Delay-Dependent H_∞ Robust Frequency control in Microgrids: Coordination of Secondary Frequency control and Virtual Inertia control

The time delay, disturbances, and parameters uncertainties brought by open communication networks and renewable energy source threaten the stable operation of the frequency control system (FCS) in microgrids (MGs). Plus, the low inertia of MGs exacerbates frequency fluctuations. In this article, the codesign of H_∞ robust controllers for secondary frequency control (SFC) and virtual inertia control (VIC) in the delay-dependent FCS of MG is presented. First, the FCS of MG considering the VIC under the influence of the time delay is established. Second, based on Lyapunov stability theory, an H_∞ performance analysis method is proposed for the FCS of MG with the time-varying delay. Then, with robust performance index as the design condition, the grey wolf optimizer is used to carry out the codesign of the SFC and VIC. Finally, the simulation test proves that the proposed control strategy can effectively codesign the SFC and VIC. The designed robust controllers can effectively deal with the problems of low inertia, time delay, disturbance, and parameters uncertainty in MG frequency control. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

Air quality data exhibit nonlinearity, sensitivity to environmental factors, and long-term dependencies. Numerous factors influence air quality, making accurate predictions based on a single-dimensional dataset impractical. This study proposes a method for urban air quality prediction that integrates wide-area spatiotemporal data, designed to address the unique characteristics of air quality datasets. First, relevant wide-area spatiotemporal data are selected, and their correlations with air quality are systematically analyzed. Second, a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network-based Transformer model is utilized to capture the long-term dependencies in the air quality sequences. Finally, the model successfully generates hourly multi-step predictions for six air pollutants. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the method that relies on air quality data alone for multi-step air quality prediction.

Optical phased array (OPA) on silicon platform is developed as a hot topic in the past decade. In order to achieve both large field of view (FOV) and high side mode suppression ratio (SMSR), large-scale antenna with spacing of half wavelength is usually required, resulting in large footprint and complex scanning design. Recently, OPAs with nonuniform antenna are proposed as efficient solutions to achieve large FOV with simplified layout. Here, we analyze the performance of various OPAs with different nonuniform antenna designs. In addition, a genetic algorithm optimization method is further proposed for nonuniform antenna design. OPA with the proposed nonuniform antenna is simulated with a steering range of ±50° and SMSR of 11.3dB.

Recently, the emotional robot has basic functions of perceiving and expressing emotions, but it still hard to communicate naturally between humans and robots. One major reason is that communication atmosphere is seldom considered in Human-robot Interaction (HRI). We propose Multi-modal (i.e., music background, speech, and semantics) Based Fuzzy Atmosfield (FA), which can not only realize the dynamic adjustment of FA but also dynamically regulate human emotions. In the experiment, a Pepper robot is used and one hundred volunteers are invited for HRI, and soothing piano pieces are used as background music. Questionnaires were filled by the volunteers after the experiments, from which the results show that 90% of the volunteers felt the dynamic changes in the communication atmosphere and 77% of the volunteers felt significant emotional regulation, which demonstrates the effectiveness of our method.

Aiming at the prediction of truck travel time in open pit mines,we established a prediction model based on long short-term memory(LSTM).This model fully accounts for 11 factors,including the nature of trucks,weather,road conditions,and driver's behaviors,as well as the influence of neighbor road segments in the route on the current predicted road *** experiment shows that the error of the LSTM prediction model is significantly reduced compared with S VR and BP *** addition,the maximum absolute mean error under different conditions is less than 12 seconds.

Size measurement and defect detection of ceramics are required in the production process of ceramic products. Therefore, it is necessary to perform high-precision and fast three-dimensional reconstruction of such targets with smooth surfaces and weak textures. However, the reconstruction of a large number of point clouds from multiple perspectives is time-consuming due to the matching of adjacent feature points. Based on this, a fast point cloud registration strategy based on the "eye-in-hand" model is proposed, which can obtain RGB-D images at multi-view around weak-textured objects with RGB-D camera for rapid point cloud registration and reconstruction. Meanwhile, a 3D point cloud segmentation method based on voxel-grid and euclidean distance clustering is applied to divide the scene point and obtain an accurate 3D model. The experimental results indicate that the multi view 3D reconstruction speed of this method is faster and the accuracy of objects point cloud is within 2 mm. Hence, this method can be well applied in reconstructing the 3D point clouds model for ceramic products. © 2021 IEEE

For patients requiring upper limb rehabilitation, the hand rehabilitation robot assists the patient in completing movements within a certain training trajectory to achieve therapeutic results. There have been studies based on deep learning to convert surface electromyography (sEMG) signals into sEMG images for motion intention analysis. Although good recognition accuracy has been achieved, the working principle of neural networks and the processing of image features by the networks are not well explained. The interpretability of deep neural networks determines human confidence in neural network decisions. In this paper, we design a method based on feature importance and implicit correlation for hand motion intention recognition, experimentally explored that convolutional neural networks have implicit definitions for sEMG grayscale images of the same hand gesture action, and verified the effectiveness of the designed method.

In view of the difficulty and low accuracy of small object detection for remote sensing images, this paper proposes a small object detection algorithm based on conual information fusion to solve the problem of real-time detection accuracy of small object. In this paper, we use bottom-up VGG16 network to realize multi-scale feature extraction to deal with the problem of insufficient image feature extraction. To direct at the problem that the feature information of each feature layer is single, the shallow feature layer and the deep feature layer are fused through the feature fusion module, which achieves the purpose that some feature layers have more abundant fusion features in the structure level. Aiming at the problem that the detection objects in remote sensing images are mainly small and medium-sized objects, this paper proposes to use the multivariate information of four different scale feature layers for classification prediction and regression prediction, so as to reduce the complexity of network model. The experimental results show that the proposed small object detection algorithm based on the fusion of four scale deep and shallow conual information can obtain good accuracy and real-time performance on the NWPU VHR-10 dataset, improve the detection accuracy on the basis of ensuring the real-time detection, and perform well in the small object detection task of remote sensing images. © 2021 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of automation.

In the context of electrical power operation sites, the automated and accurate detection of whether workers are properly equipped with safety gear, such as safety clothing, helmets, and safety ropes for high-altitude operations, is crucial for ensuring the safety of personnel. Traditional object detection models often struggle to accurately identify these critical pieces of safety equipment in complex environments, due to variable object sizes, overlapping objects, and substantial background noise. To specifically address these challenges, we propose a novel loss function-Enhanced Alignment Intersection over Union (EAIoU) loss. This loss function is designed to enhance the model's ability to discriminate between closely spaced and overlapping safety gear in real-time, significantly improving robustness against scale variations and complex backgrounds. In experiments based on the YOLOv8s architecture, our model achieved a mean Average Precision (mAP) of 92.1 % on a dataset specific to electrical power operations, markedly outperforming traditional IoU loss functions. Additionally, EAIoU demonstrated improved performance on the COCO dataset, indicating its generalization capability across various complex scenarios. This research not only enhances the accuracy and real-time performance of safety equipment detection at electric power operation sites but also opens new avenues for advanced object detection technology in complex, multi-object environments.

This paper presents a method integrated equivalent-input-disturbance (EID) and repetitive control (RC) to mitigate the effects of non-linearity and uncertainty in a pedaling rehabilitation robot. The repetitive controller is designed to ensure accurate steady-state tracking of periodic signal. Meanwhile, the EID estimator, combined with a state observer, is responsible for estimating and compensating for the impacts of non-linearity, parameter uncertainties, and disturbances caused by patients with lower-limb impairments. We design a Lyapunov stability function to assess the stability of system. The parameters of the control gain are obtained by linear matrix inequality (LMI). The results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
