Effect of molecular alignment and orientation on elliptically polarized high-order harmonic generation

We present a theoretical investigation of the influence of molecular alignment and orientation on elliptically polarized high-order harmonic generation (HHG) from CO molecules exposed to a linearly polarized pulse. The results show that the ellipticity of HHG observed in a partially aligned or oriented CO molecular ensemble significantly deviates from that of the individual response. Additionally, we find that the ellipticity of HHG in the CO molecular ensemble exhibits strong dependence on the degree of molecular alignment/orientation as well as the time delay between the alignment/orientation and probe pulses. More importantly, under the proper alignment/orientation angle, a large HHG ellipticity can be achieved from the partially aligned/oriented molecular ensemble at a moderate degree of alignment/orientation. These findings relax the experimental requirement of a high degree of molecular alignment/orientation for harmonic generation with large ellipticity.

This paper presents a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN)-based jitter distortion correction method for spaceborne images of Time Delay Integration (TDI) Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) camera. This method leverages the advantages of GANs and combines content loss, adversarial loss, and perceptual loss to effectively repair distorted images while preserving image details, which does not rely on jitter information captured by high-frequency attitude sensors, nor depends on the analysis of overlapping areas between different bands in multispectral images. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves automated correction of geometric distortions and has shown promising restoration results on real distorted images captured by Yaogan-26 satellite and GaoFen satellite, which achieves better results than other blind restoration methods.

Numerical Insights into noise amplification of high-energy mid-infrared supercontinuum generation in normal dispersion multimode fibers

We report on the noise properties of high-energy mid-infrared supercontinuum (MIR-SC) generation in normal dispersion multimode fibers from the numerical perspective. Noise amplification in multi-modes is primarily due to the stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) effect. This leads to the emergence of "incoherent cloud formation" and "incoherent optical wave breaking", similar to those observed in single-mode fibers. Increasing the pump technical noise from 0.1 % to 1 % significantly shortens the lumped coherence length LC and exacerbates the influence of incoherent broadening dynamics competing with coherent dynamics, resulting in MIR-SC being a strong consistency in the collapse evolution of amplitude noise and phase coherence. To minimize this noise amplification and achieve high-energy low-noise MIR-SC in practical applications, it is essential to use short-pulse pumping with low amplitude noise, ensuring that LC>>LOWB (where LOWB denotes the optical wave breaking length). Super-Bloch oscillations(SBOs)are amplified versions of direct current(dc)-driving Bloch oscillations realized under the detuned dc-and alternating current(ac)-driving electric fields.A unique feature of SBOs is the coherent oscillation inhibition via the ac-driving renormalization effect,which is dubbed as the collapse of ***,previous experimental studies on SBOs have only been limited to the weak ac-driving regime,and the collapse of SBOs has not been ***,by harnessing a synthetic temporal lattice in fiber-loop systems,we push the ac-field into a strong-driving regime and observe the collapse of SBOs,which manifests as the oscillation-trajectory localization at specific ac-driving amplitudes and oscillation-direction flip by crossing collapse *** adopting arbitrary-wave ac-driving fields,we also realize generalized SBOs with engineered collapse ***,we exploit the oscillation-direction flip features to design tunable temporal beam routers and *** initiate and demonstrate the collapse of SBOs,which may feature applications in coherent wave localization control for optical communications and signal processing.

An optical fiber sensor based on combined anti-resonant reflecting (ARR) mechanism is experimentally demonstrated for simultaneous measurement of temperature and curvature. The sensor head consists of a section of liquid infiltrated simplified hollow core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) spliced to a section of silica capillary. Two types of ARR mechanisms are involved in the sensor structure: the double-layer ARR guidance in the infiltrated PCF, and the single-layer ARR guidance in the silica capillary, which result in two sets of ARR fringes in the transmission spectrum. Due to the difference in the guiding mechanism and waveguide components, the two ARR fringes exhibit different responses to temperature and curvature. By measuring the wavelength shift of the double-layer ARR fringe and the intensity variation of the single-layer ARR fringe, temperature and curvature can be determined simultaneously. © 2023 Elsevier GmbH

The detection of mine targets will be interfered by the underwater non-uniform strong noise (organic matter, suspended particles, etc). To solve this problem, the paper proposes a novel denoising method. Firstly, a new optimization filtering algorithm LEP-EPC is proposed based on the local edge-preserving (LEP) filtering algorithm. A spatially adaptive edge perception constraint regularization term is introduced into the model to better represent the edges and details of the image, so that the edge-preserving and smoothing property of the algorithm is better. Secondly, the paper uses multi-scale strategy to solve the non-uniformity of strong noise, iteratively applies the LEP-EPC algorithm to the noise removal results of each scale to generate multi-scale decomposition, and gradually increases the denoising scale in the process of multi-scale decomposition. The strong noise of different scales is gradually separated from the mine targets image. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can remove the underwater non-uniform strong noise while retaining the mine target information, which also has a certain guiding significance for mine operation. © 2020 IEEE.

High Sensitivity Temperature Sensor Based on Polymer-Liquid Modified Anti-Resonant Reflecting Guidance in Silica Capillary

A high sensitivity temperature sensor based on polymer and liquid modified anti-resonant reflection principle is proposed. The sensor is made of a section of liquid-filled and UV-curable adhesive coated silica capillary, sandwiched between single mode fibers. The guiding mechanism of the waveguide is affected by both the liquid inside the hollow core, and the adhesive outside the silica cladding. The location of the resonant dips are influenced by the refractive index (RI) of the liquid, while the fringe visibility (resonant strength) is tuned by the both the liquid and the adhesive. By carefully selecting the refractive index value of the infiltrated liquid, and controlling the curing time of the adhesive, sharp resonant dips can be obtained. The sensor exhibits very high temperature sensitivity against temperature. A high sensitivity of 3.369 nm/°C is achieved with an infiltration index of 1.39, in the temperature range from 25 °C to 60 °C and the detection limit is estimated to be 0.04 °C. Moreover, the temperature sensitivity of the sensor is found to be decreasing with the order of resonance. The sensor is easy to fabricate and cost effective, and is applicable in both dry and wet environments. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In quantum mechanics,when an electron is quickly ripped off from a molecule,a superposition of new eigenstates of the cation creates an electron wave packet that governs the charge flow inside,which has been called charge migration(CM).Experimentally,extracting such dynamics at its natural(attosecond)timescale is quite *** report the first such experiment in a linear carbon-chain molecule,butadiyne(C_(4)H_(2)),via high-harmonic spectroscopy(HHS).By employing advanced theoretical and computational tools,we showed that the wave packet and the CM of a single molecule are reconstructed from the harmonic spectra for each fixed-in-space angle of the *** this onedimensional molecule,we calculate the center of charge (t) to obtain v_(cm),to quantify the migration speed and how it depends on the orientation *** findings also uncover how the electron dynamics at the first few tens to hundreds of attoseconds depends on molecular *** method can be extended to other molecules where the HHS technique can be employed.

Reconfigurable chiral edge states in synthetic dimensions on an integrated photonic chip

Chiral edge states are a hallmark of topological physics, and the emergence of synthetic dimensions has provided ideal platforms for investigating chiral topology while overcoming the limitations of real space. Conventional studies have primarily concentrated on symmetric chiral behaviors, limited by complex and inflexible systems. Here we demonstrate a programmable integrated photonic platform to generate and manipulate reconfigurable chiral edge states in synthetic dimensions within a single lithium niobate microring resonator. Our system is realized by integrating independent frequency and pseudospin degrees of freedom in the dynamically modulated resonator, which features tunable artificial gauge potentials and long-range couplings. We demonstrate a variety of reconfigurable chiral behaviors in synthetic dimensions, including the realization and frustration of chiral edge states in a synthetic Hall ladder, the generation of imbalanced chiral edge currents, and the regulation of chiral behaviors among chirality, single-pseudospin enhancement, and complete suppression. This work paves the way for exploring chiral edge states in high-dimensional synthetic space on a programmable photonic chip, showing promising potential for applications in optical communications, quantum simulations, signal processing, and photonic neuromorphic computing.
