An innovative constraining ring rolling process for manufacturing conical rings with thin sterna and high ribs

Conical rings with thin sterna and high ribs(CRTSHR)are key bearing-load parts of aerospace equipment,which are required to be manufactured with high performance and *** ring rolling is the most preferred method for manufacturing high-performance ring parts,but it can hardly achieve the forming of CRTSHR due to the extreme geometry of *** solve this difficulty,an innovative constraining ring rolling process(CRR)is proposed in this paper to manufacture *** evaluate the proposed CRR and reveal its deformation behaviors,a thermomechanical coupled FE model for CRR of CRTSHR is ***,the experiment for CRR of CRTSHR is performed on a modified ring rolling machine,which proves that CRR of CRTSHR is feasible and the established FE model is *** on the reliable FE model,the metal flow mode in deformed CRTSHR is analyzed,and the deformation characteristics such as the stress state,strain distribution and the evolution of power parameters in CRR of CRTSHR are ***,the influences of key parameters such as the friction factor between ring and molds,the diameter of idle roll and the feed velocity of idle roll on CRR of CRTSHR are investigated by FE simulation.

Mechanical behaviors and energy absorption properties of Y/Cr and Ce/Cr coated open-cell nickel-based alloy foams

In this study, Y-and Ce-modified Cr coatings applied by pack cementation method were prepared on the surface of open-cell nickel-based alloy foam. The morphologies and microstructures of Y- and Ce-modified Cr coatings with various Y and Ce contents were investigated in detail. Then, the effects of Y and Ce addition on the mechanical properties of open-cell nickel-based alloy foams were analyzed and compared. Simultaneously, the energy absorption capacity and energy absorption efficiency of the Y- and Ce-modified Cr coated alloy foams were discussed and compared at the room and high temperatures. The results show that Cr coatings containing minor amounts of rare earth element （Y and Ce） are well adhered to the nickel-based foam struts. Especially, the microstructure of the 2 wt% Ce-modified Cr coating is denser and uniform. In addition, the compressive strength and plateau stress of Y- and Ce-modified Cr coated alloy foams firstly increase and then decrease by increasing the Y and Ce contents at room and high temperatures. The energy absorption capacity of Y/Cr and Ce/Cr coated alloy foams increases linearly with the strains increasing. The Ce/Cr coated alloy foams can absorb more energy than Y/Cr coated alloy foams in the plateau and densification regions at room temperature. Compared to those at room temperature, the Y- and Ce-modified Cr coated alloy foams show higher energy absorption efficiency when deforma- tion within 10%-30% at high temperature.

Objective Quantification of Small Motor Sound Quality Based on Psychoacoustic Metrics

With the widespread application of electrification and intelligence of automobiles,the number of electric devices with small DC motors in automobiles has gradually increased,and the in-terior of electric vehicles is *** sound quality(SQ)of small motor directly affects the pas-senger ***,the research on the SQ of small motor is of great *** this paper,the objective quantification of small motor sound quality was investigated based on tradi-tional psychoacoustic *** time-frequency characteristics of sound signal was analyzed to quantify the subjective perception caused by the sound of small *** a new psychoacoustic metrics of objective evaluation which were suitable for small motor SQ evaluation were proposed,namely specific loudness energy(SLE),specific prominence ratio index(SPRI),relative pitch exceedance(RPE)and tremolo index(TI).Then,two objective evaluation models of small motor SQ were established to characterize the multi-dimensional subjective perception attributes by using multiple linear regression(MLR)and support vector regression(SVR)respectively,which can be used for the prediction and evaluation of the small motor *** results show that the prediction accuracy of the model established by SVR method was higher than that of MLR,and SVR has stronger *** objective evaluation model of small motors SQ established in this study is of great importance for improving the sound quality of small motors.

Effects of process parameters on morphology and distribution of externally solidified crystals in microstructure of magnesium alloy die castings

During the cold-chamber high pressure die casting(HPDC) process, samples were produced to investigate the microstructure characteristics of AM60B magnesium alloy. Special attention was paid to the effects of process parameters on the morphology and distribution of externally solidified crystals(ESCs) in the microstructure of magnesium alloy die castings, such as slow shot phase plunger velocity, delay time of pouring and fast shot phase plunger velocity. On the basis of metallographic observation and quantitative statistics, it is concluded that a lower slow shot phase plunger velocity and a longer delay time of pouring both lead to an increment of the size and percentage of the ESCs, due to the fact that a longer holding time of the melt in the shot sleeve will cause a more severe loss of the superheat. The impingement of the melt flow on the ESCs is more intensive with a higher fast shot phase plunger velocity, in such case the ESCs reveal a more granular and roundish morphology and are dispersed throughout the cross section of the castings. Based on analysis of the filling and solidification processes of the melt during the HPDC process, reasonable explanations were proposed in terms of the nucleation, growth, remelting and fragmentation of the ESCs to interpret the effects of process parameters on the morphology and distribution of the ESCs in the microstructure of magnesium alloy die castings.

The micro-perforated panel(MPP)structure has been widely used in various noise control applications,and thus its acoustic performance prediction has been receiving increasing *** acoustic performance of simple MPP structures,such as a MPPsound absorber,has been predicted using an analytical calculation ***,this is not a suitable approach toward predicting the acoustic performance of complicated MPP structures,owing to the structural complexity of these ***,the many perforations of submillimeter scale diameter render the MPP structures very difficult to analyze using numerical ***,this study focused on two different simplified MPP simulation methods:the transfer admittance method and the equivalent fluid method,and their application on double-layer MPP *** on the two simplified MPP simulation methods,the transmission loss value of the double-layer MPP mufflers with two sets of different structural parameters was calculated,*** predicted results were compared with the impedance tube *** results revealed that the two simplified MPP simulation methods could effectively predict the acoustic performance of doublelayer MPP ***,the prediction based on the transfer admittance method can outperform the two simplified simulation methods.

On the deformation behavior of heterogeneous microstructure and its effect on the mechanical properties of die cast AZ91D magnesium alloy

Both a conventional flow distributer and an improved one with a flow buffer were applied respectively during the high pressure die casting(HPDC)process,and samples of AZ91D magnesium alloy with different microstructure mainly consisting ofα-Mg grains,β-phase and porosities were *** to the grain orientation analysis,the predominant deformation behavior inα-Mg grains was dislocation slip,supplemented by deformation *** slip was more difficult to occur in the samples with the improved flow distributer on account of the fact that the size ofα-Mg grains in the microstructure was finer and more *** the in situ tensile deformation test,cracks were observed to initiate from gas-shrinkage pore and island-shrinkage,and two main crack propagation mechanisms,porosity growth and coalescence were found *** the crack was in contact with theβ-phase,it would pass through and fracture the networkβ-phase,whereas bypass the islandβ-phase by detaching it from the surroundingα-Mg *** property tests showed that the samples with relatively more homogeneous microstructure would perform higher mechanical properties,which was the combined effect of matrixα-Mg grains,β-phase,and porosities.

The Influence of temperature on the microstructure and properties of Cu/Al tube joints in magnetic pulse-assisted semi-solid brazing

This study addresses the technical challenge of copper/aluminum (Cu/Al) tube joining through the innovative application of magnetic pulse-assisted semi-solid brazing (MPASSB) technology. Through an integrated approach combining finite element simulation with microstructural characterization, this study systematically investigates how brazing temperature (390–440 °C) influences the microstructure and mechanical properties of Cu/Al tube joints. Notably, a novel finite element method-smoothed particle hydrodynamics (FEM-SPH) coupling model has been developed. This model enables precise simulation of fluid-solid interactions between tubes and filler metal during the brazing process, providing fresh insights into oxide layer removal mechanisms. The research reveals that brazing temperature serves as the critical parameter governing the elemental diffusion and microstructural evolution in the joint. As the temperature increases from 390 °C to 440 °C, the viscosity coefficient of the filler metal decreases significantly from 41.6Pa·s to 1.798Pa·s, resulting in enhanced fluidity that promotes interfacial interactions between the tubes and filler metal and effectively removes surface oxide films, thus improving joint quality. However, excessive temperature intensifies the filler metal ejection, increasing the risk of filler metal deficiency at the top of the joint. Mechanical testing demonstrates that joints brazed at 440 °C achieve optimal shear strength of 81.1 MPa, with fracture occurring at the copper-side (Cu-side) interface between the Al 4.2 Cu 3.2 Zn 0.7 intermetallic phase and the diffusion layer. This work establishes fundamental theoretical guidance for optimizing MPASSB process parameters and facilitates the efficient joining of Cu/Al tubes.

Research on vehicle travel destinations mostly only consider vehicle trajectory data and ignore the influence of other multi-source data,such as weather,time,and points of interest(POI).This study proposes a destination prediction method based on multi-source data,and a multi-input neural network model is *** terms of the coding of vehicle trajectory data,a GeoHash to vector(Geo2vec)model is proposed to realize the characterization of the *** for the coding of temporal features,a cyclic coding model is proposed based on trigonometric *** the coding of POI,an origin-destination POI matrix(OD-POI)model is proposed based on the state transition *** results show that in terms of the average distance and root-mean-square distance deviations,Geo2vec reveals reductions of 4.51%and 5.63%compared to word to vector(Word2vec),and cyclic encoding shows reductions of 6.35%and 6.67%compared to label encoding;further,the method of OD-POI state transition probability is reduced by 5.85%and 6.4%,and the model based on multi-source data is 17.29%and 17.65%lower than the model based on trajectory data ***,the cyclic encoding is reduced by 48.60%in the data dimension compared to one-hot *** destination prediction will help improve the efficiency of automotive human-computer interaction.

A method of generating car sounds based on granular synthesis algorithm

The active sound generation technique for automobiles, where car sounds can be synthesized by means of electronic sound production, is one of the effective methods to achieve the target sound. A method for active sound generation of automobile based on the granular synthesis algorithm is put forward here to avoid the broadband beating phenomena that occur due to the mismatch of parameters of sound granular signals. The comparison of the function expression of sound signal and Hilbert transformation is performed based on the principle of overlap and add;moreover, those parameters (phase, frequency and amplitude) of sound signals are interpolated by means of the Hermite interpolation algorithm which can ensure the continuity of the phase, frequency and amplitude curves. Thus, the transition audio is constructed by means of the sound signal function here to splice the adjacent sound granules. Our simulations show that our method can be applied to solve the current broadband beating issue for splicing sound granules and achieve natural continuity of synthesized car sounds. The subjective test results also indicate that our transition audio can produce high quality audio restitution. © 2022 Institute of Noise Control Engineering.

With the continuous development of the marine economy and the inland river transport, traditional maritime cruise ship cruise supervision methods have the shortcomings of short supervision range, small supervision scope, and high cost, etc., which makes it difficult to meet the requirements of modern maritime supervision. This paper proposes a maritime emergency search and rescue system based on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and its landing platform. The system takes the base station with two types of UAV, namely cruise UAV and rescue UAV, as the base point, and realizes unmanned, visualized and normalized monitoring and management of the target waters through the coupling of UAV, aerial protection base stations and control terminals, and provides more detailed and accurate information for the development of search and rescue work. © 2021 IEEE.
