The essential oil from the Root Bark of Litsea mollis was isolated using hydrodistillation in a Clevenger-type apparatus, and characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A total of 31 compounds were identified, representing 95.22% of the oil. The main components identified were (R)-citronellal (39.9%), (R)-citronellol (13.63%), (Z)-citral (11.5%) and β-caryophyllene (5.78%). © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The essential oil from the twig of Litsea mollis was isolated using hydrodistillation in a Clevenger-type apparatus, and characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A total of 39 compounds were identified, representing 89.27% of the oil. Among the twig oil compounds, oxygenated monoterpenes (39.06%) and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (36.62%) were predominant (75.68% in total). Among the oxygenated monoterpenes, eucalyptol (9.9%), (R)-citronellol (7.23%), (R)-citronellal (7.0%), and (Z)-citral (5.03%) were the major compounds. Of the sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, β-caryophyllene (7.96%), (-)-α-panasinsene (6.31) and à-Caryophyllene (6.28%) were the main components. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In this paper,The improved Particle Swarm Optimization in dynamic objective function environment(DOFPSO) is purposed. The dynamic environment will change with the time t. The DOFPSO algorithm discuss that how to determine changes of the time(environment) and how to keep population diversity. The improved algorithm has the ability to fast response the change of environment and could find the best fitness value quickly. The results of experiment indicate that DOFPSO is more effective than particle swarm optimization(PSO) and restart method particle swarm optimization(RMPSO) in the response of change of environment and fast convergence.

Recently, complex system has been considered by complex networks. The fractal and self-similarity properties are revealed in many real complex networks. The visibility graph which can convert a time series into a *** this paper, music notation is considered as a time series. And then, the fractal and self-similarity properties of music are revealed using box-covering algorithm of complex networks. The proposed method is applied to calculate the fractal dimensions of some real music. Our results show that the proposed method is efficient to study the fractal and self-similarity properties of music.

The novel title compound 4-chlorobenzaldehyde （2-trifluoromethyl-5,6,7,8- tetrahydro- benzo[4,5]thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-yl）hydrazone monohydrate （C18H14C1F3N4S.H20, Mr = 428.86） has been synthesized by a condensation reaction of 4-chlorobenzaldehyde with （2-trifuoromethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrobenzo[4,5]thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-yl）hydrazine, and its crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 7.4252（7）, b = 26.344（2）, c = 10.3095（9） A, /3 = 109.407（2）~, V= 1902.0（3） A3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.498 g/cm^3, p = 0.356 mm-1, F（000） = 880, the final R = 0.0564 and wR = 0.1681 for 2343 observed reflections with I 〉 2o（/）. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the title hydrazone molecule is nearly planar except for the cyclohexene and trifluoromethyl moieties. In the crystal packing, the molecules form stacks by a three-dimensional framework, which results from intermolecular N（3）-H（3）...O（1）, O（1）-H（1B）...N（2）, O（1）- H（1B）...N（4） and O（1）-H（1A）...F（1） hydrogen bonds via water molecules together with π-π stacking interactions. Molecular geometry of the title compound in the ground state optimized by B3LYP functional with 6-311G＊＊ basis sets indicates that the calculations are in agreement with the experimental data. The preliminary bioassay suggested that the title compound exhibits relatively good fungicidal activity against Fusarium oxysporium *** and Dothiorella gregaria.

Transcript analysis and expression profiling of three heat shock protein 70 genes in the ectoparasitoid Habrobracon hebetor （Hymenoptera： Braconidae）

Heat shock proteins （HSPs） are known as chaperones that help with folding of other proteins when cells are under environmental stresses. The upregulation of HSPs is essential for cold survival during insect diapause. The ectoparasitoidHabrobracon hebetor, a potential biological control agent, can enter reproductive diapause when reared at low temperature and short photoperiod. However, the expression of HSPs during diapause of H. hebetor has not been studied. In this study, we sequenced and characterized the full-length complementary DNAs of three Hsp70 genes （HhHsp70I, HhHsp70II and HhHsp70IIl） from 11. hebetor. Their deduced amino acid sequences showed more than 80% identities to their counterparts from other insect species. However, the multiple se- quence alignment among the three deduced amino acid sequences of HhHsp70s showed only 46% identities. A phylogenetic analysis of the three HhHsp70s and all other known Hsp70 sequences from Hymenoptera clustered all the Hsp70s into four groups, and the three HhHsp70s were distributed into three different groups. Real-time quantitative poly- merase chain reaction analysis showed that the expression of the three HhHspTO genes in H. hebetor reared at different conditions was quite different. HhHspTOI showed higher relative expression when H. hebetor were reared at 27.5℃ than at two lower temperatures （17.5℃ and 20℃） regardless of the photoperiod, whereas HhHspTOII showed higher ex- pression when H. hebetor were reared at 20℃ and 10 ： 14 L ： D than when reared at 17.5℃ and either 16 ： 8 L ： D or 10 ： 14 L ： D. In contrast, HhHSP7OIIIwas expressed at similar levels regardless of the rearing conditions. These results may suggest functional differences among the three HhHspTO genes in H. hebetor.

In this article, the selenium content of selenium polysaccharide and its antioxidant activity in vitro in Artemisia argyi has been studied. The double tracts atomic fluorescence spectrometry is used to detect the total selenium content in the sample and that of selenium polysaccharide in the active ingredient of the sample. The salicylic acid method and pyrogallol autoxidation method are used to detect the scavenging activity of selenium polysaccharide on hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anion. which grows in Yutangba, a selenium mining area of Enshi-"City of Selenium in China". Through a comparative experiment with Artemisia argyi growing in non-selenium mining areas, the results have shown that the antioxidant ability of selenium polysaccharide in Se-enriched Artemisia argyi is significantly stronger than that of pure polysaccharide. Therefore, Se-enriched Chinese herbal medicine is a good natural antioxidant, which is worthy of exploitation and utilization.

Effects of High-Quality Aromatic Rice Varieties on the Fitness of the Striped Stem Borer, Chilo suppressalis (Walker) in Central China

The striped stem borer （SSB）, Chilo suppressalis （Walker）（Lepidoptera： Pyralidae）, is a major pest of rice in China. Variation in host-plant quality may affect the body size of herbivorous insects, which in turn, can determine their life-history parameters such as survival, fecundity and fitness. In this study, we tested the effects of high-quality aromatic rice varieties on the fitness of SSB in China. Results showed that 1st instar larvae had higher penetrating rates and survival rates on the high-quality aromatic rice varieties （EX-1 and WX-988） than that on the non-aromatic rice varieties （EZ-5 and LYP-9）. In addition, shorter developmental periods, greater female pupal weights and higher of other life-history parameters （hatching rate, pupation rate, eclosion rate and increase index） were found on the high-quality aromatic rice varieties, although only female pupal weight showed a significant difference between the two varieties. The highest dead heart rate was found on the aromatic rice variety of EX-1. These results indicate that SSB sustains a lower fitness cost when consuming the high-quality aromatic rice varieties （EX-1 and WX-988） than on the non-aromatic rice varieties （EZ-5 and LYP-9） in Central China.

Responses of Detoxifying, Antioxidant and Digestive Enzyme Activities to Host Shift of Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae)

The polyphagous B-biotype of Bemisia tabaci （Gennadius） has demonstrated a high capacity to adapt to numerous hosts from diverse plant families. To illustrate induced responses by the host plant, biochemical research on eight plant-insect interaction correlative enzymes, representing detoxifying, antioxidant and digestive pathways, were investigated. Transferring whitefly adults to Zhongmian 23 from the pre-adapted host Zhongmian 41 induced activities of carboxylesterase （by 1.80-fold）, glutathione S-transferase （by 3.79-fold）, proteinase （by 1.62-fold） and amylase （by 2.41-fold） activities, hut decreased polyphenol oxidase （by 1.89-fold） and peroxidase （by 1.88-fold）. However, transferring whitefly adults to the favorite host abutilon from Zhongmian 41 was associated with increased activities of cytochrome P450 monooxygenase （by 1.61-fold） and amylase （by 1.42-fold）, and decreased activities of polyphenol oxidase （by 2.96-fold） and peroxidase （by 2.07-fold）. Our results, together with previous studies, proved that multiple pathways are involved in coping with host shifts by polyphagous herbivores, and the taxonomic status and preference of the host transferred would affect which pathway would be induced. These results would represent a key challenge in developing long-term sustainable insect control strategies.

Antioxidant activity in vitro of Selenium Polysaccharide of Thlaspi caerulescens L. rich in selenium

The antioxidant capacity of the human body is closely related to its ability of disease resistance and anti-aging. It is a current research focus to find effective anti-oxidants used in medicine, food, health care, beauty make-up from natural plants. In this paper, we studied the content of selenium in selenium polysaccharide and its antioxidant activity in vitro of Thlaspi caerulescens L. produced from Yutangba of Enshi selenium mining area. The double tracts atomic fluorescence spectrometry is used to detect the total selenium content in the sample and that of selenium polysaccharide in the active ingredient of the sample. The salicylic acid method and pyrogallol autoxidation method are used to detect the scavenging activity of selenium polysaccharide on hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anion. Experiments show that the total amount of selenium in Thlaspi caerulescens L. is 708ug.g(-1), while the amount of selenium in selenium polysaccharide is 98.1ug.g(-1), accounting 13.86% of the total selenium content. Meanwhile, selenium polysaccharide in samples is with significant antioxidant capacity, and it shows a certain dose-effect relationship. Selenium polysaccharide has stronger anti-oxidation ability than pure polysaccharide compared with non-selenium polysaccharide. Therefore, plants rich in selenium are better natural antioxidants. This study will provide the necessary experimental basis for the effective and rational development and utilization of Thlaspi caerulescens L. rich in selenium Modern medicine proves that excessive free radicals in the body can cause inflammation, cancer, and ischemic disease and accelerate aging, etc.. As a result, it has become a hot spot to study the anti-oxidants to remove excessive free radicals. For current synthetic antioxidants, there are problems of high toxic side effects, poor thermal stability and many other shortcomings.
