In the cement production process, the speed of grate coolers directly affects the residence time and cooling effect of cement clinker. Its effective control is of great significance to ensuring cement quality. But the adjustment of grate speed is a complex process, involving moderate cooling air, uniform clinker thickness, regulated output and other constraints. In this study, an Auto-Regressive with exogenous input (ARX) grate cooler prediction model is developed using a data-driven approach based on a company’s cement production line, a model predictive control (MPC) approach is employed for the purpose of optimising the speed of the grate cooler based on the ARX model. The results demonstrate that the method of MPC exhibits greater stability than the method of PID, and that MPC technology has good efficacy and superiority in the adjustment of grate speed. © 2024 IEEE.

In the cement production process, the decomposer outlet temperature control faces challenges such as large time delay and multiple disturbances. A general control system cannot handle time delay and disturbances effectively at the same time. Therefore, in this paper, we consider the problem of disturbances in time-delay systems and suppress the disturbances present in the outlet temperature control of the decomposer by combining equivalent-input-disturbance (EID) and Model Predictive control (MPC), where EID can estimate the disturbances and apply them to the input channels of the system, which do not require any information about the disturbances. Finally simulations are carried out in the catabolizer system and the results indicate that this system is able to suppress the perturbations effectively in time delay systems. © 2024 IEEE.

In this article, the time-varying formation-containment control problem of heterogeneous multi-agent systems (MASs) with an observer-based state feedback protocol is studied, where both communication delays and output delays are taken into consideration. By introducing an augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals (LKFs) candidate and employing less conservative methods to estimate its derivative, an improved quasi-formation-containment criterion is derived. On this basis, some observers and controllers are designed to allow for a larger maximum upper bound (MUB) of time delays on the premise of guaranteeing the fulfillment of the time-varying formation of leaders and the bounded convergence of followers. The estimation of the MUB determines the allowable delay range for system stability under the designed observers and controllers. Moreover, a distributed algorithm is developed to calculate the MUB of time delays, the observer gains, and the controller gains. Finally, two simulation experiments are implemented to demonstrate the obtained results, which verify the superiority and practicability of the criterion and algorithm. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Recent advancements in music generation research have significantly progressed the field. However, a prevalent issue among current models is their tendency to overlook music's intrinsic structure, leading to compositions that lack coherence and thematic consistency. This paper proposes a novel approach to structured music generation that addresses these challenges by considering music structure as styles of different subsegments. The approach enhances the deep structural aspects of generative music by deriving embedding vectors from pre-trained contrastive models and clustering them into discrete structured tokens for generative conditions. Furthermore, this study introduces a self-similarity-based evaluation method to assess the structural features of the generated music. Experimental results indicate that the Structured Music Transformer (SMT) significantly outperforms contemporary models in producing compositions that are stylistically coherent and structurally robust, as demonstrated across two diverse datasets. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of automation.

Prediction of transmission spectrum from photonic energy band via autoencoder network

Optical topological insulators, as an emerging type of photonic material, present substantial benefits for optical communication. The advanced pattern recognition capabilities of deep learning have propelled the inverse design of topological photonic structures into a hot area of research. However, existing methods encounter difficulties with the analysis of intricate band structures. Therefore, we construct a deep learning model capable of handling two-dimensional data of photonic energy band. Utilizing an autoencoder network, our model indirectly trains the photonic energy band and transmission spectrum, by converting them into feature coding. It integrates a transmission spectrum autoencoder and a photonic energy band autoencoder, processing energy band data to predict the corresponding transmission spectrum. The results indicate that compared to convolutional neural network (CNN), our model can accurately predict transmission spectrum, and perform better on both evaluation metrics of RMSE and R2. This work enhances prediction accuracy by leveraging energy band diagrams to constrain optical properties. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

Smart soft dielectric elastomer actuators(SSDEAs)possess wide applications in soft robotics due to their properties similar to natural muscles,including large deformation ratio,high energy density,and fast response ***,the complicated asymmetric and rate-dependent hysteresis property,creep property and quadratic input property of the SSDEA pose enormous challenges to its dynamic modeling and motion *** this paper,first,we construct the dynamic model of the SSDEA by connecting a square module,a one-sided Prandtl–Ishlinskii(OSPI)model and a linear system in series to describe the above *** key and innovative aspect of the dynamic modeling lies in cascading the square module in series with the OSPI model to construct the asymmetric hysteresis ***,a PI-funnel and inverse hysteresis compensation(PIFIHC)cascade control method of the SSDEA is proposed to actualize its tracking control *** performing the inversion operation on the asymmetric hysteresis model,the inverse hysteresis compensation controller(IHCC)is designed to compensate the asymmetric hysteresis property and quadratic input property of the *** addition,a PI-funnel controller is designed to cascade with the IHCC to construct the PIFIHC cascade controller to obtain a good tracking ***,the stability analysis of the PIFIHC cascade control system of the SSDEA is performed to theoretically prove that the tracking error can be controlled within the performance funnel and the steady-state error converges to ***,several practical tracking control experiments of the SSDEA are conducted,and RRMSEs are less than 2.30%for all *** experimental results indicate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed PIFIHC cascade control method of the SSDEA.

Spectrum-induced polarization (SIP) is a widely used geophysical exploration approach, but it is prone to noise. To address this issue, this paper proposes a noise reduction method that combines phase space reconstruction (PSR) and fast independent component analysis (fastICA). The proposed approach enhances the signal-to-noise ratio of SIP data by effectively removing noise. Experimental results show that the PSR-fastICA method significantly reduces noise in SIP signals. © 2023 SPIE.

Silicon Optical Filter With Widely Tunable Bandwidth Driving by intelligent Algorithms

Capitalizing two silicon rings assisted a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) structure, we propose and demonstrate picometer narrowband optical filters featuring widely tunable bandwidths, high extinction ratios and low in-band ripples. By tuning the bandwidth of any ring or the resonance offset between the two rings, the filter bandwidth could be flexibly manipulated. Notably, by controlling the phase of the two rings and the MZI structures, the extinction ratios and shape factors of the filter could be commendably improved. It is worth mentioning that a genetic algorithm is employed to efficiently manipulate the various heaters on the optical filter, enabling the attainment of desired target filtering waveforms. Experimental results demonstrate the filter capability to widely adjust its 3dB-bandwidth while maintaining high extinction ratios, low in-band ripples and favorable shape factors. To the best of our knowledge, it is a record bandwidth tuning range among the algorithm-driven pm-narrowband optical filters. With the dominant advantages and high performance, the proposed optical filters are competent to dynamically process the on-chip narrowband signals. © 1983-2012 IEEE.
