Passively Q-Switched Tm: YAP Laser with a WSe2 Saturable Absorber

In this paper, WSe2 nanosheets were prepared and demonstrated to have non-linear absorption characteristics that were saturated at about 2 μm. A passively Q-swithched (PQS) Tm:YAP laser was perfectly implemented with the Wse2 nanosheets as a saturable absorber (SA). In PQS mode, an average output power of 1.01 W with a pulse duration of 1.7 μs at 166.7 kHz was achieved with a pump power of 12.1 W, corresponding to an optical-optical conversion efficiency of 8.3%. A peak power of 3.88 W was acquired from a PQS Tm: YAP laser.

The active/passive Q-switching operation of a 2 [tm a-cut Tm,Ho：YAP laser was experimentally demonstrated with an acousto-optical Q-switch/MoS2 saturable absorber mirror. The active Q-switch laser was operated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, with an average output power of 12.3 W and a maximum pulse energy of 10.3 mJ. The passive Q-switch laser was also the first acquired with an average output power of 3.3 W and per pulse energy of 23.31 μJ, and the beam quality factors of Mx^2 = 1.06 and My^2 = 1.06 were measured at the average output power of 2 W.

Background: As a kind of bionic robot, horizontal lower limb rehabilitation robot integrates the medical technology and robot technology. It can simulate the movements of human lower limbs. It can be mainly used for rehabilitation training of patients with lower limb dysfunction. Objective: To provide a general summarization of recent horizontal lower limb rehabilitation robot and introduce their respective characteristics and development. Method: This paper summarizes various representative patents related to horizontal lower limb rehabilitation robot. The structural characteristics, applications of the typical horizontal lower limb rehabilitation robots are represented. Results: The differences of all kinds of horizontal lower limb rehabilitation robots are compared and analyzed, and the structural characteristics are concluded. The main problems in its development are analyzed, the development trend is foreseen, and the current and future research of the patents on horizontal lower limb rehabilitation robot is discussed. Conclusion: Horizontal lower limb rehabilitation robot has important practical significance for promoting social harmony, and plays an important role in improving the ability of independent survival of patient. Further improvements are needed in the aspects of reliability, comfortable capability, interesting, intelligence and security of the horizontal lower limb rehabilitation robot. More patents on horizontal lower limb rehabilitation robot should be invented. © 2017 Bentham Science Publishers.

Background: Lower limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robot is a bionic robot, which is the product of the combination of medical technology and robot technology, simulating human walking movement. It can be mainly used for rehabilitation training of patients with lower limb dysfunction. Objective: To provide an overview of recent lower limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robot and introduce their respective characteristics and development. Method: A recent lower limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robot is divided into passive drive, pneumatic drive, hydraulic drive and motor drive. This paper reviews various representative patents related to lower limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robot. The structural characteristics and applications of the typical lower limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robots are introduced. Results: The differences between different types of lower limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robots are compared and analyzed, and the structural characteristics are concluded. The main problems in its development are analyzed, the development trend is foreseen, and the current and future research of the patents on lower limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robot is discussed. Conclusion: There are a lot of patents and articles about the exoskeleton rehabilitation robots, however, if these problems can be solved, such as small size, light weight and high power output are solved at the same time, the consistency with human body will be advanced, with the combination of traditional rehabilitation medicine. It will be possible to maximize the rehabilitation of the lower limbs. © 2017 Bentham Science Publishers.

Application of passive self-ligating brackets in orthodontic treatment

Background: Malocclusion is a common oral disease. Wearing the lingual or labial straight archwire appliance is an effective treatment method. For the traditional appliance, the bracket is a non self-ligating structure. Orthodontic archwire is fixed by the ligature, so the ligation and removal operation is time-consuming. And the end of the ligation wire may be easy to scratch the oral cavity and the aggregation bacteria. With the continuous development of orthodontic technique, the self-ligating bracket is the development direction for future clinical orthodontic treatment, and has become an advanced research hotspot. Objective: To provide an overview of recent passive self-ligating brackets, and introduce their respective characteristics and development. Method: The recent typical brackets are divided into passive self-ligating bracket, active self-ligating bracket and interactive self-ligating bracket. This paper reviews various representative patents related to passive self-ligating bracket. The structural characteristics and applications of the typical passive selfligating bracket are introduced. Results: The differences of different types of passive self-ligating bracket are compared and analyzed, and the structural characteristics are concluded. The main problems in its development are analyzed, the development trend is foreseen, and the current and future research of the patents on passive self-ligating bracket is discussed. The passive self-ligating bracket, because of its small friction, gentle orthodontic force, discomfort reduction, chair time reduction and excellent oral hygiene maintenance, is recognized and applied by more and more orthodontic doctors. Conclusion: The passive self-ligating bracket has important practical significance. And further improvements are needed in the aspects of structure, cost, use and reliability, bracket base failure of the passive self-ligating bracket, and detachment of locking system from bracket’s main structure. This paper studies the event-triggered resilient filtering problem for a class of nonlinear systems with randomly occurring nonlinearity and missing measurements. Both the phenomena of the randomly occurring nonlinearity and the missing measurements are described by Bernoulli distributed random variables, where the occurrence probabilities could be uncertain. The event-triggered communication mechanism is introduced to save the network bandwidth during the data transmissions through the network. Additionally, the filter gain perturbations are characterized by employing the norm bounded uncertainties. The aim of the paper is to develop a robust event-triggered resilient filtering algorithm against the randomly occurring nonlinearity and missing measurements. Note that the analytical expressions of the filtering error covariance cannot be computed directly. Consequently, we derive its upper bound as an alternative way and subsequently minimize such an upper bound by properly designing the filter gain at each time step. Finally, an illustrative example is presented to show the effectiveness of the provided filtering algorithm.

Bayesian Saliency Detection for RGB-D Images

In this paper, we propose a saliency detection model for RGB-D images based on the contrasting features of color and depth within a Bayesian framework. The depth feature map is extracted based on superpixel contrast computation with spatial priors. We model the depth saliency map by approximating the density of depth-based contrast features using a Gaussian distribution. Similar to the depth saliency computation, the color saliency map is computed using a Gaussian distribution based on multi-scale contrasts in superpixels by exploiting low-level cues. By assuming that color- and depth-based contrast features are conditionally independent, given the classes, a discriminative mixed-membership naive Bayes （DMNB） model is used to calculate the final saliency map from the depth saliency and color saliency probabilities by applying Bayes＇ theorem. The Caussian distribution parameter can be estimated in the DMNB model by using a variational inference-based expectation maximization algorithm. The experimental results on a recent eye tracking database show that the proposed model performs better than other existing models.

In this paper, we address the event-triggered state estimation problem for a class of time-varying complex networks subject to multiplicative noises and stochastic coupling under uncertain occurrence probability. The stochastic coupling is modeled by introducing a set of Bernoulli distributed random variables, where the uncertainties of the occurrence probability is characterized. Moreover, the event-triggered mechanism is employed with hope to reduce the network burden and save energy consumption. The aim of the paper is to design the robust state estimator for addressed dynamics networks and derive an optimized upper bound of the estimation error covariance by properly choosing the estimator gain. Finally, simulations and comparisons are provided to verify the validity of the proposed robust state estimation method.

The soft fault diagnosis of nonlinear analog circuits is an important guarantee of the stable and reliable operation of electronic products. In view of the low accuracy and heavy computation load of current soft fault diagnosis methods for nonlinear analog circuits, this paper presents a soft fault diagnosis method for nonlinear analog circuits based on fractal theory. Analyzing the single-fractal and generalized multi-fractal diagnosis mechanisms, and taking the fault signal as an example, the proposed method calculate the fractal dimension of the fault signal by the single-fractal box dimension and generalized multi-fractal dimension calculation method, and analyzes the influence of different frequency input signals on the features of the fault state signal through experimental simulation. It is concluded that the increasing frequency of the input signal has little effect on the fractal characteristics of the fault signal. Comparing the single-fractal and the generalized multi-fractal diagnosis method, the author discovers that the effect is better when generalized multi-fractal dimension sequence is used to diagnose the circuit fault.
