF algorithm. Firstly, the distortion phenomenon of static images is studied in depth. Then, the basic principle of the classical BOF algorithm is studied. At the same time, the method and steps of generating feature descriptors using the BOF algorithm are deeply analyzed, and the clustering of feature elements is realized by using the spatial pyramid method. Aiming at the problem of low classification accuracy of scaled images with block distortion, an elastic model method is proposed. It introduces elasticity parameters to scaled image processing and combines the new features obtained by the BOF algorithm to further compensate the block distortion, so as to improve the image recognition accuracy. © 2019 Totem Publisher, Inc. Developing highly anti-interference and nonmetallic peroxymonosulfate (PMS) based advanced oxidation systems is of great importance to remove the persistent contaminants. Herein, the modified biochar (MBC) by Na2CO3 was successfully prepared via ball milling and pyrolysis treatments. Characterization results showed that the MBC had better-developed porosity, richer C[dbnd]O content, higher defective degree, and lower charge-transfer resistance than the original biochar. The performance of CBZ removal by the MBC was systematically investigated in terms of biochar dosage, PMS concentration, pH, and water matrixes. 0.1 g/L MBC could firstly adsorb 44 % of CBZ (2.5 mg/L) within 20 min and then completely remove CBZ within 40 min in the presence 2.0 mM of PMS. A nonradical process of CBZ degradation dominated by 1O2 and electron transfer was identified via quenching experiments, electron paramagnetic resonance spectra, and electrochemical characterizations. Consequently, the MBC/PMS system could realize a high CBZ degradation in a wide pH range (3.0 −11.0), exhibit strong water matrixes tolerance, and display excellent performance in the real environmental water systems. Furthermore, the removal rate of CBZ could still reach 90 % after five reuses. Overall, this study developed an efficient metal-free biochar catalyst that demonstrates exceptional adaptability, stability, and reusability for removing emerging contaminants in environmental remediation applications. © 2025 The Institution of Chemical Engineers

Developing cost-effective and efficient catalysts remains a significant challenge in the treatment of phenolic wastewater. In this study, Fe/C catalysts were synthesized through a pretreatment-pyrolysis method using ammonia solution and cold-rolled sludge as raw materials. Among the catalysts tested, the N₅FC-600 exhibited superior performance. Experimental results showed that the N₅FC-600/PDS system achieved complete phenol removal within 30 min, with a total organic carbon (TOC) removal efficiency of 80.7 %. Furthermore, the N₅FC-600 catalyst significantly reduced ferric ion leaching by 65 % compared to the FC-600 catalyst. The effects of various operational parameters—including temperature, pH, catalyst dosage, and the presence of inorganic ions—on phenol degradation were systematically evaluated. The oxidation of phenol primarily occurred on the surface of the catalyst or within its boundary layer. Notably, the N₅FC-600 catalyst created an acidic microenvironment, which extended its effective pH range. Mechanistic insights obtained from free radical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analyses indicated that the N₅FC-600/PDS/phenol system operates through both radical (•OH, O₂^•− and SO₄^•−) and non-radical (¹O₂ and electron transfer) pathways. Further degradation pathways were elucidated using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). These findings underscore the dual-pathway mechanism of the N₅FC-600 catalyst and highlight its potential for effective and versatile environmental applications. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

A novel color encoding fringe projection profilometry based on wavelet ridge technology and phase-crossing

There are two challenges in three-dimensional (3D) profilometry, such as real-time and accuracy. Color-encoding fringe projection profilometry (CEFPP) can solve these challenges to some extent. It encodes in the red, green, and blue color channels, and CEFP can use three completely different fringe patterns. In this paper, a novel CEFP that only uses one color fringe image acquired by experiential 3CCD cameras is presented. First, the wavelet transform coefficients phase at the ridge position under the Morlet wavelet is theoretically clarified. A simple and quick method that acquires the scaling coefficient is introduced. The wrapped phases in the three color channels of the color fringe image are obtained by wavelet bridge position. The phase original of color fringe pattern is defined as one white color. Using an evolution function defined in this paper, the phase-crossing is located. An absolute phase is acquired by a three coding pitch method in a two coding direction. In order to verify the presented method, some profilometry experiments are carried out in the constructed 3D profilometry system using one projector and one 3CCD camera. The experimental results showed that a maximum standard deviation of measurement error is 1.42mm, and the reconstruction surface of a gypsum head portrait can be determined. © 2018 Totem Publisher, Inc.
