Non-contact video-based vital signs continuous monitor for uncontrained conscious rodents

Animal experiments should minimize pain and discomfort and maximize animal welfare to satisfy the experimental animal 3R principle. The quality of vital signs monitor results collected from conscious and stress-free rodents is superior, ensuring experimental data's reliability, accuracy, and scientificity. This work proposes a non-contact video-based vital signs continuous monitoring method for uncontrained conscious rodents. Firstly, rodents are tracked using keypoint detection, and Regions of Interest (ROI) on the rodents are selected based on signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) distribution of vital signs. Secondly, corner motion within the ROI region is tracked to synthesize skin pulsations, from which respiratory signals are extracted. Finally, a method is proposed to eliminate the influence of respiratory harmonics, thereby removing respiratory interference and extracting the heart rate. Four rats and four mice were used to measure the performance of the proposed method. This work is the first to use a camera to continuously monitor the heart rate of unrestrained and conscious rodents. Compared with the ground truth (semi-implantable electrocardiogram), the relative heart rate (HR) error was 1.86 ± 0.82% and 1.20 ± 0.33% for rats and mice, respectively. This method is used for uncontrained conscious rodents and has high applicability, allowing it to be used in various experimental environments and conditions. At the same time, this work contributes to the development of new methods for continuously and objectively evaluating animal welfare, thereby promoting the development of modern biomedical and ethical research. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Identification methods based on modal parameters for monitoring the health condition of concrete dams and assessing their performance during the operational period have gained significant research interest due to their economic efficiency and simplicity. This study summarizes current researches in signal acquisition techniques and parameter identification methods employed in the field of dam health monitoring, including ways of data collecting, identification algorithms, and the developmental trajectory of parameter identification for dams. Additionally, future research directions for utilizing modal parameters in dam performance identification are suggested. This study provides valuable insights for the advancement of health monitoring technologies in hydraulic structures. © 2025 SPIE.

Surface deformation calculations due to environmental loading typically rely on the Preliminary Reference Earth Model(PREM),which assumes a homogeneous and isotropic Earth structure,leading to noticeable *** enhance accuracy,the high-precision crustal model CRUST 1.0 is used to refine calculations of regional surface deformation caused by hydrological and non-tidal atmospheric *** improved model is applied to 27 Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)reference stations in the first phase of the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China(CMONOC),considering their geographical ***'s functions are employed to compute surface deformation at each *** indicate relative discrepancies of 11.78%and 14.14%for non-tidal atmospheric and hydrological loading compared to PREM,with vertical deformation differences reaching an average of 18.95%.Additionally,the distinct spatial distribution characteristics of the relative differences in each direction indicate that the improved RPREM model is more responsive to the mass variations derived from Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE).The results suggest that the improved PRREM model demonstrates higher sensitivity to loading variations than the PREM *** the enhanced method of calculating surface deformation through the utilization of Green's function at the site could effectively reduce the calculation error caused by regional structure,leading to enhanced uniformity and isotropy of PREM.

The digital age has created various channels for the sustainable development of traditional culture. A Neo4j-based knowledge graph for Tujia Intangible cultural heritage music was constructed to address the potential loss of Tujia Intangible cultural heritage music. The project involved integrating and consolidating Tujia Intangible cultural heritage music resources, organizing and cleaning the collected data, storing it in a Neo4j graph database, designing a knowledge base ontology model, and completing the construction of the Tujia Intangible cultural heritage music knowledge graph. The knowledge graph makes the knowledge of music and cultural heritage explicit from vast information resources, effectively expanding its dissemination breadth and promoting the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage music in ethnic areas. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Inverse modeling is extensively applied in the design and tuning of microwave filters (MFs). Inverse models (IMs) take the features extracted from the high-dimensional electromagnetic parameters as input. How to make full use of features from multiple perspective is a critical issue for improving model accuracy. To solve it, this letter proposes an attention-modulated feature fusion neural network (AMFFNN). AMFFNN achieves multiperspective feature fusion (MPFF) at the input side and independent feature fusion (IFF) at the output side. In addition, feature fusion in AMFFNN is enhanced by attention modules to dynamically identify the importance of each feature. Statistical and comparative results of simulations demonstrate that AMFFNN outperforms existing methods in terms of accuracy, stability, and generalization. © 2023 IEEE.

Platinum-based(Pt)catalysts are notoriously susceptible to deactivation in industrial chemical processes due to carbon monoxide(CO)*** this poisoning deactivation of Pt-based catalysts while enhancing their catalytic activity,selectivity,and durability remains a major ***,we propose a strategy to enhance the CO tolerance of Pt clusters(Pt_n)by introducing neighboring functionalized guest single atoms(such as Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Sb,and Bi).Among them,antimony(Sb)single atoms(SAs)exhibit significant performance enhancement,achieving 99%CO selectivity and 33.6%CO_(2)conversion at 450℃,Experimental results and density functional theory(DFT)calculations indicate the optimization arises from the electronic interaction between neighboring functionalized Sb SAs and Pt clusters,leading to optimal 5d electron redistribution in Pt clusters compared to other functionalized guest single *** redistribution of 5d electrons weaken both theσdonation andπbackdonation interactions,resulting in a weakened bond strength with CO and enhancing catalyst activity and *** situ environmental transmission electron microscopy(ETEM)further demonstrates the exception thermal stability of the catalyst,even under H_(2)at 700℃.Notably,the functionalized Sb SAs also improve CO tolerance in various heterogenous catalysts,including Co/CeO_(2),Ni/CeO_(2),Pt/Al_(2)O_(3),and Pt/CeO_(2)-*** finding provides an effective approach to overcome the primary challenge of CO poisoning in Pt-based catalysts,making their broader applications in various industrial catalysts.

This article focuses on the selection of reactive current ratio coefficient, explaining the impact of fixed current coefficient on wind turbine voltage recovery from the perspectives of maximizing dynamic reactive power capacity during faults and extreme voltage surges during fault recovery, which bring high voltage ride through risks. Subsequently, the establishment of a dynamic current coefficient adjustment model was completed within the framework of reinforcement learning, and reasonable modifications were made to the algorithm mechanism to address the problem. The PPO algorithm was selected for intelligent agent training in both continuous state space and discrete action space. Finally, the superiority of the algorithm and the effectiveness of improving wind turbine transient voltage support and accelerating transient voltage recovery by changing the reactive current ratio coefficient were verified in simulation testing. The variable reactive current ratio coefficient can achieve maximum reactive power support during the duration of faults, and better tap into the reactive capacity of doubly fed wind turbines. © State Grid Electric Power 2025.

With the ongoing advancement of deep learning, modern network intrusion detection systems increasingly favor utilizing deep learning networks to improve their ability to learn traffic characteristics. To address the challenge of obtaining a substantial amount of labeled training data, many intrusion detection systems now focus on unsupervised anomaly detection methods. Despite this shift, researchers still face the daunting task of distinguishing a significant volume of anomalous traffic and dealing with data imbalance. To address these real-world challenges, we introduce UARC, a system capable of achieving unsupervised anomaly traffic detection through multi-clustering. UARC utilizes an enhanced U-shaped autoencoder and a feature fusion method incorporating Masked Retnet to effectively extract spatiotemporal features from network traffic. It combines these techniques with the HDBSCAN algorithm for multi-clustering of traffic, providing a form of reverse guidance for network learning. Experimental results on multiple datasets demonstrate that UARC can cluster various types of traffic with an impressive accuracy rate of up to 97.96%, while achieving a 99.70% AUC value for anomaly detection. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The aqueous preparation of Na3(VOPO4)2F cathode material with low cost and good structural stability has attracted extensive attention for advancing sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). However, the inclusive heterogeneous cations incorporated into the material lattice, dominated by coordination chemistry, are always overlooked. Herein, the embroiled NH4+/H3O+ cations in the Na3(VOPO4)2F lattice have been first disclosed during aqueous co-precipitation. It involves the electrostatic interactions between hydrogen protons (NH4+/H3O+) and electronegative oxygen atoms (V=O and V–O–P groups), which induces the terrible Na+-storage performance, as demonstrated by multiple characterizations. Followingly, the very-facile operation, i.e. heat treatment, has been raised to remove NH4+/H3O+ cations and then achieved high-performance Na3(VOPO4)2F. Therefore, the Na3(VOPO4)2F||Na cell contributes to the significantly improved discharge capacity (129.7 mAh g−1) and voltage plateau from 3.63 to 3.87 V (vs. Na/Na+) at 0.2 C. The ultrahigh capacity retentions of 93.7% and 76.7% after 1000 and 3500 cycles at 1 and 20 C rates under 25 °C are harvested, respectively, as well as high/low-temperature performances and rate capability. Eventually, the as-assembled Na3(VOPO4)2F||hard carbon full-cell delivers excellent long-term cycling stability over 1000 cycles with 97.5% retention at 3 C. These emphasize the high-efficacy synthesis of Na3(VOPO4)2F and provide insights into the aqueous co-precipitation for the development of materials used in SIBs. © 2025 Science Press

The role of urban green space morphology and threshold in cooling efficiency: Evidence from five cities, China

Urban heat islands pose significant public health risks due to elevated land surface temperatures (LSTs). Although urban green spaces (UGSs) effectively mitigate LST, enhancing cooling efficiency through optimizing UGS morphology (UGSM) remains a challenge. This study identifies UGSM types in five megacities through morphological spatial pattern analysis (MSPA) and hierarchical clustering. To identify high-efficiency cooling regions, a novel method based on multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR) was developed and interactively validated via random forest and XGBoost models. We found that high-efficiency cooling regions are primarily concentrated in higher LST zones (MH, H). In these regions, significant spatial non-stationary effects of UGSMs impact on the LST were observed. Compared with that of the whole region, the explanatory efficiency of UGSMs for LST variation increased by more than 15 %. In high-efficiency cooling regions, the bridge-dominated mixed UGSM (Bri-MUGSM) exhibited the highest explanatory power, explaining over 91 % of the LST variation with XGBoost. Notably, 85.72 % of the UGSM indicators (MSPs) exhibited nonlinear threshold impacts on the LST. Among all the UGSMs, for cores with values below 40 ha/km2, every 10 ha increase corresponds to an approximate 1 °C decrease in LST. When perforation exceeds approximately 20 ha/km2, it continues to effectively mitigate LST, while the cooling efficiency of other MSPs shows relatively typical environmental dependency due to significant differences in different UGSMs. This study provides scientific foundation for identifying high-efficiency cooling regions, thereby improving the UGS cooling efficiency and introduces a new diagnostic framework for identifying high-efficiency UGS areas to address other environmental challenges. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd
