Pulsating Torque Suppression of Flux Reversal Machines Based on Specific Harmonic Contributions of Rotor Permeance and PM MMF

Flux reversal machines (FRMs) exhibit high torque density, but also significant pulsating torque, including cogging torque and torque ripple. Traditional methods fail to separate the harmonics that affect torque density and pulsating torque, leading to a degradation of torque density when reducing pulsating torque. Therefore, to maintain torque density and simultaneously reduce pulsating torque, this paper proposes a novel FRM configuration incorporating shape designs for the rotor and permanent magnets (PMs). First, the key generation mechanisms of cogging torque, average torque, and torque ripple are thoroughly examined, with analytical expressions derived to classify the torque contributions of all air-gap magnetic field harmonics into negative-effect and positive-effect components. Further, the rotor and PM shapes are designed to enhance the positive-effect components and reduce the negative-effect ones of the air-gap permeance and magnetomotive force (MMF). The impacts of geometric parameters are evaluated by using a sensitivity-based hierarchical optimization approach. Then, the proposed FRM is comprehensively compared with a conventional FRM in terms of back-electromotive force (EMF), cogging torque, average torque, torque ripple, efficiency, etc. The results indicate that the proposed machine configuration achieves reductions in cogging torque and torque ripple by 90% and 86.8%, respectively, while maintaining consistent average torque. Finally, a 12-slot/10-pole FRM prototype was built and tested to validate the effectiveness of the proposed machine topology. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Software systems often encounter various errors or exceptions in practice, and thus proper error handling code is essential to ensure the reliability of software systems. Unfortunately, error handling code is often bug-prone, while sufficiently testing them is challenging as such code often cannot be triggered under normal conditions. Motivated by this, recent studies have proposed to leverage software fault injection (SFI) based fuzzing to discover potential bugs in complicated error handling code. Despite the promising results achieved, their effectiveness and efficiency are still compromised in practice due to the huge search space of error sites, inadequate fuzzing guidance, and the overhead induced by context-sensitive SFI. To achieve effective and efficient testing of error handling code, this study presents AFL-FI, which first utilizes a similarity-based method to identify suspicious error sites, and then incorporates the idea of error site coverage to guide the fuzzing process. Finally, the design of lightweight context-sensitive SFI enables AFL-FI to execute test cases efficiently. We evaluate AFL-FI on eight large-scale open-source projects, and the results show that it can outperform existing state-of-the-art fuzzing tools significantly in terms of branch code coverage. More importantly, AFL-FI has discovered 13 previously unknown bugs, and all of them have been confirmed while 12 of them have been fixed. Besides, our evaluation also demonstrates that all the key designs of AFL-F I are effective that contribute significantly to its overall performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Adware represents a pervasive threat in the mobile ecosystem, yet its inherent characteristics have been largely overlooked by previous research. This work takes a crucial step towards demystifying Android adware. We present a comprehensive, well-annotated Android adware dataset AdwareZoo, which comprises 15,996 adware samples across 118 distinct adware families collected from both security reports and app repositories, providing a robust foundation for in-depth analysis and future research. We identify adware family payloads by isolating packages from adware samples for VirusTotal rescanning. Our analysis unveils critical insights into the adware ecosystem, highlighting distinctive patterns in family naming conventions and exposing the unexpected classification of widely-used ad networks as adware. We identify diverse payload location strategies, with a notable finding that over 30% of adware families employ payloads beyond conventional Java/Kotlin code. Furthermore, we reveal several evasion techniques utilized by ad-ware, including package name obfuscation and dynamic payload loading. This research not only offers a robust foundation for understanding and combating adware but also highlights the pressing need for increased scrutiny of mobile advertising practices. © 2024 ACM.

As blockchain technology progresses, the deployment of smart contracts has become increasingly prevalent. Despite their growing popularity, smart contracts introduce substantial security risks and vulnerabilities. Present detection methodologies predominantly analyze the entirety of a contract’s source code, a process that tends to indiscriminately extract uniform features, leading to inadequate detection capabilities. Addressing these concerns, we propose a novel vulnerability detection method for smart contracts, predicated on a mixed channel attention mechanism. This approach focuses on extracting multifaceted features from pivotal code segments of smart contracts, utilizing a combination of spatial and frequency domain channel attention mechanisms. These mechanisms dynamically modulate the weights of feature channels during visualization, allowing the model to allocate greater emphasis to features of higher significance and enhance feature differentiation. This strategy is instrumental in capturing salient information within the data, thereby augmenting the model’s performance and accuracy. Empirical results substantiate that our proposed method substantially surpasses the baseline model, evidencing improvements of 5.55%, 5.42%, and 5.49% in the detection of timestamp vulnerabilities, and 4.12%, 4.29%, and 4.20% in the identification of reentrancy vulnerabilities, respectively. Our method offers a significant advancement in the efficacy of smart contract vulnerability detection and presents valuable implications for future research. © 2024 Knowledge systems Institute Graduate School. Intelligent Cyber-Physical systems typically utilize sensors to gather a significant amount of raw data which often possesses temporal and high-dimensional characteristics. Ensuring the data reliability is crucial for the normal operation of the system. While most existing methods are capable of identifying anomalies in high-dimensional time series data from sensors, they often lack adequate accuracy and fail to adequately consider the correlation between sensor nodes. To address these limitations, we propose an unsupervised framework which is a combination of variational autoencoder and graph neural network(VG-Net). By jointly optimizing the reconstruction module and the prediction module, VG-Net effectively models the correlation between sensor nodes while simultaneously detecting anomalies. The reconstruction module is responsible for modeling the latent representation space and reconstructing the time series data through variational autoencoder. The prediction module leverages bidirectional long short term memory networks and neural tensor network to learn the relationships between sensor nodes, and uses graph neural network to predict the future behavior of the data. Experiments on eight real and synthetic datasets demonstrate that, compared with existing methods, VG-Net can accurately model the relationship between sensor nodes and enhance the anomaly detection performance of high-dimensional time series data. © 2024 IEEE.

Silicone gels are widely used as a high-performance polymer insulating material in the packaging of high-voltage, high-power devices. However, under long-term thermal stress conditions, silicone gels undergo cross-linking reactions, and the degree of cross-linking increases with the aging degree. In order to study the potential relationship between the aging degree and the crosslink density, this paper builds the AC and DC withstand voltage test platform, by changing the ratio of the specimen preparation, to obtain the silicone gel specimens with different crosslink density, and carries out the negative polarity under the role of the rod-plate electrode DC breakdown test, and draws the Weibull distribution diagram. The study shows that the increase of cross-linking density leads to the decrease of the breakdown voltage of the organosilicon gel, and the change of the cross-linking density of the organosilicon gel due to thermal aging is an important means by which it affects the breakdown voltage of the organosilicon gel. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Based on the principle of F-P (Fabry-Perot) interference, this paper designs a three-beam support cantilever optical fiber F-P sensor. Three beam support cantilever structure improves the sensitivity of detecting GIS partial discharge, ensures the consistency of the insulation medium inside and outside the sensor, and eliminates the influence of temperature changes on the sensor. Based on COMSOL simulation, this paper analyzes the influence of the beam width on the resonance frequency and static pressure sensitivity of the three-beam support cantilever structure, and selects the optimal parameters to design a F-P sensor with a resonance frequency of 27033 Hz. Based on the optical detection platform, this paper uses Electric ignition to simulate partial discharge ultrasonic signals in the air. The measured resonance frequency of the sensor is 28077 Hz. The sensor can effectively detect the ultrasonic signal of partial discharge of GIS. © 2021 IEEE.
