In the past few years, learned video compression has received increasing attention. However, most current learned methods rely on the bilinear warping operations in motion compensation, which is equivalent to a low-pass filtering operation and brings the distortion of reconstruction. To address this problem, we propose a spatial-temporal motion compensation for learned video compression (STMC-LVC). STMC-LVC uses a spatial-temporal motion compensation network (STMC-Net) to fully consider the spatial-temporal correlation between successive frames, performing accurate motion compensation. Specifically, STMC-Net mainly consists of the initial feature prediction module and the fusion module. The initial feature prediction module predicts reference features based on DCN to provide sufficient information for motion compensation. The fusion module obtains temporal attention information by calculating the similarity between features, performs spatial attention operations, and finally performs spatial-temporal fusion, further improving the robustness of motion compensation. In addition, STMC-LVC uses a conditional coding framework. We use a concatenation of the current feature and predicted feature as context to explore spatial-temporal correlations in feature space. Experimental results show that our method effectively improves video compression. Specifically, our model achieves an average of 33.86% and 58.70% bitrate savings than x265 (veryslow) on PSNR and MS-SSIM, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents an efficient and scalable incomplete multi-view clustering method, referred to as Enhanced Dictionary-Induced tenSorized incomplete multi-view clustering with Gaussian errOr raNk minimization (EDISON). Specifically, EDISON employs an enhanced dictionary representation strategy as the foundation for inferring missing data and constructing anchor graphs, ensuring robustness to less-than-ideal data and maintaining high computational efficiency. Additionally, we introduce Gaussian error rank as a concise approximation of the true tensor rank, facilitating a comprehensive exploration of the diverse information encapsulated by various singular values in tensor data. Furthermore, we integrate a hyper-anchor graph Laplacian manifold regularization into the tensor representation, allowing for the simultaneous utilization of inter-view high-order correlations and intra-view local correlations. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of the EDISON model in both effectiveness and efficiency compared to SOTA methods. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

Personalized learner modeling uses learners’ historical behavior data to diagnose their cognitive abilities, a process known as Cognitive Diagnosis (CD). This is essential for web-based learning services such as learning resource recommendation and adaptive testing. However, prior studies have shown that CD models may unfairly correlate learners’ abilities with sensitive attributes (e.g., gender, region), leading to biased outcomes. While existing approaches mitigate this issue by decorrelating sensitive attributes from the modeling process, privacy concerns make collecting such attributes impractical. Furthermore, the presence of multiple sensitive attributes complicates fairness improvements. In this paper, we explore how to achieve fair personalized learner modeling without relying on any sensitive attribute input. We introduce a novel fairness objective tailored for personalized learner modeling and design a max-min strategy to facilitate both sensitive information inference and fair CD modeling. In the max step, we infer pseudo-labels by maximizing the fairness objective, while in the min step, we retrain the CD model by minimizing it. Additionally, we provide a theoretical guarantee that our framework reduces the upper bound of fairness generalization error. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed framework significantly outperforms existing methods. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In video compression, motion estimation and motion compensation are critical for achieving efficient encoding. Although the commonly used SpyNet and bilinear interpolation have contributed in improving the compression efficiency, they still have limitations. SpyNet often loses details and fails to fully utilize the feature extraction capabilities of deep networks. Furthermore, bilinear interpolation inherently attenuates high-frequency information, leading to frame blurring and distortion. In this paper, we propose a novel video compression algorithm. To overcome the limitations of SpyNet, we propose a refined adaptive flow pyramid network. This network uses a multi-scale feature pyramid to capture more details. Moreover, we use an iterative cost volume refinement engine that improves the feature representation of the network and iteratively improve the accuracy of motion estimation. In addition, to overcome the limitation of bilinear interpolation, we propose a coordinate-aware attention module, which captures more high-frequency information to improve the accuracy of motion compensation. Experimental results show that our method outperforms VTM-13.2 (LDP) in terms of PSNR. © 2025 IEEE.

In this correspondence, we propose a movable antenna (MA)-aided multi-user hybrid beamforming scheme with a sub-connected structure, where multiple movable sub-arrays can independently change their positions within different local regions. To maximize the system sum rate, we jointly optimize the digital beamformer, analog beamformer, and positions of sub-arrays, under the constraints of unit modulus, finite movable regions, and power budget. Due to the non-concave/non-convex objective function/constraints, as well as the highly coupled variables, the formulated problem is challenging to solve. By employing fractional programming, we develop an alternating optimization framework to solve the problem via a combination of Lagrange multipliers, penalty method, and gradient descent. Numerical results reveal that the proposed MA-aided hybrid beamforming scheme significantly improves the sum rate compared to its fixed-position antenna (FPA) counterpart. Moreover, with sufficiently large movable regions, the proposed scheme with sub-connected MA arrays even outperforms the fully-connected FPA array. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

When some application scenarios need to use semantic segmentation technology, like automatic driving, the primary concern comes to real-time performance rather than extremely high segmentation accuracy. To achieve a good trade-off between speed and accuracy, two-branch architecture has been proposed in recent years. It treats spatial information and semantics information separately which allows the module to be composed of two networks both not heavy. However, the process of fusing features with two different scales becomes a performance bottleneck for many nowaday two-branch models. In this research, we design a new fusion mechanism for two-branch architecture which is guided by attention computation. To be precise, we use the Dual-Guided Attention (DGA) module we proposed to replace some multi-scale transformations with the calculation of attention which means we only use several attention layers of near linear complexity to achieve performance comparable to frequently-used multi-layer fusion. To ensure that our module can be effective, we use Residual U-blocks (RSU) to build one of the two branches in our networks which aims to obtain better multi-scale features. Extensive experiments on Cityscapes and CamVid dataset show the effectiveness of our method. On Cityscapes, our light version network without pretrain weight can achieve 71.1% mIoU at 163 FPS on a single Nvidia RTX 3070 using full resolution images(1024×2048pix). And the large version can achieve 77.9% mIoU with a speed of 43 FPS which still reaches the real-time criterion. Radiology report generation is an essential task in the medical field, which aims to automate the generation of medical terminology descriptions of radiology images. However, this task currently suffers from several problems: 1) existing methods need to manually build knowledge graphs or templates (consuming time and effort) to introduce medical or prior knowledge to assist in report generation;2) previous models cannot handle the problem of data bias well (anomaly reports and anomaly descriptions make up only a tiny portion of the dataset), causing the models to ignore the learning of anomaly descriptions easily;3) existing approaches cannot robustly supervise the model, resulting in incomplete and inconsistent reports being generated. To address these issues, we propose a cross-modal interactive memory network based on fine-grained medical feature extraction. In our model, we design a cross-modal interactive memory network to automatically store and remember the required medical text knowledge and use this medical knowledge to help generate reports. Furthermore, we design an abnormal medical knowledge enhancement module to enhance the learning of abnormal fine-grained knowledge through the interaction of disease topics and their states to interact with text features. In addition, we design a cross-modal joint semantic loss unit to reduce semantic differences between different features and improve the visual representation ability of the model. We experimented and evaluated our model on MIMIC-CXR and IU-Xray datasets to compare with other baseline models. © 2024 IEEE.

Document-level entity relation extraction is an important task in the field of natural language processing, which plays an important role in semantic understanding and knowledge graph construction. However, existing deep neural networks and graph neural networks models are limited by their performance and parameters number, which can not capture global semantics and have poor generalization ability. Furthermore, existing methods employing large language model for entity relation extraction do not establish good relationships among multi-tasks of entity relation extraction task, resulting in more information can not be effectively shared and transmitted between tasks. In addition, previous approaches can not effectively eliminate false entities and relationships. To solve these problems, we propose an entity relation extraction framework based on large language model and multi-tasks iterative prompt engineering. In our model, we design an iterative prompt engineering, which can better establish the relationship among multi-tasks, and ensure every task to obtain the optimal results. Moreover, we design semantic merging, group disambiguation and self-verification modules to eliminate the false entity relations and noise nodes. Additionally, we design summary prompts to provide sufficient global semantics for better text segmentation. Finally, we evaluated our model on wikiann, wikineural, ACE2005, CoNLL2003, CoNLL2004, and SciERC datasets and compared it with other baseline models. © 2024 IEEE.

Traditional approaches typically flatten the process when checking the conformance of complex processes. However, this flattening approach can result in the loss of dependencies between objects, reducing the accuracy of the conformance check. This paper proposes an object-centered alignment optimization method based on the heuristic A* algorithm to address this issue. This method effectively improves the efficiency of object-centered alignment in complex scenarios by considering both heuristic search and actual cost. The experimental results demonstrate that, in comparison to existing approaches, the proposed method presented in this paper observably enhances the efficiency of alignment in complex graph structures, exhibits superior adaptability, and gains a better understanding of the relationship between object-centric process behavior and data. These results provide new ideas and methods for improving conformance checking, which are of great theoretical and practical significance, especially in dynamic and complex environments where the potential for application has been further validated. © 2025 SPIE.

The number of autos in China has surpassed 312 million, and automotive insurance is the most important part of property insurance. A win-win scenario for policyholders and property insurance firms may be achieved by precisely predicting the amount of auto insurance claims. This will also assist to measure premiums and successfully minimize auto insurance fraud. The existing approach of estimating the amount of auto insurance claims suffers from issues with a simple feature extraction method and a lack of focus on feature correlations, which leads to low prediction accuracy. This research suggests a strategy for forecasting the auto insurance claims amount based on graph deep learning to address these issues. The approach starts by automatically extracting features using convolutional neural networks, generates a feature connection graph, applies graph neural networks to learn and represent the feature relationship graph, and then properly forecasts the amount of auto insurance claims. The experimental results demonstrate that, when compared with Random Forest (RF) and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), the approach described in this work decreases the root mean square error by 3.10% and 2.15%, and the mean absolute error by 3.98% and 1.14%, respectively. This article offers a fresh perspective on the estimation of vehicle insurance claims, as well as implications for other numerical regression prediction disciplines. © 2023 ACM.
