ViGT: proposal-free video grounding with a learnable token in the transformer

The video grounding(VG) task aims to locate the queried action or event in an untrimmed video based on rich linguistic descriptions. Existing proposal-free methods are trapped in the complex interaction between video and query, overemphasizing cross-modal feature fusion and feature correlation for VG. In this paper, we propose a novel boundary regression paradigm that performs regression token learning in a transformer. Particularly, we present a simple but effective proposal-free framework, namely video grounding transformer(ViGT), which predicts the temporal boundary using a learnable regression token rather than multi-modal or cross-modal features. In ViGT, the benefits of a learnable token are manifested as follows.(1) The token is unrelated to the video or the query and avoids data bias toward the original video and query.(2) The token simultaneously performs global context aggregation from video and query ***, we employed a sharing feature encoder to project both video and query into a joint feature space before performing cross-modal co-attention(i.e., video-to-query attention and query-to-video attention) to highlight discriminative features in each modality. Furthermore, we concatenated a learnable regression token [REG] with the video and query features as the input of a vision-language transformer. Finally, we utilized the token [REG] to predict the target moment and visual features to constrain the foreground and background probabilities at each timestamp. The proposed ViGT performed well on three public datasets:ANet-Captions, TACoS, and YouCookⅡ. Extensive ablation studies and qualitative analysis further validated the interpretability of ViGT.

When matching similarity among pedestrians in images, pedestrian re-identification algorithms are often disturbed by occlusions. A typical tactic is to improve the robustness of occlusion features in the model. However, this approach neglects the noise introduced by other pedestrians in the image, leading to limited learning of relevant information between images. To address these issues, this paper introduces a pedestrian re-identification model that leverages perception-enhanced and attention mechanisms. By enhancing the perception of non-pedestrian noise and erasing non-pedestrian features, we then employ a cross-attention mechanism to subtly embed global and local features for finer feature recognition. Finally, through context attention, we learn the interaction between pedestrian images to improve re-identification accuracy. Results from studies performed on the Market-1501, CUHK03-D, and Duke-ReID datasets indicate that the suggested model surpasses leading contemporary models regarding Rank-1 scores and mean Average Precision (mAP), while maintaining good robustness. © 2024 IEEE.

There are some defects on the surface of steel that are difficult to detect, so we propose an improved algorithm based on YOLOv8 for detecting defects that are difficult to be detected. This improvement includes the introduction of an SPD module to minimize the problem of information loss due to downsampling;the addition of a small object detection head combined with EMA attention to further enhance the detection capabilities for small targets;the use of BiFPN to replace the original PANet, applying different weights to different features to strengthen feature fusion. Experiments were conducted on the NEU-DET dataset, and the algorithm improved mAP to 80.2%, an improvement of 3.9% over the baseline model. © 2024 IEEE.

In image semantic communication, the complex wireless channel environment leads to the loss of image details and performance degradation during transmission. To address this issue, we propose an image semantic communication system based on Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) and Relative Position-Encoding (RPE), named GAN-RpeSC. Specifically, in the system design, we introduce the GAN network at the output of the semantic communication framework to enhance the image restoration. We integrate the RPE module into the Visual Transformer (ViT) module, adding the RPE module to its Multihead Self Attention (MHSA), so that the model can better capture the spatial location information of the image. Experimental results show that the proposed GAN-RpeSC has significant advantages in improving image transmission quality, with a 0.3 dB improvement in peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) compared to the ViT module alone. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

In the field of computational intelligence and data analytics, the detection of fake food reviews has emerged as a pressing challenge, exacerbated by the widespread use of social media. These fraudulent reviews, particularly prevalent in the food and beverage industry, distort consumer decision-making and disrupt market fairness. To address this, we propose GMF-R, an innovative multimodal fusion framework based on Graph Attention Network (GAT), designed to effectively detect fake food reviews. The framework features end-to-end trainability and introduces advanced multimodal feature processing mechanisms, including fine-grained cross-modal interactions, a shared feature space, and multimodal graph construction. By utilizing GAT, GMF-R can adaptively assign attention weights to key nodes and accurately capture complex inter-modal relationships. Experimental results demonstrate that GMF-R achieves a 97.4% accuracy rate and a 98.1% F1 score on the Yelp reviews website dataset, significantly outperforming previous state-of-the-art models. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Studies on the lung cancer genome are indispensable for developing a cure for lung ***-genome resequencing,genome-wide association studies,and transcriptome sequencing have greatly improved our understanding of the cancer ***,dysregulation of longrange chromatin interactions in lung cancer remains poorly *** better understand the three-dimensional(3D)genomic interaction features of the lung cancer genome,we used the A549 cell line as a model system and generated high-resolution chromatin interactions associated with RNA polymerase II(RNAPII),CCCTC-binding factor(CTCF),enhancer of zeste homolog 2(EZH2),and histone 3 lysine 27 trimethylation(H3K27me3)using long-read chromatin interaction analysis by paired-end tag sequencing(ChIA-PET).Analysis showed that EZH2/H3K27me3-mediated interactions further repressed target genes,either through loops or domains,and their distributions along the genome were distinct from and complementary to those associated with ***-related genes were highly enriched with chromatin interactions,and chromatin interactions specific to the A549 cell line were associated with oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes,such as additional repressive interactions on FOXO4 and promoter–promoter interactions between NF1 and *** of an anchor associated with chromatin interactions reversed the dysregulation of cancer-related genes,suggesting that chromatin interactions are essential for proper expression of lung cancer-related *** findings demonstrate the 3D landscape and gene regulatory relationships of the lung cancer genome.
