Deterministic transmission refers to the guaranteed delivery of data to its destination within a specific time frame along an optimal route, making it an indispensable prerequisite for the operation of autonomous vehicles. The in-vehicle networks (IVNs) face significant challenges in the deterministic transmission of large volumes of perception and control data from and to various vehicle components. In this paper, the cooperative scheduling and routing problem among multi-area control units (ACUs) in IVN is discussed from the view of deterministic transmission, and a ResVmix method is proposed to find the optimal two-layer assignment with ACU cooperation. The multi-cycle queuing and forwarding (multi-CQF) mechanism is employed to schedule the perceived data according to different quality of service (QoS) requirements. The cooperation among multiple ACUs enables deterministic routing of data. The two-layer optimization problems on multi-CQF and ACU are formulated as a+ decentralized partially observable Markov decision processes (Dec-POMDP) and solved using the enhanced multi-agent deep reinforcement learning (MADRL) method. Simulation results demonstrate that ResVmix significantly enhances the deterministic transmission performance of IVN. Compared to traditional shortest path algorithms and state-of-the-art MADRL methods, ResVmix achieves a 22.4% increase in arrival rate and a 20.1% increase in confirmed arrivals, respectively. IEEE

Large Language Model Supply Chain: A Research Agenda

The rapid advancement of large language models (LLMs) has revolutionized artificial intelligence, introducing unprecedented capabilities in natural language processing and multimodal content generation. However, the increasing complexity and scale of these models have given rise to a multifaceted supply chain that presents unique challenges across infrastructure, foundation models, and downstream applications. This paper provides the first comprehensive research agenda of the LLM supply chain, offering a structured approach to identify critical challenges and opportunities through the dual lenses of software engineering (SE) and security & privacy (S&P). We begin by establishing a clear definition of the LLM supply chain, encompassing its components and dependencies. We then analyze each layer of the supply chain, presenting a vision for robust and secure LLM development, reviewing the current state of practices and technologies, and identifying key challenges and research opportunities. This work aims to bridge the existing research gap in systematically understanding the multifaceted issues within the LLM supply chain, offering valuable insights to guide future efforts in this rapidly evolving domain. WaDec: Decompiling WebAssembly Using Large Language Model

WebAssembly (abbreviated Wasm) has emerged as a cornerstone of web development, offering a compact binary format that allows high-performance applications to run at near-native speeds in web browsers. Despite its advantages, Wasm’s binary nature presents significant challenges for developers and researchers, particularly regarding readability when debugging or analyzing web applications. Therefore, effective decompilation becomes crucial. Unfortunately, traditional decompilers often struggle with producing readable outputs. While some large language model (LLM)-based decompilers have shown good compatibility with general binary files, they still face specific challenges when dealing with Wasm. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach, WaDec, which is the first use of a fine-tuned LLM to interpret and decompile Wasm binary code into a higher-level, more comprehensible source code representation. The LLM was meticulously fine-tuned using a specialized dataset of wat-c code snippets, employing self-supervised learning techniques. This enables WaDec to effectively decompile not only complete wat functions but also finer-grained wat code snippets. Our experiments demonstrate that WaDec markedly outperforms current state-of-the-art tools, offering substantial improvements across several metrics. It achieves a code inflation rate of only 3.34%, a dramatic 97% reduction compared to the state-ofthe-art’s 116.94%. Unlike the output of baselines that cannot be directly compiled or executed, WaDec maintains a recompilability rate of 52.11%, a re-execution rate of 43.55%, and an output consistency of 27.15%. Additionally, it significantly exceeds state-of-the-art performance in AST edit distance similarity by 185%, cyclomatic complexity by 8%, and cosine similarity by 41%, achieving an average code similarity above 50%. Deep learning models have progressively advanced time series forecasting due to their powerful capacity in capturing sequence dependence. Nevertheless, it is still challenging to make accurate predictions due to the existence of non-stationarity in real-world data, denoting the data distribution rapidly changes over time. To mitigate such a dilemma, several efforts have been conducted by reducing the non-stationarity with normalization operation. However, these methods typically overlook the distribution discrepancy between the input series and the horizon series, and assume that all time points within the same instance share the same statistical properties, which is too ideal and may lead to suboptimal relative improvements. To this end, we propose a novel slice-level adaptive normalization, referred to SAN, which is a novel scheme for empowering time series forecasting with more flexible normalization and denormalization. SAN includes two crucial designs. First, SAN tries to eliminate the non-stationarity of time series in units of a local temporal slice (i.e., sub-series) rather than a global instance. Second, SAN employs a slight network module to independently model the evolving trends of statistical properties of raw time series. Consequently, SAN could serve as a general model-agnostic plugin and better alleviate the impact of the non-stationary nature of time series data. We instantiate the proposed SAN on four widely used forecasting models and test their prediction results on benchmark datasets to evaluate its effectiveness. Also, we report some insightful findings to deeply analyze and understand our proposed SAN. We make our codes publicly available. © 2023 Neural information processing systems foundation. Spreadsheets contain a lot of valuable data and have many practical *** key technology of these practical applications is how to make machines understand the semantic structure of spreadsheets,e.g.,identifying cell function types and discovering relationships between cell *** existing methods for understanding the semantic structure of spreadsheets do not make use of the semantic information of cells.A few studies do,but they ignore the layout structure information of spreadsheets,which affects the performance of cell function classification and the discovery of different relationship types of cell *** this paper,we propose a Heuristic algorithm for Understanding the Semantic Structure of spreadsheets(HUSS).Specifically,for improving the cell function classification,we propose an error correction mechanism(ECM)based on an existing cell function classification model[11]and the layout features of *** improving the table structure analysis,we propose five types of heuristic rules to extract four different types of cell pairs,based on the cell style and spatial location *** experimental results on five real-world datasets demonstrate that HUSS can effectively understand the semantic structure of spreadsheets and outperforms corresponding baselines.

With the development of cloud computing, more and more data is stored in cloud servers, which leads to an increasing degree of privacy of data stored in cloud servers. For example, in the critical domain of medical vaccine trials, where public health outcomes hinge on the analysis of sensitive patient data, the imperative to safeguard privacy has never been more pronounced. Traditional encryption methods, though effective at protecting data, often expose vulnerabilities during decryption and lack the ability to support granular data access and computation. One-way re-encryption schemes further impede the agility of data sharing, which is indispensable for the collaborative efforts of research institutions. To address these limitations, we propose a novel bidirectional re-encryption scheme for inner-product functional encryption (IPFE). Our scheme secures data while allowing computation and sharing in an encrypted state, preserving patient privacy without hindering research. By harnessing inner-product functional encryption, our approach allows authorized researchers to extract valuable insights from encrypted data, significantly enhancing privacy protections. Our scheme’s security is predicated on the l-ABDHE (augmented bilinear Diffie-Hellman exponent) assumption, ensuring robustness against chosen plaintext attacks within the standard model. This foundation not only secures the data but also yields compact ciphertext length, minimizing storage demands. We introduce a protocol specifically designed for medical vaccine trials, which leverages our bidirectional IB-IPFRE (Identity-Based Inner-Product Functional Re-Encryption) scheme. This protocol enhances data security, supports collaborative research, and maintains patient privacy. Its application in vaccine trials demonstrates the scheme’s effectiveness in protecting sensitive information while enabling critical research insights. © 2013 IEEE.

Due to the exceptional performance of Transform-ers in 2D medical image segmentation, recent work has also introduced them into 3D medical segmentation tasks. For instance, Swin UNETR and other hierarchical Transformers have reintroduced prior knowledge from several convolutional networks, further enhancing the volume segmentation capabilities of models. The efficacy of these hybrid methodologies is primarily attributed to the substantial quantity of parameters and the nonlocal self-attention mechanism with a large receptive field. We argue that the behavior of these methods' large receptive fields can be simulated by employing fewer parameters through the utilization of depth-wise convolutions with large kernel. Within this manuscript, we introduce a lightweight volume segmentation model called MedX-Net, which uses convolutional network modules to simulate hierarchical Transformers for robust volume segmentation. Firstly, inspired by the hierarchical Transformer module of Swin UNETR, we investigate large-kernel depth-wise convolutions with different sizes to achieve a reduced model parameter count while maintaining a large global receptive field. Secondly, we replace the multilayer perceptron (MLP) in the hierarchical Transformer module with Inverted Bottleneck with Depthwise Convolution Enhancement(DWCE) to improve model performance with fewer activation and normalization layers, further reducing the parameter count. We validate the effectiveness and efficiency of our model for volume segmentation on three public datasets: Synapse, BTCV and ACDC. On the Synapse dataset, compared to Swin UNETR, our model achieves an improvement from 83.48% to 87.21% in Dice score. Compared to the result of 86.57% achieved by nnFormer, our model achieves superior performance while reducing the model parameter count by 64%. © 2024 IEEE.

Knowledge graph (KG) is a highly structural knowledge system, which is widely used for reinforcing the performance of downstream applications. Recently, to enhance recommendation performance, knowledge-driven recommender system has emerged as a research hot-spot in KG applications. However, the existing models are lack of the mutual and deep features mining from it, thus it has underused. For this research, two components are formulated to manage it. They are mutual information captor (MIC) and knowledge aware learner (KAL) in our model, respectively. In MIC, an attention mechanism is used for mutual information between entities in KG and items in recommander system capturing to obtain more features in the form of multi-task feature learning methods; In KAL, a neural network model based on deep factorization is proposed to further mine the deep features between users and items, facilitating knowledge extension for recommendations. The extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed model has achieved promising performance over almost all the state-of-the-art existing models in this research line.

Research on key technologies of edge cache in virtual data space across WAN

The authors of this paper have previously proposed the global virtual data space system (GVDS) to aggregate the scattered and autonomous storage resources in China’s national supercomputer grid (National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou, National Supercomputing Center in Jinan, National Supercomputing Center in Changsha, Shanghai Supercomputing Center, and Computer Network Information Center in Chinese Academy of sciences) into a storage system that spans the wide area network (WAN), which realizes the unified management of global storage resources in China. At present, the GVDS has been successfully deployed in the China National Grid environment. However, when accessing and sharing remote data in the WAN, the GVDS will cause redundant transmission of data and waste a lot of network bandwidth resources. In this paper, we propose an edge cache system as a supplementary system of the GVDS to improve the performance of upper-level applications accessing and sharing remote data. Specifically, we first designs the architecture of the edge cache system, and then study the key technologies of this architecture: the edge cache index mechanism based on double-layer hashing, the edge cache replacement strategy based on the GDSF algorithm, the request routing based on consistent hashing method, and the cluster member maintenance method based on the SWIM protocol. The experimental results show that the edge cache system has successfully implemented the relevant operation functions (read, write, deletion, modification, etc.) and is compatible with the POSIX interface in terms of function. Further, it can greatly reduce the amount of data transmission and increase the data access bandwidth when the accessed file is located at the edge cache system in terms of performance, i.e., its performance is close to the performance of the network file system in the local area network (LAN).

Physiological signals are high-dimensional time series of great practical values in medical and healthcare applications. However, previous works on its classification fail to obtain promising results due to the intractable data characteristics and the severe label sparsity issues. In this paper, we try to address these challenges by proposing a more effective and interpretable scheme tailored for the physiological signal classification task. Specifically, we exploit the time series shapelets to extract prominent local patterns and perform interpretable sequence discretization to distill the whole-series information. By doing so, the long and continuous raw signals are compressed into short and discrete token sequences, where both local patterns and global contexts are well preserved. Moreover, to alleviate the label sparsity issue, a multi-scale transformation strategy is adaptively designed to augment data and a cross-scale contrastive learning mechanism is accordingly devised to guide the model training. We name our method as ShapeWordNet and conduct extensive experiments on three real-world datasets to investigate its effectiveness. Comparative results show that our proposed scheme remarkably outperforms four categories of cutting-edge approaches.
