Short message is one of the most common communication media for mobile subscribers, so major mobile operators are devoted to improve their Short Message Service (SMS). However, the annoying and undesired messages, also named message spam or simply spam, not only worsen the users' experience, but also cause their complaints on SMS. In this paper, we present a novel Chinese SMS spam filtering framework based on AdaBoost algorithm to provide accurate and effective short messages classification. Three content-based weak filters are introduced to boost the performance of final classification decision. Results from Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) analysis prove the proposed method has such advantages as higher efficiency and fewer parameters over those established SMS spam filtering methods. The application of the proposed method is expected to block the most spam for mobile subscribers and improve the service quality of SMS. With simple data processing and few training parameters, the proposed method can be applied into the practice of short text classification.

Most conventional crowd counting methods utilize a fully-supervised learning framework to establish a mapping between scene images and crowd density maps. They usually rely on a large quantity of costly and time-intensive pixel-level annotations for training supervision. One way to mitigate the intensive labeling effort and improve counting accuracy is to leverage large amounts of unlabeled images. This is attributed to the inherent self-structural information and rank consistency within a single image, offering additional qualitative relation supervision during training. Contrary to earlier methods that utilized the rank relations at the original image level, we explore such rank-consistency relation within the latent feature spaces. This approach enables the incorporation of numerous pyramid partial orders, strengthening the model representation capability. A notable advantage is that it can also increase the utilization ratio of unlabeled samples. Specifically, we propose a Deep Rank-consistEnt pyrAmid Model (DREAM), which makes full use of rank consistency across coarse-to-fine pyramid features in latent spaces for enhanced crowd counting with massive unlabeled images. In addition, we have collected a new unlabeled crowd counting dataset, FUDAN-UCC, comprising 4,000 images for training purposes. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets, namely UCF-QNRF, ShanghaiTech PartA and PartB, and UCF-CC-50, show the effectiveness of our method compared with previous semi-supervised methods. With the development of augmented reality (AR) technologies, more and more approaches are proposed for medical applications. With the help of AR technology, the doctor can highly improve the spatial perception and obtain more information beneath the displayed image. Generally, 3D reconstruction, registration, tracking and depth visualization are all important for an AR system, which directly determine the accuracy of the system. However, none of recent systems have achieved a perfect 3D vision for doctors. It is particularly challenging for the AR system to perform well for operation on highly deformable body tissues. Therefore, there is an urgent need to improve the 3D vision and intelligence of AR systems. In this paper, we provide a review of the recent development of augmentation technologies for surgery and medical treatment. And then, we introduce the parallel intelligence theory into AR systems, which can provide a feasible approach to enhance the efficiency.

Image ordinal estimation is to predict the ordinal label of a given image, which can be categorized as an ordinal regression problem. Recent methods formulate an ordinal regression problem as a series of binary classification problems. Such methods cannot ensure that the global ordinal relationship is preserved since the relationships among different binary classifiers are neglected. We propose a novel ordinal regression approach, termed Convolutional Ordinal Regression Forest or CORF, for image ordinal estimation, which can integrate ordinal regression and differentiable decision trees with a convolutional neural network for obtaining precise and stable global ordinal relationships. The advantages of the proposed CORF are twofold. First, instead of learning a series of binary classifiers independently, the proposed method aims at learning an ordinal distribution for ordinal regression by optimizing those binary classifiers simultaneously. Second, the differentiable decision trees in the proposed CORF can be trained together with the ordinal distribution in an end-to-end manner. The effectiveness of the proposed CORF is verified on two image ordinal estimation tasks, i.e. facial age estimation and image aesthetic assessment, showing significant improvements and better stability over the state-of-the-art ordinal regression methods. Gastric hemorrhage in upper gastrointestinal bleeding is an obvious indicator of deteriorating gastric disease. This paper proposes a capsule robot system for detecting bleeding in the stomach. The patient ingests a capsule robot containing luminol reagent, which detects bleeding in the stomach via chemiluminescence. The MCU receives the optical sensor signal, and the data is transmitted via radio frequency. The external lower computer receives and forwards the data to the upper computer for processing and display. The data is used to determine the presence and amount of stomach bleeding. Chemiluminescence is an excellent sensor, requiring no external energy supply, and demonstrating excellent sensitivity and selectivity. Combining chemical and electronic sensors presents opportunities for further development. Capsule robot detection reduces the discomfort and risk of secondary injury associated with traditional endoscopy. This paper establishes an experimental platform using porcine blood to simulate human blood, demonstrating the feasibility of the system.

This paper studies the consensus control problem faced with three essential demands, namely, discrete control updating for each agent, discrete-time communications among neighboring agents, and the fully distributed fashion of the controller implementation without requiring any global information of the whole network topology. Noting that the existing related results only meeting one or two demands at most are essentially not applicable, in this paper we establish a novel framework to solve the problem of fully distributed consensus with discrete communication and control. The first key point in this framework is the design of controllers that are only updated at discrete event instants and do not depend on global information by introducing time-varying gains inspired by the adaptive control technique. Another key point is the invention of novel dynamic triggering functions that are independent of relative information among neighboring agents. Under the established framework, we propose fully distributed state-feedback event-triggered protocols for undirected graphs and also further study the more complexed cases of output-feedback control and directed graphs. FusionPlanner: A Multi-task Motion Planner for Mining Trucks via Multi-sensor Fusion

In recent years, significant achievements have been made in motion planning for intelligent vehicles. However, as a typical unstructured environment, open-pit mining attracts limited attention due to its complex operational conditions and adverse environmental factors. A comprehensive paradigm for unmanned transportation in open-pit mines is proposed in this research. Firstly, we propose a multi-task motion planning algorithm, called FusionPlanner, for autonomous mining trucks by the multi-sensor fusion method to adapt both lateral and longitudinal control tasks for unmanned transportation. Then, we develop a novel benchmark called MiningNav, which offers three validation approaches to evaluate the trustworthiness and robustness of well-trained algorithms in transportation roads of open-pit mines. Finally, we introduce the Parallel Mining Simulator (PMS), a new high-fidelity simulator specifically designed for open-pit mining scenarios. PMS enables the users to manage and control open-pit mine transportation from both the single-truck control and multi-truck scheduling perspectives. The performance of FusionPlanner is tested by MiningNav in PMS, and the empirical results demonstrate a significant reduction in the number of collisions and takeovers of our planner. We anticipate our unmanned transportation paradigm will bring mining trucks one step closer to trustworthiness and robustness in continuous round-the-clock unmanned transportation. In this paper, we developed a path planning system for smart cars for teaching electronic engineering or computer science, which consists of the interactive platform for smart cars development and path planning. Designed by Visual C++, the interactive platform can call Matlab engine, allows users to choose path optimization algorithms such as genetic or A-star(A*) algorithm for different tasks and control smart cars through serial ports. The simulation and practice demonstrate that our interactive platform can help learners to plan paths and control intelligent vehicles without specially designing a user interface.

Regret and cumulative constraint violation analysis for online convex optimization with long term constraints

This paper considers online convex optimization with long term constraints, where constraints can be violated in intermediate rounds, but need to be satisfied in the long run. The cumulative constraint violation is used as the metric to measure constraint violations, which excludes the situation that strictly feasible constraints can compensate the effects of violated constraints. A novel algorithm is first proposed and it achieves an O(Tmax{c,1-c}) bound for static regret and an O(T (1-c)/2) bound for cumulative constraint violation, where c ϵ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter, and thus has improved performance compared with existing results. Both static regret and cumulative constraint violation bounds are reduced to O(log(T )) when the loss functions are strongly convex, which also improves existing results. In order to achieve the optimal regret with respect to any comparator sequence, another algorithm is then proposed and it achieves the optimal O( p T (1 + PT )) regret and an O(√T) cumulative constraint violation, where PT is the path-length of the comparator sequence. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.
